"I enjoyed the welcoming, hospitable service from the gracious owner, the reasonable prices and the generous portions during my opening week dine-in lunch visit. The shawarma platter ($11.99) included choice of soup or a side salad, a side of hummus, a bottomless basket of pita bread and good portions of moist, white chicken and moist, flavorful rice. The sides were served with a smile five minutes after I ordered at the table, while the entrée was served 25 minutes later. Everything was very good. I especially liked the tasty hummus.I found the dining area to be clean and comfortable with Mediterranean background music and plenty of natural light. I also noticed a private dining area with room for six.The menu included appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and meals for the kiddos with many vegan and vegetarian options. There was a 4% credit card surcharge.Overall, very nice!"
"When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a tall man near the front door. There was a worker, mopping the floor, and I could see and smell how clean the place was. I let the greeter know I wanted to place a to-go order and he showed me to a menu and a place to sit down to be comfy while I reviewed my food options. Everyone was super friendly right off the bat. I placed my order and did not have to wait long for my food. The same man who greeted me was the one who gave me my food, and he wished me a fond farewell and told me to stay warm on this cold evening. The service alone is what will bring me back to this place. It smelled so good in the car that I wished I had a fork and someone else was driving so I could start tasting it on the way home. Finally, I was home and able to dish up. My daughter tasted hers first. "So good!', she proclaimed. After my first bite I agreed. Restaurant has plenty of seating in the dining area. If you're in Northtown during lunchtime, you should stop in and try the buffet. I could see that it's a very large buffet and there must be lots of options. They also offer delivery."
"In addition to popping up in my research of Topeka, The Wheel Barrel was also recommended by a local shop owner. We walked in and chose a seat at the far end of the first dining area. A table with a booth on the side against the wall, and chairs on the other side. We started with an appetizer of the House seasoned kettle chips and craft beer queso. It was goooood. The chips were SO good, we actually took the ones we didn't finish with us to go. Next, we ordered our sammiches. My wife chose the Award Winning Monte Cristo, and I went with The Kansan. My wife loved her sammich. But mine... well, mine left me momentarily speechless. The cheese pull was insane! Every single ingredient combined for an incredible flavor explosion in my mouth. Without a doubt one of the best sammiches I've ever had. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was fast. We were visiting from California, but would absolutely return to The Wheel Barrel the next time we visited Topeka."
"I enjoy going here as it's close to my office. I'm pretty simple and get the Thai fried rice with chicken. It is very filling and great taste. Yes I like Thai hot and always get the stare lol. Staff is very friendly and quick to ensure you have what you need. Always enjoy the orient decor"
"I previously lived in Lawrence (roughly 8 years ago) & this was my favorite Chinese place in all of Lawrence. Mostly because it was super tasty but also because they served large portions at a cheap price. Yummy & affordable, a broke college students dream. While visiting Lawrence this weekend, we decided to be lazy on Sunday night & order chinese. I was super excited to see that China House was still operating. But even more excited when we got our food & I discovered it tasted the exact same as it did 8 years ago. Hallelujah! The shop itself is unassuming. It's just your typical Chinese restaurant inside a strip mall. It's definitely not a place you go for a fancy dinner. But, if you're looking for a great tasting, affordable meal with a generous portion. This place is it!"
"Being a graduate from UCM Fitters was a go to spot for several years while I was there. Always a good mix of food drink and good bartenders.I was in the burg for a graduation and had a couple hours to kill so I stopped in Fitters for old times sake. They expanded and added a patio since 2007 but the service and food were still exceptional.I'd recommend the smoked chicken wings!"
"This is a small family owned place that is dated inside and out. First impression might cause you to think it's a little sketchy. I have been multiple times, and every time the food on the buffet is really fresh and hot. The quality is surprisingly good.It does seem to have less flavoring and spice than some other Chinese places, but if you like less spice this may be your perfect spotThere are not a lot of options on the buffet, but when the food is prepared continually in small portions so it stays fresh it didn't bother me not having more choices.Since it's close and convenient I will continue to go. If I was not close, I probably would never go out of my way to eat here."
