"We had some time to kill and I wanted my little one to burn off some energy before nap time. This was the closest playground, so we came here. It's a huge park with a large pond. Great for walking with friends, family or the dog. But as far as playgrounds go, it was only so-so. It was certainly pretty unique, but not very big or entertaining for a toddler. Also, bonus points for a playground with ample shade. This didn't have that either."
"Great little park in Armour Hills. The kids pool is only open in June and July but is very popular with kids. The playground equipment is adequate but is going to be replaced soon. The tennis court was just rebuilt this spring and some exercise equipment added. Not the largest park but very convenient for the neighborhood."
"Nice trail! We took the dog for a walk around "Nelson Island". The trail follows Mill Creek and meets up with the Kansas River. This spot has open prairie areas and heavily wooded ones. Bring sunscreen and bug spray! We saw lots of turtles, toads, butterflies, and even a snake swimming across the creek. The birds were happily chirping away. Very pretty and relaxing. This is area makes for a great quick getaway from the city. This entrance is the northern most entrance for the trail. There are picnic shelters and a playground available just off the parking lot. A port-a-potty is available, but usually gross, so use the bathroom before you get here."
"This place is awesome and toddler friendly. It's well taken care of and great shady places to hang out while the littles play"
"Adorable little park! My friend and I had lunch at a picnic table here this past weekend. It was completely empty on a gorgeous day! No idea why no families were here as it looked to have some good playground equipment. Nice little park with tons of parking and completely free of others if you want to dominate on the monkey bars."
"A big ol' green space in Brookside, complete with a baseball diamond, tennis courts, a newly revamped playground, Trolley Trail access and sledding (formerly and inappropriately known as Suicide Hill now Brookside Hill).Like many parks, this one benefits from its location in the neighborhood, and is easy to walk to for thousands of homes nearby. It is, in my opinion, not a destination park like Loose Park or Westwood Park are for many. The playground up at the top of the hill has been redone and it's pretty nice; sandbox, slides, a spinner, and pretty traditional things to do for the kids. There's nothing to climb if you have an adventurous kiddo, but plenty of other fun things. In the winter, this is *the* sledding hill for the area, and although it's been many years, I have good memories of this one. This summer season, Wild Way Coffee is setting up on Sunday mornings right by this park which is nice, and it's good to have some green space for the dogs and kids to run."
"This a neat little park tucked away in a quiet Liberty neighborhood. An asphalt trail surrounds the park, which is a bit unique, because it's cut into two sides by a creek. The west side of the park includes a rope-based spiderweb contraption, that the kids can climb and swing from, a softball field, a soccer field and a bathroom facility. The east side of the park includes a playground with some swings, a jungle gym and a slide, a cabana area for groups and lots of green space. It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a place to layout and read a book if the weather is right or a even a place to toss a around a frisbee or a football."
"This is my go-to spot when it is too cold or rainy to go play outside. They charge a small fee to use their displays and play. Not only great fun, but each kid has passed out on the way home. Win win for parents! There is multiple swinger, trampolines, and even a basketball court! There is also a small room used to host parties as well. If it is a nice day, there are also multiple playsets set up outside."
"So much room to play!Happy Rock is a good-sized, family-friendly park. I go to take advantage of their (4) tennis courts which are rarely full. There is a 1.3 mile walking trail that is well-kept. Bicycles are not allowed on the trail though. Additional amenities include restrooms and portable potties, small basketball court, soccer fields, playgrounds, picnic tables...not much more you need to enjoy a day at the park!"
"Sometimes good things come in small packages.R Park is small, about four square blocks, but it packs a lot into its space. It has a pavilion, tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground and lots of green space. It's a perfect place for a picnic, a family get together, to toss the frisbee, play pickup basketball and / or soccer and then some.I like the walking trail that circles the area. Three laps is about a mile.Parking is available. Bathroom facilities are, too."
"I discovered this park in my search for a new hiking spot. We just moved to the area from St. Louis and I was in desperate need of a more "natural" trail. I'm glad I found this place! You'll first notice there's (what looks like) a nice sitting area with a bathroom, and that overlooks the fields leading up to the playground. I've always seen families on the playground, but I cannot personally attest to its cleanliness or stability. There was also a sporting event of some kind going on in the park's field this past weekend, so it's a family-friendly spot. The parking lot is pretty large. There are neat little secluded parking spots that have a nice view of the river--they would provide a cool picnic area. I always see couples, old and young, just hanging out under the trees, taking in the scenery. I also see lots of fishermen hoping for catfish. The actual trail doesn't have a name. This is the same trail that bow hunters take to get to the main hunting ground. I haven't come across a hunter on the trail yet, but I see them in the parking lot frequently. The trail itself is peaceful, pretty, and easy. No hills, no challenges, just a nice relaxing stroll. It's a great beginners trail and a good running trail. You'll find the trail head in between the yellow markers at the very back of the parking lot. Remember to wear bright colors during hunting season!"

Just favorite little local park. It offers a nice play area for kids, good fishing spots, a .75 mile track to run on, and workout stations on said running path. The family loves when the heron's are there. Great park for all ages.

