"My husband took me here for our anniversary. This is a business causal upper scale restaurant. With valet parking.It's not only a restaurant it is an experience. They do the little touches that used to be common with fine dinning. IE: crumb sweeping, serving of a dish, bring out and placing of correct silverware to be used etc. Since they knew it was our anniversary, they gave us a hand written card and some rose petals.We started off with drinks and an appetizer. The delicious drinks were presented side table and a fun experience. My husband had the Smoked Old Fashioned. I had the joy of The Hope Diamond. We enjoyed the very tasty and fresh Ahi Tuna Tartare for our appetizer. Dinner we decided to continue with the seafood theme. And the flavors were delicious.I had the special of Alaskan Halibut. Which was delightful. My husband had the Sea Bass.We decided to add on the Lobster and white cheddar mashed potatoes. The portions on the entrées and the side dish were all generous.For dessert, our waiter (not server), brought us a complimentary (special occasion) treat. Which was fabulous and my husband wanted more. A sampling of their Bananas Foster Buttercake with butter pecan icecream and their double chocolate cookies.I am not sure if they do this all the time, but more than likely they do.We were not disappointed with our visit/experience and we will definitely be back. The cost may seem pricey but if you take in the details and that its an experience. It was worth it to us."

"This was our first visit to 801 so I wasn't sure what to expect. As other said, this is a smaller chain with prime steaks. They have a large selection of steaks and there's a rolling cart they bring around showcasing the raw meat. We opted to share the prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes, French onion soup and of course, chocolate cake.The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The mashed potatoes were whipped with garlic and very creamy. The French onion soup was amazing. I'd come back for it alone. And, of course the chocolate cake was fab.It's a pricer place but great for special occasions. They have a few $2k bottles of wine and one that's 4K. The service started off a bit slow but picked up nicely."

"Sometimes the dining stars align. Not all who wander through Parkville are lost but find themselves at Cafe Des Ami's doorstep by happy happenstance. With no reservations on a Friday night and 5 minute wait we were ushered to the outdoor dining area. Sublime breeze and a tree house like feel. Candles lit, wine sipped as we chatted with our young hostess. It's a family ran business and our hostess is first generation and her parents both French are busy taking care of patrons too. They go back to Paris every year and she's having a great first week back to school. Beef short ribs and a Le Creuset filled with mussels, shrimp, salmon in creamy wine sauce arrive. Both are divine and we leave no morsel behind thanks to the hot bread. Everything about the experience is thoughtful, meant to be enjoyed thoroughly. I almost felt bad snapping the image of it all, but just almost. It was a night worth remembering and eagerly look forward to repeating it."

"We tried this place for the first time tonight. It was pretty good. I was a little dubious about eating oysters in the middle of America, but these were good. They had a wide selection of oysters and I picked three of them and they were lovely.I also had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, and the prawns were enormous if not a wee bit overcooked. They were kind of chewy. The cocktail sauce was excellent.My wife shared the calamari appetizer with her sister, and they both enjoyed it. The hush puppies were excellent!My wife shrimp was a little bit too spicy for her. The menu said hot shrimp, which she assumed to be warm, but it was actually spicy. I had the crispy fish tacos and they were wonderful. I like spicy things and especially enjoyed the habanero salsa. We were all too full for dessert, but they did look good. We are happy to return to Pearl Tavern soon."

"The only thing that dimmed our experience at Jarocho was the wildly uncomfortable blue light emitted from the daylight bulbs that the restaurant has. That being said, the ceviches we had were probably the best I've ever had, and I have spent nearly a year of my life (on and off) working and living in Mexico. The shrimp gumbo was perfect. The server was attentive, accommodating (we asked to be moved to a table with warm light bulbs, which they have at some tables) and super smiley and helpful with great suggestions. Again, the only complaint from this is one I have with ANY restaurant that uses daylight bulbs. They ruin the warmth and the aesthetic of any and all restaurants. I feel petty putting it in a yelp review, but I sincerely think that Jarocho could up its numbers with this simple change; and I would love it if this place could exist forever."

"We stopped by this location on the Plaza because I had some Landry rewards points I needed to use before I lost them. Oh boy! We were in for a treat! Arianna was our delightful server and she was so kind and helpful! The restaurant is gorgeous and well appointed. They have a wonderful way about them here. Arianna knew her way around the wine list. We started with the suggested pour which was a delightful Sav Blanc from Justin on the Central Coast (NV). It was glorious!! I can see why they are highlighting it. I'll be buying a case. I had some lovely oysters and the shrimp cocktail to start. My wife had the clam chowder which is her favorite on Earth and I also love. The complimentary sourdough bread was amazingly delicious!For mains I had the sirloin, which was better than the Golden Ox version I had a few nights ago. By far. My wife had pan seared sea scallops with sherry cream sauce and risotto with peas and micro greens. It was all outstanding. We moved to the area from Vegas 15 months ago and both agreed this is the best meal out we've had so far in KC. Delicious!! McCormick & Schmick's and the vivacious Arianna delivered!"