"Popi's never disappoints. Whatever I order, is always made the way I ask for it. Food is always fresh. Great service as well"
"Who knew I'd have one of the best meals of the year in a tiny town in Kansas? Chef Stan's Place is housed in a restored church, and features a paired down menu of brunch and lunch items. And when I say paired down, I mean there are literally five options to choose from, plus three desserts. There's also a soup (whatever Stan feels like making that day) and a salad (a house salad with spring lettuces, bleu cheese crumbles, tomatoes, corn and pepperoncinis). Everything is made by Chef Stan himself, and made with local ingredients -- sometimes harvested right from the garden that he keeps out back. Quiche is a popular choice here and always on the menu, so I had to get that. Stan likes to change up the flavors of the quiche, and when I visited, it was a Mediterranean quiche, with feta and greens. The crust disintegrated in my mouth, it was so tender. Also on the menu was an egg salad sandwich, served face-up on a thick, toasted slice of sourdough bread; a grilled cheese; ravioli; and a pulled chicken sandwich. For dessert, I was told that the Magic Cookie Bars are the thing to get, and my dining companion got one. It takes like 15 minutes to make (Stan bakes them fresh), but they are worth the wait. The Magic Cookie Bars are a cookie crust layered with chocolate chips, shredded coconut and topped with chopped walnuts, all baked together with condensed milk. They're rich and gooey, and definitely something that can be shared with the table.I also had to try the lemon tart, which was bright with just the right amount of lemon in a shortbread crust. And because I couldn't just taste two of the three desserts offered, I also got a chocolate chip cookie for the road. It was a great choice. Chef Stan's Place is a small and intimate restaurant, but casual and comforting. While I was there, a series of regulars came through -- either to dine in or get something to go. The server knew them by name. If you visit, you definitely want to dine in and stay a while. This is a simple and beautiful restaurant, with views out of the church windows of the lovely prairie outside."
"The food is delicious. The service is prompt and the ambience is very simple. This is a place where you want to go and order good Chinese food we've been there twice in the last month and will return again."
"When you find yourself in a small town like Glasgow, MO, you hope for meals and friendly faces like you find at Beckett's.We were immediately greeted with smiles by the staff, who seemed accustomed to their usual customers. The owner herself served us and was a true breath of fresh air. She was laughing, smiling, and promised we'd be taken care of. We were.I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fresh cut french fries. My fellow diner ordered the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich at the suggestion of the owner. Both meals were cooked quickly and to our liking. They arrived at our table quickly and were both fresh from the grill and cook top. The burger tasted fresh. The ground beef was clearly not frozen and was of high quality. The fries were also fresh and were natural and nearly perfect without an abundance of salt. My buddy said his breaded tenderloin sandwich was on the money, too.I generally am not a "dessert at lunch" kind of guy, but the sight of the homemade key lime pie was too much to resist. Thankfully I didn't resist, as this was some of the best pie I've had, and I've spent a LOT of time in Florida. If you pass on the key lime, you should commit yourself and have your sanity tested.Beckett's is a great place with great prices and great service. I'll be heading back today!"

The food was sooo good! They've only been open about 2 weeks, so I anticipate them to just keep improving.

Wow I've heard great things about the Lucky Dragon and I can see why. It's doesn't look appealing on the outside and the parking is a little wonky but it's definitely taste amazing. Enter in and wait to be seated. The older gentlemen who sat me was also checking customers out. But he led me to a table quickly. The space is definitely small so it does feel like everyone is invading your personal space. There are three buffet stations and they have pretty decent assortment of food to choose from. Eating here felt like the quintessential Chinese buffet I went to as a kid. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. Nothing looked like it was dry and sitting for too long. I also heard the waitress mention to another customer that if the food is cold inform them and they will switch it out. Will be back.

Excellent food and service. College towns always provide great bars! Quinoa rice veggie bowl, a wrap and wings. Wings were huge, hubs said, "Best wings he's ever had". Great vibe and great service!

Hole in the wall Mexican food place. So good. It's small, cozy, and only has 2 servers but they get it done. You will always have chips and salsa and your drinks filled!

"Tried this restaurant based on positive reviews from a couple of friends.I we had crab wontons for an appetizer which were great and I ordered orange chicken for my entree. It was probably the best orange chicken I ever had and the portion was big enough that I had left overs for lunch the next day."
"Now that the owners have remodeled this place from a buffet to a sit down and order from a menu type of restaurant; its great! For the price you pay, you get huge portions. Definitely worth it."
