"Sushi UNI is one of the best sushi places in KC/Overland Park. Metro. Food is consistently delicious. Recently my father came with me and said it was the best hot and sour he ever had. Service is great, feels like all the servers will help you. It is considerably busy all the time. I aim for opening when I want sushi. Only downfall, which I didn't take a star,is the floors are always slippery if you walk to the bathroom. Be careful."
"We love this place for many reasons. First their happy hour is not limited to just weekdays but is also weekends. The food is delicious as are their drinks."

"Hadn't been in years. Only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. Waitress was extremely friendly & attentive. Had tempura shrimp & sake to start. I had two Yum Yum roll, which had no rice. Loved it. Hubby had yellowtail, crispy red snapper rolls. He loved his too. Nice to see how the plates were decorated. Glad to see this place has not changed."
"Sushi was solid overall. It was also my friend's birthday so our server was able to give her a complimentary birthday dessert."
"After an exhaustive search we found it, the Sushi spot. Great food, big selection, nice ambiance and fantastic service! Look no further than Mint/Mr Sushi, you will like it!!"
"Decided to check out Kyoto's for lunch. It was my first time dining there, but I happened to be with my sister, who happens to find there frequently as she loves their sushi. We decided to sit at a regular booth vs. the hibachi table since we were alone. If you have a bigger group of people, I'd suggest checking out a Hibachi table to really get a feel for the ambiance.Service was immediate, which I loved. We were seated right away, and the waitress came by not even a minute after we got comfortable. One thing I liked was that you had the option of ordering hibachi style meals despite being at a regular table. With the hibachi style menu, you start with a soup and salad. The soup was delicious and flavorful. However, the salad could have been prepared better for presentation purposes. The picture speaks for itself. My teriyaki chicken & shrimp came soon after and was just the way I like it, saucy !! I feel the vegetables could have been seasoned better, very bland. The fried rice was ok, and the crab Rangoon was of good quality.I will definitely try it again as I want to experience the hibachi cooking from the table, which might help in getting my vegetables seasoned to my liking. Overall, this first try wasn't too bad."
"I will be the first to admit that I am not the best when it comes to Sushi. I have specific things I like and some common flavours that I just don't. Mango for one. And it is in so many sushi options! Urg! But, here we go...This place is fun. The interior is nicely appointed and not crowded. The location has a separate room for large parties that doubles for secondary dining. The bar runs along one side and entertains guest by rolling in front of them and there are TVs usually with the game on if that is what you desire. The booths are high-backed and give decent privacy so you are eating with your group and not the entire restaurant. My standard here is to get one regular sushi roll (Dinosaur) and one fried roll (Godzilla). Though I have had many others and find them all delicious for what they are. I can also recommend the Hibachi here but this place is Sushi-forward and suggest you go with the roll first if you can. And if you get the big group of sharers together all the better... because then you can get rolls and hibachi! Also getting a large amount of rolls they present it on a wooden ship which is kind of a fantastic experience.Very good job on all the extras too! The apps are extremely good and the soups are amazingly delicious!I'll be here so if you see me say hi!"
"This is some solid sushi!!!! One of the best I've had in Kansas City. Rolls are made THICK and they have so many unique rolls that are worth trying. I've tried several and haven't had a bad one yet. Rolls worth mentioning : BMW, Friends Roll, Kansas Roll"
"My sister and I came here for a girls night out. She kept saying she wanted sushi so we decided to set a reservation and go here. I only like Tempura sushi. I'm not into Sashimi. We walked in and it's a pretty small place. You wouldn't get that from the website. They have two private rooms up front and then in the middle is the rest of the seating. We were seated immediately thanks to the reservation. It was packed in there so I'm glad we did that. For drinks, we both ordered Arnold Palmers. Wasn't in a drinking mood but they had a wide selection of alcohol including Saki. For appetizers, we ordered the Tempura Calamari and the Garlic Shrimp. Both were delicious! I've had Calamari fries before but never Tempura. So good. The sauce for the shrimp was very good. For meals, I ordered the Crazy Lobster Roll and the Rainbow Roll. My sister had the 5041 Roll and the Spicy Tempura Roll. . All the rolls were delicious I'm going to assume. I didn't try the 5041 Roll because it was Sashimi. The place is loud but you'd expect that because it's small. The vibe was awesome. So glad we went. If you like sushi and want a nice vibe, check them out."
"EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! I'm so happy my sister talked me into driving up north to partake in this delicious food. It was spacious, but intimate inside & the staff was amazing & attentive. I'll be back."
"Such an adorable spot! Tiny but very cute. I notice they keep the door locked during business hours. I think it is due to shortage staffs and to prevent certain people from coming in because of the area it is in. There is only 1 server, and she is super nice. We ordered a few dishes to try. All came out really quick. My favorite is the spicy ramen. Full of flavors and perfect cooked ramen. Yaki udon was kinda bland to my taste. Note: They do not have water. You must bring in your own or buy one for $1."
"I mean this in however you want to perceive this: Hibachi is basically going to Disney for dinner. And Toro does a great job in keeping you entertained and full. From wisecracking jokes to lots of fire, the meal is entertaining. The service is really good and attentive. Our group had a few apps. I ordered the steak and chicken. One in our group had a shellfish allergy and they accommodated her. What I don't love is getting tossed food that is sauced. I managed to not get too messy but out of 10 people at our table, only 1 was cued well enough to catch the shrimp (our shellfish allergy had to literally duck out of the way as it flew in her face ).Anyways, the food is really good and you'll have a good time."

