"Fantastic place. I absolutely love their specials they run. You have to try each one every month. Highly recommend the lunches."
"Absolutely AMAZING dine-in experience! We enjoyed the burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket, and a half rack of ribs. The sides are also fantastic: potato salad, fries, Mac n cheese, and coleslaw. Definitely try all of the sauces, too! Thank you to our server Kendra for a great dinner and attentive service. We can't wait to come back!"
"Everything is so fresh and worth the trip. Make sure to stop by the Olive bar and pick out a few items. Everyone working is very friendly and efficient with service. It was a piece of Sicily in Kansas City."
"Amazing andouille brat...they grill out on Saturdays. PERFECT char. A must have in KC."
"This is a fabulous place to go if you're in the area. There are so many great places to eat, but I always stop by here and pick up some of their sausage to go. It is great to put in the smoker or grill."

Amazing hot dogs and worth coming by during their hours (typically 7a-2pm Wed-Saturday). They also made a soup of the day which was a Thai chicken soup and it was also fabulous. It's a local business and definitely worth a visit!

The ambiance is great and the service is good. This is definitely a great ambience for watching games. It's very clean, especially for a BBQ place. In comparison to some of the other BBQ heavy hitters in KC the food is definitely a little over priced for the amount, but such are the times we are in. What felt weird was the sides. If you don't want slaw, beans, or jalapeños then be prepared for up charges ranging $1-$4 on things like fries or Mac. Oh and don't ask for honey mustard for fries, they don't have it. My 2 meat combo came with only 3 pieces of burnt ends which was definitely a let down but at least the pulled pork was a good sized portion. I would definitely recommend the pulled pork over the burnt ends.

Sure, you might pay a little more. And yes, sometimes parking is not the easiest thing to do. But if you want gourmet Italian groceries, then this is the best game in town.I've stepped up my kitchen game as I've gotten older. I tend to appreciate nuances in better olive oil, imported tomatoes, and different flavorings to add to dishes like pasta or risotto. I can find genuine, imported goods at Carollo's at prices that I'm willing to meet. The deli selection is off the chart, whether you're getting cured meats, imported cheeses, or even a sandwich to go. I tend to buy a little bit more each time so that I can have pancetta on hand in the freezer or fresh Parmesan for whenever I'm going to be making pasta, which is frequently. The space can get a little crowded, but the staff is always friendly and moves through lines quickly. Selections at the olive bar are really worth the try and if you're feeling like you need something sweet, then cannoli shells are on hand just waiting for you to fill them at home. It's an authentic, old-style grocery with everything you would need for the fresh eats. I highly recommend taking some steps up the olive oil quality ladder, because you can really tell the difference it makes in various dishes, and even as a dressing. Sure, you can order online, but that defeats the point of taking a step into an authentic Italian grocery and enjoying a small slice of Kansas City.

Great food, great staff, old school deli counter that probably hasn't changed in 50 years.

Quick to get your order and quick to deliver the food. Ambiance - Ha! This is a meat market shop... you will spend your time admiring all the other sandwiches as well as some of the meat from the counter. You will never regret a visit here!Oh wait!!! They do close the sandwich counter in November as they get super busy smoking turkeys for everyone's holiday dinner... oh and you should order that too... it will be amazing!

As Northlanders, we love to support locally-owned restaurants in our community. We headed to Liberty to make our first visit to the Upper Cut. Upper Cut is a prime butcher shop, serving incredible sandwiches and sides. On our next visit, we got to buy some Akaushi prime beef for home. When we entered the restaurant, they have about six tables for those of us who want to savor the food right from the kitchen. Having checked out their website, this place serves huge, creative meat sandwiches. I narrowed the 10 sandwiches down to three (Royal Roast Beef, Big Chief BLT and The Kelce) and decided to go with the BLT. Although the prices range from $15.99 to $19.99, you are getting a huge sandwich. For many, it might be good for two meals. They have two sizes for the BLT, half a pound of bacon or a full pound. Since I love bacon, I went with the pound. The cashier said I might need to see a cardiologist after eating it. If I could make a suggestion, they should give you two sandwiches when you buy that much bacon. I never thought I could say this, but there was TOO MUCH bacon for one sandwich. But I will say this, the bacon is thick cut, smoky flavored and delish. The restaurant was pretty empty at 5:30pm on Tuesday, so I was surprised it took almost 25 minutes to prepare the sandwiches. I ordered fries with sandwich, but should have ordered their incredible Smoky Bacon Potato Salad. It has received rave reviews. I was surprised the restaurant doesn't cut your massive sandwich in half. The plastic knives and forks they provide aren't up to the challenge of the massive sandwiches. My wife ordered the Aka-strami (Pastrami) and loved it. Can't wait to return! Next time I'm getting The Kelce.

