Scott T. "One of the great retail stores in the city, worthy of making a destination from Kansas City, Topeka and beyond I'd say. And while a visit in person is a real must that's not to be missed, most are surprised to learn they ship products all over the U.S.In addition to Birkenstocks, which is what put them on the map, they also deal in Dansko, Haflinger and Chaco products. I brought a new family member from Canada in for his first pair of "Birks" and he was utterly thrilled with the experience. In spite of being told there'd be a break-in period, he barely was seen without them before heading back home. And yes, he wore them on the plane. As a long-time but infrequent customer because their products last, always happy to spread the word about the good work doing here."

Karen P. "I have extremely high arches, a chronic running injury and feet that are in between 2 sizes. I'm not one of those people who can just grab any old pair of cheap shoes at Old Navy or Walmart. My shoes have to actually help my feet as I go about my day, and The Foot Spot has helpful employees and a nice selection of shoes for people who realize that good shoes may be an expensive investment, but they're worth it in the long run. For my running & walking shoes, I wear Brooks or Asics. I don't believe those brands are available here, but the store Elite Feet has them and they're easy to find online too. For summer shoes and special occasion shoes I like Foot Spot's selection the best. They have brands like Vionic, Tape, Wolky, and Finn, to name just a few. Most of them are still pretty to look at and not screaming 'I have problem feet that are hard to fit so I have to wear these butt ugly shoes' like used to be the case. There are many choices for men & women here. You probably won't find anything less than $60 and they can go upwards of $200 or more, but they do have a sale room filled with lots of great deals- I scored some darling New Balance rose gold sandals for only $27!! Get on their mailing list to get coupons, offers, and notifications of sales."

I knew this is the perfect store to find walking shoes for her. She was presented with 3 options to try first and she found a pair that she loves and fits perfectly. They carry large sizes which helps too. Her feet are a size 12 which is difficult to find. She also found some slides that have excellent support for kicking around the house."

They are a bit pricey, but locally made. Also, The Foot Spot has Brooks and other fantastic walking and running shoes. They can make orthotics too. But my favorite thing is the HUGE selection of Oofos!! I wear them a lot. I have slides, house shoes and sneakers by Oofos. I had to play the send it back and forth game with Zappos because the sizing is a little different. For my subsequent pairs, I will just visit The Foot Spot. Yay! Great shop and knowledgeable staff and owners."

I could have had them repaired in NYC, but I wanted to throw some business to my home town Topeka cobblers. I am so glad I did. They just absolutely nailed the job. I knew what I wanted done, they had no problem accommodating my request, and the workmanship exceeded my high expectations. I can't tell you how happy I am with the work they did. I feel like I'm now likely to bring all my shoe work that needs to be done back to Topeka every year when I'm home for the holidays! WELL DONE!!"

Candice S. "I almost didn't come in here at all because of the astounding number of negative reviews. I haven't been to a Plato's closet specifically before, but I am very familiar with high end thrift shops. When I went in, I was promptly greeted. I was able to navigate the store easily. There were a few items that I wanted to try on, but a line was forming at the dressing rooms and after waiting a while it didn't seem like it would ever move. I looked up Plato's return policy on line and decided that it would be worth it to just drive back and return if needed as this location is very close to me. When I was checking out, the cashier helped me sign up for their rewards program and let me know that since it was Tuesday I was earning double points. I will definitely come back. I'm sorry to hear about all of the other experiences people have had here."

I picked up my packet, and then took some time to take in the store itself. First of all it's a small store, but I really liked that they had a big variety of brands, including Glyder and Hoka, which are both brands I really enjoy. They had a sale going while I was there and items in my size were picked over, but had I known about it and gotten in on the action sooner I think I could have snagged some really great deals. Overall, it's a small store, with great items, and friendly service. I love that it's local, and it's a fantastic option if you are looking to purchase some running shoes and avoid a big box store."