First visit to Sushi Uni. Small, and once it filled up, it was pretty congested. I ordered the Sashimi Appetizer Plate for starters while my daughter had the Veg. Tempura and Udon. I added one order each of Sake, Tako and Uni Sashimi. The Appetizer Plate had enough food for 2 to enjoy. It had 3 slices of Tuna, Salmon and Octopus each. The sashimi were very fresh, well cut and pretty thick. The Salmon was especially good! The tempura was awesome! Warm, crispy and clean smelling. We had two young ladies taking care of us. As one moved on, the other was there. All in all, it was super satisfying. The food was certainly very good and so was the service. Sushi Uni could very well be my go-to the next time I'm in KC.

I came on a super cold day and got the pork belly bao buns and Boru ramen. The bao buns had a lot of flavor and were perfectly cooked and the sauce on it was a great addition. The ramen was soothing snd easy to sip on a cold winter day. Staff were able to accommodate a no reservation and were quick to get my order in!

Was greeted promptly and walked into a well kept, attractive, modern asian restaurant! Waitress promptly greeted me and took my order. I ordered two rolls, gyoza and a bowl of white rice. All were brought promptly! Presentation, freshness and taste were on point! I do not have anything bad to say. This was a great experience and I will be back!

Mint Sushi has considerable competition in the area in the way of sushi-hibachi style restaurants - for Sushi and Sushi Rolls and Sashimi I would choose Mint Sushi.Super White Tuna Sashimi was cold and tasty! Super White Tuna Sushi excellent!I decided on some deep fried Rice Rolls that I enjoyed very much. A California Roll and a Crab Roll.Service and Food Presentation were Good. The Ambiance is simple and unassuming. I see your carry out business is good as well!Thank You Mint Sushi!

We were excited for this, but it ended up becoming a Marriott hotel's-level experience. At best, this is high quality hotel sushi. The problem is, whoever is preparing the sushi rice is utilizing a poor recipe. The craftsmanship is well done, but the sugar/vinegar brine is indistinguishable, leaving a very bland flavor across the board. Almost as if you were having lunch with your Grammie at the local sunrise living community. Further, I tried a spicy teriyaki udon steak bowl, and it wasn't even interesting teriyaki flavor. For $15 I got a similar experience of the two for one hungry man udon bowl at your local Walmart. I could have saved 10 bucks! It just chaps my rear if I'm being honest; the providing of ample dollars for the exchange of subpar consumables. The teriyaki had neither Tang or spice, a whole lot of sweetness, with pretty good udon noodles. All of this topped off with really tough beef of some cut or another. Pretty standard room service style Asian fare, and not something I would ever revisit. It looks the part, but tastes like an understudy...