"I visited the Greenwood Country Tea Room today with my mom and sister to attend High Tea for mom's birthday. I have to say, the experience was fabulous. High tea started at 1 PM and we were seated in a very quaint room at a beautifully set table by the window. There's a comfortable amount of space between the tables and they actually had two rooms that they served. The tea sets used were all floral themed at our table, and though the teacup and saucer did not match the plate settings. The eclectic mix worked. We had an iced peach tea on the table as well as an assortment of hot teas throughout the meal. The meal began with a cup of carrot, ginger soup, garnished with a sprig of celery. The soup was beautifully spiced and tasted amazing. It paired well with both the iced peach tea and the hot berry tea. sidenote the berry tea had a lovely pink color to it which made for a surprisingly nice contrast against the orange of the carrot ginger soup. We were also excited to get it that we forgot to take pictures until we've had a few bites each. Lol.Course a small chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was grilled perfection with fresh made croutons and a homemade Caesar dressing. The dressing was a hint more tangy than I'm used to, but not at all fishy even my mom who does not like Caesar dressing enjoyed the salad. I think we must've all been hungrier than we thought when we arrive because we forgot to take pictures of the salad all together. it looked like any normal chicken Caesar salad and came on a small 6 inch plate. The downtime in between the salad course and the entrée was a bit longer, but it left a good opportunity for us to enjoy each other's company and conversation. Everyone around the room seemed perfectly content to leisurely enjoy each and no one seemed to mind the intervals between. When the sandwich course came out, it was actually a selection of small sandwiches and pastries with a hint of fruit as well. We had apricot ham sandwich, quarters, plain scones, blueberry scones, turkey pesto pastries (Looked like puff pastry coils), and a strawberry chicken salad on a slice of brown bread. I've never been a chicken salad fan, but I did try it here and the addition of the strawberries and other various fruits at least made it edible for me; however, both my mom and sister do like chicken salad and they raved about this one. The scones were top-notch; buttery and the perfect amount of sweet. They tiered sandwiches and pastries also came with a homemade fresh lemon curd that was smooth and velvet and enhanced the flavors of the scones and the sandwiches. The apricot ham was amazing and was served on what tasted like a cinnamon raisin bread. The turkey pesto pastry was fluffy with a slight crumble to the pastry, and the pesto inside was made to perfection. There were four pieces of each item on the tray and everyone in our small group had a second helping of something so there was nothing left at the end of the course. The sandwich trays also contained a small assortment of fruit, including orange slices, carved kiwi, and some grapes. After the sandwich course they came around and cleared the plates from the table and refilled our hot tea cup with a wonderfully scented lavender tea. After that they brought out dessert, which was absolutely crazy. Each of us got our own plate of mini desserts, which included a homemade cookie, chocolate cake, a yellow cake with raspberry cream, strawberry shortcake, lemon, poppyseed cake with a hint of blueberry. My favorite dessert was the raspberry cake; however, the favorites were different around the table. The lavender tea again was the perfect pair for the selection of desserts. When we finished the meal, it was almost 3 o'clock so we had been there for about two hours. It did not feel like two hours and it was time well spent with the girls in our family. The tea room staff was pleasant and attentive, but not overly present. They had amazing food and fabulous service. Before we left, we were already asking when they were going to be doing high tea again. For the record, I only do it about twice a year, but they are open with a regular menu for a few hours in the middle of the day Wednesday through Saturday. I highly recommend that you join them for a meal and a good time with family and friends."
"This restaurant knows what flavor is. WOW. We sat at the bar and had EXCELLENT service. The drinks were so good, the food was AMAZING. This restaurant is so pretty and Dia De Los Muertos vibe. Some of the best Mexican I've had. The street corn is seriously my favorite!"
"We arrived at 8:45 pm and were the only people in the restaurant. Not sure why though. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered spicy edamame and the waitress said they didn't have spicy. She asked chef, he made it special for us. The Sashimi came in a very tasty, sweet Ponzu sauce. The Tempura Shrimp was an appetizer that came with tempura a squash, sweet potato, mushroom."
"So good! And the nicest people. I don't think our drink glasses were ever less than half full. The pork belly and grits was delicious! Different from anything I've ever had, but will be craving now!"
"Delicious food for a great value. Staff was amazing, our waitress was in her 2nd day and if we asked something she didn't know she would go find the answer. Family friendly environment, many locals which we loved. Plan to return!"
"We were able to walk right in and we sat ourselves at our table. They had a nice variety of options fried & steamed rice. Different chicken, beef and shrimp options other things I just can't name it all. A hibachi Station and sushi. It was several families there but it was not even loud at all."
"My favorite non buffet Chinese takeout in the metro. I live in Olathe but anytime I am in Lees Summit I try to stop here. Love the General Taos Chicken and the Crab Rangoon. It's a small lobby, nothing fancy but the food is always fresh, hot, and my meal is never soggy, the chicken stays crisp for the duration of the meal."