Love how Brookside has so many parks and playgrounds! This park has to be particularly clutch for parents because it's seamlessly baked into the neighborhood and easily accessed by hundreds (thousands?) of homes. For us, it's a bike ride away, but again, Brookside for the win -- just hop on the Trolley Trail to 66th Terrace and then make your way east a few blocks for a safe ride. We hitched up the bike trailer and rode to nearby McClain's Bakery first for a great start to the day.We were bummed the junior pool is closed for the 2021 season. It would be such a great option to get out, and not quite sure why? The Loose Park splash pad appears to be open this year, but this feels neglected. The park itself is great; tennis courts, a little room for well-behaved dogs to fetch a few short throws, and a nice playground. The playground has big/little swings, slides, little rubber hills, and some climbing equipment. There are some miscellaneous tricycles and kids toys strewn about which is kinda nice, but some need replacement if I'm being honest. Oh one more important thing, at least in the morning: SHADE! I can't speak to summer afternoons, but seemingly every playground bakes around here. This one has a lot of trees so it's possibly a better option than others. This will be a fun part of our summer activity list for sure.

I took my two granddaughters to this park today and I've been here many times before. We are here in the morning and the smell of the local dump, which is not far away is overwhelming and detracts from the beauty of the park. There are times when there is no smell, but this morning it's awful. The positives about this park is that it has a great bike path and walking trail that loops around the river. It has lots of wildlife and good birdwatching and the trail is recently repaved. My granddaughters input for this park is that it doesn't have enough play equipment and that the smell is terrible and there was a lot of trains running over the bridge that distracted from the quietness.

One of the cutest playgrounds we've been to yet! The equipment is all accessible and so much fun. There is an outdoor musical area that is super cool, a "flying Fox", and an in-ground merry go round. Across the way in the park is also the T.B. Hanna Station splash pad, open after Memorial Day. The area is set up like a train station and is adorable for all ages. You'll also find restrooms, water fountains, and a covered picnic table area. It's a great spot for all ages and abilities!

I don't know how many times I've driven past dagg Park and failed to take my children here until now I should be ashamed. Riding a heart of North Kansas City and down the street from Macken Park is this cool park with wet entertainment that all children can enjoy doing the hot summer months and Kansas City. They also have dry entertainment like slides climbing apparatus and swings but the Highlight is the water portion of the park. It is a pet free and alcohol-free Park. It's very clean and well-kept it is a gym in North Kansas City!

Being a summer nanny, and it almost time to go back to school I feel like I'm grasping at straws to keep the kiddos entertained. This place is like a godsend, I tell you what. If you're like me and trying new things, especially ones that aren't completely mapped out, gives you anxiety, keep reading and you'll have no fear! Pulling in, you'll want to park in the show room entrance parking lot, and walk in the front door. When we went there wasn't anyone at the desk, but just hang out for a few and someone will be there quick. It costs $5 a kid (no adult fee, hallelujah and I paid cash (not sure if they take card). They ask you to sign in, and then walk down the hall and prepare for some fun! The big show room/playground wasn't air conditioned when we went, it was only 80 something in there, so it wasn't terrible. They had 12 massive playsets, and porch swing, trampoline, as basketball goals. The whole area has the chunks of tire pieces. I made the kids wear tennis shoes, and it was probably a good idea, I was in flip flops and the pieces kept getting into my shoes. We spent about two hours here, and could have spent longer, but had to get home to meet their parents. Come, you won't regret it!!!!