You go to specialty coffee houses for great brew, artisanal cheese shops for spreads and such, so why not hit a family-owned meat market for great sausage?Krizman's is right in the heart of KCK's Strawberry Hill and has been providing some of the best sausage known to the area. They specialize in sausage-making, and that's kind of the beauty: do something really well and just focus on what makes the business great. I first discovered their smoked kielbasa in a cooking class and just *had* to know where I could get more. Since then, I have been returning to KCK to pick up smoked sausage, kielbasa, and our favorite, andouille sausage. Krizman's andouille sausage is the highlight of my wife's red beans and rice dish.Prices are essentially market rate, but if you want the best, then you have to visit the best. Be bold and try more, because whether you grill or sauté, you will be eating the best sausages in the KC area each time you vis Krizman's.

The kind of neighborhood ethnic joint that's a dying breed. Thankful May's is very much alive. My wife (Polish heritage) is from Jersey and has been consistently disappointed with kielbasa in this neck of the woods. When we found Peter May's it was a hallelujah moment. Hey, and you can pick up good (Strawberry Hill) povitica here, too.

"This was my first visit to the new location. They moved a couple of miles south to the corner of 152 and 291 and have not only expanded the size of the place by adding a large seating area, but greatly expanded their menu to order freshly prepared food for carry-out and dine-in. It was a tough decision narrowing down from their 15 sandwich options. I chose the Bangin Brisket - Akaushi beef slow smoked for 16 hours, cubed, sauced and heaped high and overflowing a toasted bun. After one bite, I audibly dropped the f-bomb - in a positive way. Not just the best brisket, but maybe the best meat I've ever had. The premium meat is straight from the butcher case and straight from the farm- simply an amazing flavor that melted in my mouth after every slow bite and chew. The $20 sandwich may seem pricey, but it was worth every single cent. The "pork shots" were recommended as my side and I'm glad they were. Two pork meatballs wrapped in bacon and a bit of cream cheese then fried - decadently delicious also.I'm already planning on returning next weekend to purchase some Xmas gifts from the butcher case and sampling another sandwich from the fresh food counter."
"No trip to Strawberry Hill is ever complete without a) a stop for povitica, and b) a stop for Krizman's delicious sausage. My favorite is the standard but always popular Polska kielbasa.Old school -- always perfectly seasoned and ready to take home!"
"What a strange and secluded little joint Peter May's House of Kielbasa is! I have had it bookmarked on my Yelp page for a few years, but every time I'm near there, I usually end up at a taco shop and it doesn't help that Peter May's is closed on the weekends. Today, during a vacation week, I finally ventured in. The building is in the middle of houses on a residential street 2 blocks off of Truman Road. It is the epitome of what old school neighborhood markets once were. Since President Hoover's administration (1929) they have been pumping out traditional eastern European style meats; especially their name sake the kielbasa. After being given a small sample, I took home a large link of it that weighed slightly over a pound for less than $10. I have made a sandwich, snacked and there is still enough for 3 or more sandwiches - an economic windfall. The sausage is also perfectly smoked and deliciously savory. I have had no after -effect - heartburn like I often do with Polish sausages. You can buy meat to go or order a sandwich. The place could use some sprucing up; I don't think that they have renovated since the great depression, but I love that such a niche market can hang on in such a weird location for 90+ years - that speaks highly for their product."
"This authentic taqueria was so good that I didn't even get a picture of burrito. I walked in on a Friday evening and many people were there ordering their meals! I went with a chicken fajita burrito, which I had to wait about 15 mins for. The wait was short and so worth it! Hot, big, spicy, and seasoned so well! Next time I will be trying out their street tacos! My friend says they have the best tamales that she ever had there. This spot isn't big, so you can pass it easily."