"I truly have not had a dining experience like this in a long time, and it was nice to be reminded of what it's like to have amazing service. The occasion was a date night and I'm so glad we chose Piropos. The serving staff did an amazing job and were very attentive throughout the night. We had the empanadas as a starter along with their in-house prepared bread. Then for my entree I had the nights special, which included a lobster tail, sirloin, jasmine rise, and grilled asparagus. For dessert we sampled their Churros Al Chocolate and Torta de Banana. Everything was amazing and so savory. My favorite had to be the empanadas, the jasmine rice I had as my side, and the lobster tail. Overall, I was super impressed with our service. While we had some hiccups in the night, the staff was nothing short of accommodating, and made our visit perfect. I will definitely return and I highly recommend trying Piropos out!"

I'm vegan and from seattle, my brother-in-law is vegetarian, and this place can accommodate dietary restrictions (sort of).There's basically one vegan options -- hummus and bread (it's actually very good), Greek salad without cheese, and then they make me some pasta with red sauce and veggies (not on the menu).My cousin is gluten free and they got her some meat and veggies.The vegetarian can eat risotto off the menu, but when I asked about the cauliflower steak I was told there was chicken stock in the sauce (?!?), might want to double check on that bc it seems like it's vegetarian based on the menu description. My cousin's steak once came out way too undercooked and she sent it back. I don't think anyone's been really blown away from the food, and I personally think it's probably a little overpriced for what you get. To his credit, Brandon, the guy who serves us in the separate room every time, is incredibly patient and helpful and answers all our questions and deals with us when we move tables and are just generally chaotic.I think there's two side rooms you can reserve, and one time when we were there the one next door had very loud music and cheering -- we discovered it was a 21st birthday with a belly dancer, so I guess there's that."

"Had a nice dinner! Wanted to give this steakhouse a try. Our group of four had the bone in KC strip, Filet Mignon with crab, and the Chilean Seabass. We got the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer and for sides the lobster Mac and Cheese and brussel sprouts. The food was all delicious. Filet mignon was cookedto perfection and very tender. The bone in was ordered "medium" and was over cooked, closer to well done. We hand the Soufflé for dessert and it was good too. This is an elegant restaurant and service was friendly and attentive. However at the end of the day the food was OVER PRICED and we liked J Gilbert's better. They have a better menu, with more Variety, for a better price. They also have wood fired steaks that taste better. J Gilbert's is the better steakhouse."

"First time eating here. I was actually quite impressed. Arrived around 5:30, so it was already getting dark. The place literally looked like a hole in the wall from the outside. We were immediately greeted upon entering and seated. Server came right away and took our drink orders. Ordered some hush puppies for an appetizer, which I didn't realize came with a meal when you ordered it. My mom and I ordered the large shrimp platter, which was 1# of shrimp. It was DELICIOUS and tasty with lots of flavor! I would highly recommend it! We also ordered the chocolate chip cookie sundae for dessert. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The cookie was rather dry even with the ice cream on top of it. The strawberry cake was just okay, nothing really to brag about. The service was good and she kept our ice tea filled up for the most part. She had a bubbly personality as well. I would recommend this place. Don't always judge a place by the way the outside looks! We happen to be there on a night Santa and Mrs. Claus was visiting."

Children dinners for $5. Desserts for $5-$8. Wanted to the red beans and rice but not for $15 an order. No liquor license yet but others brought their own liquor in to drink. No band playing tonight had a small setup in corner. Mixture of tables and table/booths, 4 large TV's on wall, & small room in back. Very clean. Would go back if we ordered in advance."

The quality of food was just ridiculous In every Great way possible. I'm also glad I opted mild spice instead of going Spicy like I usually do with this style cuisine, but I'm definitely gonna go Much spicier next time since I know it's gonna be incredible. The restaurant itself was really neat and rich with history! I appreciate how they went about allowing customers to leave some sort of signature or hand-drawn record behind wherever they sat or gathered there. Writing, drawings, and artwork was everywhere in there! That definitely added entertainment to our experience. I already know I'm going back in the future, and when I do I'm gonna had my signature and perhaps a little doodle or two! I'm bummed none of us thought to do so while there last night lol..