"What an incredible park! As a non stop visitor to any park in the city, I can't believe I hadn't checked out Antioch Park yet. The playground is VERY toddler friendly! Sporting many play areas, each one is suitable for young kids. Many shaded picnic tables line the park and they even have a clean bathroom. My kids love this place and I do, too!"
"Sunnyside offers the basics in a neighborhood park: satisfactory but unfenced playground over a natural surface, picnic pavilion, multiple base/softball fields, tennis and half basketball courts, and a paved walking trail around the perimeter. The broken asphalt has a short option that halves the 1-mile distance. This Kansas City Parks Department facility also has a water spray feature during summer months."
"Good place to let the children play and have a family day. The shelters are nice and the bathroom is clean."
"My toddler and I are on a fun mission to find the perfect park! Our criteria includes a safe neighborhood, plenty of benches, toddler swings, restrooms, and a sense of privacy to feed my son. This park hits almost all of our criteria! It has all of the above except for the toddler swings. Not an end-all for us because, honestly, my toddler mainly just collects rocks and sticks the whole time and has a blast doing so. This park feels very safe, which is the biggest pro! Definitely high on our list of parks."
"On the search to find our perfect park, we decided to try Meadowmere on a whim. An internet search showed a creative tree house/slide combo that was begging to be checked out, so we did!The tree house was quite impressive and even had a fun looking sloth hanging onto the trunk. There is a sign, as you walk into the park, that says "playground is suitable for ages 5 -12 years old." They are correct. My 2 year old and 8 month old had fun, but were not able to play on much of the equipment. To get to many of the slides, you had to climb a rock wall or a ropes course. This park has baby swings, though, so not all was lost! There is also a large shaded shelter, although a bit far away from the playground. Walking distance, but you can't sit on the benches and still see your kids. Speaking of shade, this playground didn't have much, at all. With only a high of 80 and arriving at 10 AM, we were still quite drenched in sun and wishing for shade.Meadowmere is a good park if your have older children and don't mind the heat."
"Cute little park with some different play options, like an oversized xylophone, plus tables and tons of shade trees. This place is begging us to return for a summer picnic. Located right behind the big CarMax in a quiet neighborhood."
"So, have you ever been driving down 35 or I70 near the West Bottoms and seen that cow sculpture just hanging out up in the sky? Well, it's here in Mulkey Square! And btw, I have dubbed it the Cow Tower, so if it has another name just keep it to yourself. Hidden away in the Westside, this is a nice little park just west of the corner of 13th and Summit, right around the corner from the FBI building. It's got a nice ball field that seems to be heavily used by local little-league. The playground is nice and in good condition. There's a shelter and a bathroom and all those things you'd want a park to have. But what makes this park REALLY great? Two things. Cow Tower and the view! This park has a just fantastic view of downtown Kansas City, and if I were a portrait photographer this would be on my heavy rotation. There is ample room to spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic while you admire Cow Tower and the skyline. For all of you urban parents who say there's no decent parks for your kids... found one!"
"This park was pretty quaint, but I have no complaints about that. Sometimes bigger places like Penguin Park are slightly overwhelming. There were two different play grounds, one geared towards smaller children and one for older kids. What looks like hard ground is actually a softer type of foam so that if someone falls they aren't hitting cement. The park was really clean and had several benches as well as tables. It wasn't overly crowded and it was a good mix of age groups when we went! I would definitely recommend this park! Only draw back is the parking lot is a little small and the drinking fountain wasn't working!!"
"I had the opportunity to visit this park for Liverpool concert. (Liverpool is a Beatles tribute band.) I can honestly say it was so much fun! I was not aware that Olathe park had events like this.. and for free. There is a lovely 14 mile trail along this park that is perfect for walking and bike riding. The trail is well shaded and the pavement fairly smooth."
"Love going there to sled safely! A great little space to get some sun with the family."
"This park is pretty new with 8 pickleball courts and lighting. Plenty of courts to choose from and there are tables scattered around the courts for when you want to take a break and socialize with other players. The courts are very new and very nice to play on. It does get very busy here when I came after work so I had to shift my schedule around. It's still busy in the morning but at least I can get on the courts. There's also a small shelter and a playground for the kiddos. There's not a real bathroom though - just a Porta Potty setup. Parking is also very limited and most people park across at the church or by Rudy's next door. If you like to play pickleball, this place is great. It's small and totally geared towards PB so if it's your thing, this place has it!"
"Great little neighborhood park along the Turkey Creek Streamway Trail in Merriam. The playground equipment is new and the kids love it. A covered area with picnic tables, trash cans, and a grill is nearby. They have a drinking fountain with a dig dish attachment for thirsty pups. There is large amount of grass area to run around on and a paved walking trail as well. There don't appear to be any restrooms on site, but perhaps they will add some in the future."
"Beautiful little park built originally as a separator between residential property and a grocery center. Happily, it seems to work. Nice place to take a walk, walk pets, bring the kids (there is a playground), or just sit on the many benches. In the summer, it could use a bit more shade, but the trees and other plants are growing."
"Amazing playground!!! Pristine grounds, and epic structures for big and small kids alike. My gangly, but young at heart, tween was very excited to find a place that didn't just cater to the littles. You gotta check this place out!"
"I have been to this park plenty of times and I'm surprised I've never checked into it. One of the reasons I come here is because they have a .5 mile Loop that goes around the park grounds and a man-made pond. This is also home of the Gladstone Amphitheater where they host different events throughout the spring and summer. This park is joined Oak Park Track. Very well kept and manicure Park"
"It was such a beautiful day to walk around Loose Park. 80 degrees, sun shining but wind blowing generously to keep you cool. After a few laps around, we couldn't help but stop to admire the water, and the ducks effortlessly floating by. There were lots of people out waking their dogs, flying kites with the kids, and simply just laying out on their blankets and hammocks, enjoying our break of the cold weather. I would definitely recommend catching one of these beautiful days at Loose. Stop to enjoy the beautiful trees, the calmness of the water, the different paths to walk through the park, and the fellowship of other people enjoying it as well."
"I was in the area and had some time to kill before I needed to be somewhere, so since it was a nice Spring morning, I thought I'd go for a walk. After a quick search I decided on Little Gully Park... except there wasn't a walking trail like I was expecting. In fact, it wasn't anything like what had been described in the review I read.Instead, I was standing and looking at a very small park, about three or four home plots, tucked away in a cute little Gladstone neighborhood. There wasn't a walking trail, or anything walkable for that matter, but there was a swing set, jungle gym and slide. All of the equipment and the space was well maintained, too. In fact, it was almost pristine. It's the perfect place to take your little human for a late morning pre-nap or an after dinner play session."
"This is a nice little hidden park it's quaint, well kept, & has beautiful foliage. Choose to walk the trails or use the track."