"I tried China Wok for the first time and enjoyed all the food. Everything tasted great. The only item that needed more flavor was the fried rice. The fried rice was pretty bland tasting. I would suggest adding egg to the rice and some teriyaki for flavor. I would go back and grab a meal again."
"Very nice sandwich, candy, coffee, desert, and ice cream shop! Never seen anything quite like this. Had a Reuben sandwich with a cup potato soup for lunch was very delicious! I would have never know this place was there unless client took me there!"
"Such a great little place that reminds me of Cheers!! When we were paying the owner asked where we were from and I told him KC. He said no wonder. I was like what heck? Do we stand out or something?? So I asked.... He said it was bc they had been there for four years and we had never been in! That's impressive! The owner was super nice, bubbly guy and apparently very aware of his customers! We each had a spring roll and then split the spicy beef noodle soup. Everything came out fast and super hot. The spring rolls were only 99¢, but I will say they were pretty small. The soup was a huge piping hot bowl that was really great. The restaurant was small, but we didn't have any trouble finding a seat. The only thing I'd ding them for was the lid of the fish sauce was dirty. That's one of those things that bothers me. It's just that little extra attention to cleanliness that I appreciate."
"It's average Chinese food. Quick and friendly. We did take out and it is pretty good for the price. The egg rolls seemed to need a little more time in the fryer they were cold inside. The egg drop soup was excellent. The orange chicken was decent but the rice was a little crunchy. I think it was just an off night in the kitchen. We will try it again."
"Very impressed does not do it justice. From the welcoming greeting as we walked in to the chips and salsa (not salted - perfect for those of us with high blood pressure!) - my asada chimichanga was perfect. Good quality steak, cooked perfectly. My spouse had the steak platter and the steak again was top quality. We ended with flan. Perfect for my taste. Not overly sweet. Now the extras that nobody else notices: a disabled couple came in and was seated at a table near the front of the restaurant. So many tones we eat out and see a hostess put disabled people in the back of a restaurant. When they left, the manager opened the emergency exit so they could have a closer exit to the parking lot. I appreciate people caring for elderly and disabled people."
"Top Soup Does NOT Play! So Happy We Came! My Husband And I Popped In On A Wednesday At Peak Dinner Time And To Our Surprise, We Were The Only Customers! The Ambience Looks Like It Would Be Alot If Fun! It Has A Bar, Open Grill And Lots Of Space For Seating And Hosting. I Know They Are New To The Area And Im Sure They Would Like More Traction. The Food Though SO SO SO GOOD! I Ordered The Top Soup Special With Spicy Soup And Goodnesssss! YES! The Spicy Added So Much Dimension Of Flavor And Really Kicked It Up A Notch! I LOVED IT! The Pork Buns Were Yummy Too! I Would Say 10/10 To Top Soup! I Can't Wait To Return And I Know Their Success Will Keep Growing!"
"I will be the first to admit that I am not the best when it comes to Sushi. I have specific things I like and some common flavours that I just don't. Mango for one. And it is in so many sushi options! Urg! But, here we go...This place is fun. The interior is nicely appointed and not crowded. The location has a separate room for large parties that doubles for secondary dining. The bar runs along one side and entertains guest by rolling in front of them and there are TVs usually with the game on if that is what you desire. The booths are high-backed and give decent privacy so you are eating with your group and not the entire restaurant. My standard here is to get one regular sushi roll (Dinosaur) and one fried roll (Godzilla). Though I have had many others and find them all delicious for what they are. I can also recommend the Hibachi here but this place is Sushi-forward and suggest you go with the roll first if you can. And if you get the big group of sharers together all the better... because then you can get rolls and hibachi! Also getting a large amount of rolls they present it on a wooden ship which is kind of a fantastic experience.Very good job on all the extras too! The apps are extremely good and the soups are amazingly delicious!I'll be here so if you see me say hi!"
"This is authentic Thai cuisine! Every dish, from papaya salad to pad Thai and Krapow have the true Thai flavor profile. I haven't had a bad dish here yet and am so happy they're reasonably priced and close to home. The service is friendly and fast. This place is a gem!"
"Super nice staff, huge, interesting menu and delicious food. Is it over priced? My $8 hamburger says yes; my $3 chefs salad says no.So a solid idk in that category. Food is good. Not fast, but not excessively slow. This is a restaurant of contradictions and idks. Go try it out yourself! 4 stars, because I wasn't sure if 5 stars was accurate. But 4 sure is!"
