"Came here on a business trip from San Diego. I wanted to see what's the favorite spots in Lawrence. This spot is legit.The food is excellent, service is very accommodating, and beer selection is great. The food menu has a lot of European takes to it which is awesome to complement the beers. It's very busy during dinner which tells me everyone goes here. I'm Filipino, so I had to try their Lumpia's (Filipino Egg rolls) here which is left field. It was good, but needed some improvements. Portion is kinda small and thin. It's needs shrimp mixed to it or add extra pork added to its thickness. The dipping sauce needs a little tad sweetness to it like honey to it to off set the tangy flavor. But I respect the take. However, I order their French dip sandwich. It was very delicious with the Au Jus sauce. You definitely need to order the Onion Rings on the side. Onions Rings was one of the best I had."

Our servers were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken. While the food looked appetizing, flavors disappoint, save for standout fries. Overall, a mixed bag - with potential for improvement."

"Y'all I love Waldo Pizza. Sure, some folks could probably find some flaws here. I've had some prickly encounters with the carry out staff over the years, and it can take a long while to get a pizza delivered on a busy weekend night but good god this pizza is good. I would categorize Waldo pizza in the same sort of midwest pizza parlor style as Minskys but IMO it's the GOAT for KC. From local ingredients to the tastiest crust I think it's a slam dunk. Heck, even their homemade ranch is some of the best in biz. The icing on the cake for me with Waldo is that despite living way too far for them to deliver they will and while it takes forever that's okay given that they are still doing it and it is MUCH appreciated. If it needs a quick zap in the microwave it still hits the spot. I usually try to pick up a pizza from here whenever I'm in the area around dinner time as that's the best way to do carry out from them. I'll also add that dining in is always a win for me as well, though I rarely do so anymore."

Having come here several times before the expansion, I want to like this place and I've had some great sandwiches from here in the past, but that unfortunately not the case this week. I arrived at 6:15 earlier this week and went upstairs to order, but noticed the door was already locked. I walked up to the pick up window, which was still open (the door that used to be the entrance for ordering pre-expansion) and stood there for over 5 minutes before being acknowledged even though another staff member walked by 3-4 times prior. The other employee then told me that they were out of bread and had to close 2 hours early.When I came back the next day, I made sure to call and order ahead to make sure they have enough bread available. I was told it would be ready for pick up in 15 minutes, but ended up waiting half hour. Poor guy was prepping many orders by himself for about 20-25 minutes until another coworker came up to help him out get caught up. The staff was very friendly that day, so it sucks to see them be overworked. It seems like staffing and preparation for the day is their main issue. If that gets figured out, they could go back to a 5-star experience."

"In addition to popping up in my research of Topeka, The Wheel Barrel was also recommended by a local shop owner. We walked in and chose a seat at the far end of the first dining area. A table with a booth on the side against the wall, and chairs on the other side. We started with an appetizer of the House seasoned kettle chips and craft beer queso. It was goooood. The chips were SO good, we actually took the ones we didn't finish with us to go. Next, we ordered our sammiches. My wife chose the Award Winning Monte Cristo, and I went with The Kansan. My wife loved her sammich. But mine... well, mine left me momentarily speechless. The cheese pull was insane! Every single ingredient combined for an incredible flavor explosion in my mouth. Without a doubt one of the best sammiches I've ever had. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was fast. We were visiting from California, but would absolutely return to The Wheel Barrel the next time we visited Topeka."

"I met family in Empora at Do-B's based off of Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! This is a solid old school diner and literally everything on the menu is good. From milkshakes to po-boys, you will love your meal here. I knocked it down one star for two reasons: it's a small place so seating is at a premium! I didn't notice this from other reviews so if you have a big group, this probably isn't the place for you, or you may want to consider carry out. Also, the restrooms are on the exterior of the building. Granted, they are clean, but with a toddler and dodging freezing rain the day we visited, it was a massive drag to have to ask for a key and then trudge outside, dodging cold rain to use the restroom. To make matters worse someone on the stairwell above us poured a TON of dirty water right in front of where you wait and we nearly got drenched. So, that literally put a damper on the experience (pun intended!). At any rate, I'd 100% return the food is incredible, the people nice, and the ambiance is clean and nostalgic."

We had a trainer/trainee combo, so attention was there with no issues.We ordered the garlic cheese bread and the meatball with cheese as appetizers, and while I personally think the meatball was a tad pricey for what you get, it was good so if you haven't had it before i recommend it at least once. The bread was almost a perfect consistency of chewy cheesy goodness.That's where the wow factor kinda ends as we head into the main course:We ordered 2 medium build your own split pizzas... and .. well, they were pizzas, nothing really to write home about. "This is a super fun and one of the most unique venues in KC. It's large with different rooms for dinner, drinks, and live music. And the ambiance is on point with the nautical theme. We started with some drinks and dinner. I went with one of their drink specials, the Dragonfruit margarita-Silver Tequila, fresh lime, agave, and dragonfruit. It was really sweet and summery. This would be fantastic on a hot summer evening on their patio. My partner ordered a fig Manhattan and thought it was good. I ordered the Cubano: shaved ham, salami, roasted pork loin, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo and mustard, pressed french roll. This version reminded me of a Cuban that the foundry had before they closed. It was one of my favorites and I'm so glad I ordered this one. I love the addition of the salami and I appreciate the pressed French roll. I'd definitely order it again. I upgraded my side to the smoked Mac and cheese: creamy classic mac and cheese, hickory smoked Kansas City style. This was some of the best Mac and cheese that I've had in KC. I would totally order it by itself as an entree. My partner tried the KC Reuben: hickory smoked pastrami, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, kc special thousand island, marbled rye. He said it had good flavor but the meat was a little on the fatty side. But he still ate it and said it was overall good. He also tried the coleslaw. He said it was alright. It had celery and red peppers so it was a little non traditional and it was chopped pretty large. We also ordered a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo. It also had a good flavor and we'd definitely order it again. After dinner we made our way over to the music venue side. They do have a few tables throughout but you'd need to arrive early to snag one because they fill up fast. They also have bars in a few different locations so you can easily grab a drink. The dance floor in the middle is fun. It quickly filled up with people and there were even some dance offs. Definitely check out this spot and grab food, drinks, and listen to some music."

It's one of my son's favorites. We never seem to have an issue with the hostesses and are generally seated pretty quickly. I'm not sure how the server sections work here, but from here it seems like it always takes 15-20+ minutes to get to us, even when it's not busy. On the worst occasion, I think I waited 35 minutes just to get drinks with several wait staff walking past us multiple times. After that though, and orders are in, things seem to go smoothly and move along as expected. As I mentioned before, the food is always good. My husband usually gets sandwiches or wraps. I change it up sometimes but recently I've been getting the curry. I used to think it was odd to have curry on an other American-style restaurant, but dang is it good here. I definitely recommended adding the blackened shrimp too! Another favorite of mine is the wedge salad + add grilled salmon.3 stars for spotty service, but bumped up to 4 stars for consistently good food."

(Very pricey in my opinion. I paid $11 for a juice. A very good juice though!) We ordered the breakfast burrito which was very tasty, the sweet potato fries with a honey mustard aioli, and the Genoveve pizza which was incredible! We will for sure go back here, maybe even pick up dinner that they have pre made in the fridges!"
