"Been wanting to try here forever in a day. Late brunch brought us in on a Sunday. Service was prompt. Beautiful old building. Cubano my Hubs ordered was pretty legit. My Benedict was terrible. Too much tarragon and dill in the hollandaise left all other flavors struggling to compete. Ate a few bites because it was kind of pricey at $22, but really couldn't force myself to eat anymore. Will take home to the dog. I will probably never find myself here again. Even the Cubano was good, but not have to have again."

The Phoenix

"TL;DR: If you love live music, especially 80s/90s and jazz, come by the Phoenix. Would highly recommend for fans of Green Lady looking for some place to grab a bite earlier in the day. The drinks are decent, the prices are reasonable, the portions are good, and the atmosphere makes up for everything else. The Phoenix is a bit off the beaten path and less well-known than Green Lady and Black Dolphin, but it has a strong history in Kansas City (it served illegal alcohol during the Prohibition) and still has a long list of regulars. This bar feels like a neighborhood joint but is very welcoming to newcomers. DRINKS I tend to get their cocktails--if you're looking for a lighter cocktail like I am, I'd recommend the Ride the Wave and Am I the Asshole. Ride the Wave tastes mostly like ginger beer, and Am I the Asshole is a lot of vanilla with notes of lemon and blueberry. They also have a solid pick of anything else you may be looking for. FOOD This is your standard bar fare. I've heard better things about the Phoenix's brunch, but don't come expecting anything outstanding. I would recommend the spin(ach) dip and get it with a side of fries. The fries aren't listed as their own side on the menu, but just ask the staff and they're super accommodating. MUSIC My friends and I came earlier in the evening and got to see Talya and her Boyfriends, who put on an amazing show. We loved the time here and will definitely be back!"

"Everyone has been raving about this place and now!Located in a cute and quiet little mall in Prairie Village, the vibes here were so fresh and chill! It was really cool to have a glassed in kitchen that you can see them cooking your food fresh! The service was really fast and convient. You order at the counter and they bring it out. (Very pricey in my opinion. I paid $11 for a juice. A very good juice though!) We ordered the breakfast burrito which was very tasty, the sweet potato fries with a honey mustard aioli, and the Genoveve pizza which was incredible! We will for sure go back here, maybe even pick up dinner that they have pre made in the fridges!"

"Let me tell you about my new favorite spot for hibachi! We walked in and were greeted with a nice server who sat us in one of their booths. The restaurant is small but the decor and ambience are very inviting. I saw the menu and was debating between the sushi options and the hibachi but I had to have the hibachi! It comes with soup, salad, veggies, rice, and your choice of meats. The salad and soup were good but my favorite starter was the gyoza! It was perfectly crispy on one side and the filling was actually packed with flavor! After tasting the gyoza I had high hopes for the hibachi and they did not disappoint. The veggies, rice, and meat were all seasoned perfectly and cooked very well! Before I knew it I had finished my plate. If you're looking for a good dinner, I would highly recommend stopping in here."

For about $15 a person, you get a filling meal with plenty of protein and fresh vegetables. The staff is always helpful with figuring out the different options, and suggesting sauces or new proteins to try. You can change the meal up enough to get plenty of variety. I like to turn a meal into two meals by buying a protein side, and combining it with the meal. Then splitting it in half and storing the second half in the fridge for the next day. Love this place! Eat here."

Honestly, the reason I rated it low,is because of the service. The people. The service was horrible, no one greeted us at all! We said hi and got nothing. Stood in the end for like 3 long minutes before anyone said anything, they all seriously looked upset about something. We did not feel welcomed at all."

We went on a Friday and we were seated around the bar within 5 minutes, so hardly a wait!This time around we just opted for the sushi train (you can order off menu, too!) knowing we could get a few apps and some sushi. We ended up seated near one of the chef stations/plating, so we could watch what was being made! This spot did end up being good for seeing what was coming and making selections. We honestly just grabbed a variety and would split most plates. I loved some of the tempura rolls and one with a shredded crab inside and my husband loved the tempura crab stick nigiri. There was a good balance of rolls and nigiri tonight! A little pricier than ordering traditional rolls, but so fun to try bites of several different types!Our only "complaint" was that all the non-roll foods (e.g. crab Rangoons, gyoza) were placed on the train almost directly opposite of us. This meant we almost never even got a chance to grab Rangoons and never got some gyoza. We'd also love to see a menu for the purpose of knowing what the rolls are, mostly to identify our favorites for future visits!"

If you need gf soy sauce, just ask and they will bring you a small bowl of it.The sushi rolls were a little smaller than what I am used to, rice was a little harder as well. The ikura (fish roe) nigiri was brought out at the very end after the meal was finished. Unfortunately, I wasn't highly impressed with my meal. It seems like a consistent place for sushi, and would come back if I were in the area.Our server was super attentive and checked on us throughout. While he made it known that he hasn't tried all of the menu items, he still tried his best to make recommendations and was happy to bring more ginger, water, drinks."

Never having tried jackfruit before I was a little nervous to try the tacos but I was so glad I did. There were so many flavorful components that just came together in harmony. The avocado toast was light and refreshing. The yucca fries are worth the upcharge, best yucca fries I've ever had. Ended the meal with the coconut panna cotta and was not let down at all. I could eat here everyday and not feel like I was missing out on meat or dairy. Bravo to the staff and chefs for providing the community with food worth eating."

Everything I tried was at the proper temperature and tasted great, with plenty of that north Indian creamy goodness. "The food was amazing! Best pasta for a very fair price! Loved how I could go to a laid back shop and pick up great food .I did a to go-order at Pasta Per Favore on a Saturday night. I really wanted good quality food, I didn't want to cook, and I wanted to feel comfortable going to a place to pick up my food in comfortable clothes. I arrived at Pasta Per Favore and there was so much parking! I didn't have to fight for a parking spot so I could go in and order my food (yes I ordered in person). The friendly service was nice. I was also able to view their kitchen which was nice and clean! The kitchen was esthetically pleasing. The cashier was very polite and helpful. Pasta Per Favore also sells some of the adjacent bakery's desserts. I had the gluten free chocolate cake. It was so good! Such a gem!"