Adam S. "Rally House might have the market cornered on local apparel, but it's not my favorite shopping errand to run. The other Plaza location has a claustrophobic feeling of an overfilled closet, so it's I'll say it is nice that this location is so much larger. Bigger isn't always better though, as I haven't been able to find anything here for my daughters. For adults, you typically can find something you'd like here, albeit about 25% over expected price. On my latest trip in there, I was eager to find little things for her school's spirit week, like socks, selection of headbands or bows, a Chiefs dress or cheerleader outfit. I looked high and low, and nope. It was pretty much split between baby gear or 6th grade and up kid of kid's gear. A lot of stuff was strewn about so it was tough to navigate. After much rummaging, I stumbled across a headband on the floor that might fit my daughter, so fortunately I came away with something. Unfortunately for them during Super Bowl week, they informed me the credit card machines were down. I'll still come in here, it's the closest option and there are some solid options for adults, but I would love to see more things for kids so I can outfit my girls too."

Dawn C. "If you like high quality 2nd hand clothes shopping this place will knock your socks off. It's HUGE. It's very well organized (by item and then by size). You'll find mostly name brand items (some new with tags) in all categories except swimwear and intimates. Browsed a little and seems to be geared towards classier things I would wear to work and then fancy casual stuff you'd wear on a cruise or to brunch to meet your potential in laws. For example sheath dresses for $15. (It isn't a thrift shop atmosphere, this isn't a flip flops and neon t-shirts place.)Happy to report they have a good selection of plus sizes too (up to 6x). That's pretty rare. I brought in a few items to sell and liked the easy process. They ask for your phone number and then text you the form to fill out to become a seller. Then you can see where you are in the process (waiting, sorting, offer ready). You can drop stuff off and not have to wait around for the offer because they text you when it is ready.Right now they are only buying as they stock the store. They plan to be open for shoppers by the end of June."

Wish they were open longer hours- but that's my only complaint. I'm pretty loyal to my Brooks running shoes now and they've always got them in stock. Btw, they recently moved- but not far away. Rhonda S. "Visited this shop to get my Burton snowboard boots heat adjusted, and buy crash shorts. I'm 2 days shy of 49, and I need crash shorts. (Now I'm invincible!) I had my son with me...(skateboarder, snowboarder). Ride Four Ever is off of Quivera, and 87th street. It is inside a soccer complex, housing 2 soccer fields and a youth pro shop. There's a pizza shop upstairs. When you enter the complex, the store is to the left. It says Ride Four Ever on the front of the building. The store is cedar walls with colorful decorations. It makes you want to buy something. They carry top name snowboards (Forum, Ride, Burton....), top brand skateboards, top brand longboards, and wakeboards. They are the only shop that carries full body protection. No place in Kansas City has non playtoy wrist guards, and crash shorts. Serious stuff, and helmets as well. They have winter gear in the winter, which is on sale now. The snowboard binding collection and snowboard room is stocked full, with some of the snowboards on sale. They carry skis, ski boots, snowboard boots, and skateboard shoes. Their skateboard shop is immense, and is on the top floor. They have a certain skateboard by Shaun Malto, and Boulevard Beer. There is mini ramp is in a separate area and is $5.00 for 30 minutes. "Completely legit," is how my son described it.The staff is incredible. It's a store where you leave with something. Rhonda S. "I haven't reviewed these guys yet? Wow... slap on the hand. I like medals. So I run all the 5ks I possibly can and my obsession for medals is getting worse. But my taste in how a race is produced and implemented is starting to become picky. So as of this year, I mostly run (or blow off and walk) 5ks that are produced by KC Running Company. A girl has to have the best running shoes made and every piece of gear possible she can buy. So this is where these guys come in. I work close to this location and have entered it countless of times for race packets. It's next to Waldo Pizza. I walk past it all the time. It's like a candy store in there. I bought my Brooks Ghost in there the other day and by golly the guy who runs it (his brother runs the Martin City location) talked me into running Rock The Parkway. It never stops. I would totally suggest running any race produced by KC Running Company. Just stop in and start talking and I bet they talk you into running one of the races. The store is a great running store with top notch gear. The guys are runners and they know their equipment. I love this store and totally suggest it if you need a pair of running shoes."

Ed L. "I needed new shoes. Just so happens that packet pick up for the 2019 Gobbler Grind half marathon was held at this Gary Gribble running store in Overland Park, KS as well. I like it.I was told that Gary Gribble Running Store is one of the better specialty running stores in the greater Kansas City area. And so, it was nice to do a 2 for one stop shop here and picked up a pair of new running shoes to kick off the new year of racing and running. Gary Gribble Running store seemed to be like any other running store from the outset, but the knowledge of the staff here of running and shoe mechanics can help you get into your best shoes and give you that confidence to start yourself on a healthy path to fitness or racing. Most of their inventory are running shoes, but they sell other running related items, such as clothing, running accessories, and items that are need during a running event- like GU and body glide, among other items. Gary Gribble Running Sports can be your next stop for running shoes, if you're in the Overland Park, Kansas area. For myself though, I actually stumbled upon a sale and got those aforementioned shoes at a 20% discount, which was amazing!! I had a 10% discount coupon for the yelp check in but couldn't combine it with my existing purchase. Oh well. Next time, I guess. The store itself was arranged neatly and you could find what you're looking for.I did enjoy the knowledgeable staff about shoes that I forgot about. They explained to me about running situations and issues that I've known for a while, but it's nice to get a refresher once in a while. They're the bestest! The overall experience here at Gary Gribble Running Sports was good, positive, and nice. It's always great to be in a running shoe store, probably because I run marathons and stuff like that. It's always nice to transition into new shoes for the next 500 miles of running. With that said, this Gary Gribble Running Sports store is located in the Ward Parkway shopping center in the heart of Overland Park, KS. It's address is 8600 Ward Parkway. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash for any purchase. Since they are inside the shopping mall, there is genuinely plenty of parking for you all to park. Not sure if Kansas City's public transportation comes through this area or not, but best bet would be to have your own rental car or have uber / lyft app on your phone for quick and easy access for on demand rides. For the most part though, I was satisfied with my purchase and got a 20% discount too. It was around the price range I was looking for - after the discount. If you are looking to start a fitness program for your health, starting that couch to 5km program, or even half marathon or marathon training, consider coming to the Gary Gribble running sports here in Overland Park to discuss your running goals and they can get you into that comfortable training shoes to get you started on the path to a healthy and inspirational success. The service was friendly and nice. I could see myself coming back here for more shoes, if my travels permit me to do so. For the most part though, the experience here was memorable and I was happy with my purchase, especially with my friends whom were also trying to get new shoes as well that day. I would recommend coming here for your next pair of running shoes. If you don't know what you need, ask the knowledgeable staff of your goals and they can fit you into that pair of shoes that is designed to take you where you want to go. I enjoyed my time here on a Saturday afternoon here and hope you will too. It's like being a kid in the candy store for me. Tracy I. "This place is so jam packed with merchandise and people that it's well worth your visit! Clothing, jeans, boots, jewelry and odds and ends galore! Okay, so that being said, here's the story...We were in the area for a ball tourney and had about 1 1/2 hours to kill in between games. Our choices were (1) a going-out-of-business sale at Office Depot (save your time and skip this altogether), (2) looking at pleather footwear at Payless shoes (thanks, no thanks), (3) roaming the aisles of a nearby Walgreens (and purchasing unnecessary bags of Halloween candy), or (4) checking out Nigro's. Since I'd driven by numerous times without a stop in, the latter won my time. And later...my money...The rundown... Upon entering the door, you will be immediately greeted. And I'm not talking about some weak and feeble "hi, welcome to Nigro's" brush off. You will get a hearty hello as if you've been there 100 other times before. Warning! Warning! This good feeling will immediately put you further in the mood to spend cash. And even if this was a stop off spot to kill some time in between ball games...you WILL spend some cash. And speaking of spending cash (or check or charge), the prices are pretty reasonable with sales going on for certain things all the time. Bonus! The owners are there and are incredibly fun and personable. I enjoy the Nigro Brothers Auctioneer services and now I love this store!"

While I'd never been here and made a point of stopping in to see what they offered, I really appreciated the attention and casual banter with the gentlemen working that day. Did see a number of items that caught my eye and may need to return as they were a little more summer fashion leaning--not that I'm any kind of fashion icon-- but I do play one on TV.If you come, parking on busy Broadway can be a challenge but here's my rec: making a real KC kind of experience by parking across the street at Town Topic and dive right into some of their food. Is it possible to really understand this town if you don't ever dine here? I don't think so. I got on the treadmill so he could see how I run, and he video taped my feet. Then he carefully measured my feet, both, and suggested shoes from one of the categories. I was pleased that the Saucony Guide was top of the category, and well,I have good taste. He bought out 3 pairs of shoes, including the Saucony, which I decided on. I might not even have to wear my plantar fascitis orthotic cause the shoe has orthotic support.I also loaded up on good socks.