FPO and I found our neighborhood bar and surprisingly enough, it's a Kansas sushi restaurant. We've been there a couple of times. The last time we sat at the bar and watched. Just wanted a drink, something light to eat, and to unwind after a long day. Lol, everyone who walked in the door was treated like a long lost friend. The crowd looked like an equal mix of dine in and take away. Because we sat at the bar, we had the best seats in the house. Suzie (the bartender) is the best! She's attentive, knowledgeable about the menu items, and funny! We had a couple of drinks, a couple of plates of pretty good sushi, and a good time.

The food here is delicious always hot, made fresh. The waitress was great always kind and on top of refilling our drinks, taking away our dishes when we were done. The atmosphere was nice it was a bit loud but we have been here before and it was calm quite and peaceful, so if it is a bit full in the restaurant it can get a bit loud from the others chatting, however it didn't seem to bother anyone;)

"This isn't a place I go often, but it's a neat concept and one of the nicer places in the area. The food is good, and the service is always good. It's a great place for a date night and a unique foodie experience! Will be back!"
"I found this place 2 years ago as a quick lunch with a friend who is pescatarian . We definitely found a gem because we've been coming here ever since. Their lunch specials are pretty reasonable and you get a lot of food. Brought my daughter for dinner tonight and she loved it. We recommend the caterpillar roll and the spider roll."
"Delicious! Fresh! We keep coming back! We've gotten great service and the food and sake is excellent! Wonderful staff!"
"Let me tell you about my new favorite spot for hibachi! We walked in and were greeted with a nice server who sat us in one of their booths. The restaurant is small but the decor and ambience are very inviting. I saw the menu and was debating between the sushi options and the hibachi but I had to have the hibachi! It comes with soup, salad, veggies, rice, and your choice of meats. The salad and soup were good but my favorite starter was the gyoza! It was perfectly crispy on one side and the filling was actually packed with flavor! After tasting the gyoza I had high hopes for the hibachi and they did not disappoint. The veggies, rice, and meat were all seasoned perfectly and cooked very well! Before I knew it I had finished my plate. If you're looking for a good dinner, I would highly recommend stopping in here."
"Introducing one of my favorite places to get sushi in the greater Kansas City area: Sakura Sushi Train! Sakura has a sushi train that loops around the bar and is holding mini plates with sushi and appetizers. Having a hard time picking which sushi roll sounds the best? At Sakura, you can pick and choose which plates you want to enjoy. I also snag some dumplings, a ginger salad, and crab rangoons to start my meal off with. I usually grab 4-6 mini plates with 2-3 sushi pieces on them. There are three colored plates with different prices depending on what is being served on the plate. This spot may not look like much from the front, but you will leave fully and happy! If you are looking for a unique dining experience in the greater Kansas City area, Sakura is the place to visit!"
"Arrived here early at 5pm for dinner. Parking in a lot. We didn't have to wait too long. Got seated at a Hibachi table where the Chef cook your food in front of you. You can tell they try to provide good service. Food was good. Pricing seem a little high. Ambiance usual."
"Decent for Olathe area!Ordered online, was told to come in 25-30 minutes later. Came in 30 minutes later and still had to wait another 5 minutes for my meal.Love, love the decor. Very kawaii with so much lucky cat art--and I'm a huge cat lover, so I loved the ambiance.I ordered the three roll lunch: salmon roll, tuna roll, spicy salmon roll--also salmon roe nigiri and a yellow tail and scallion hand roll. The salmon roe came as sashimi instead, on a cucumber slice. The roe was also... old. There were several eggs that were completely hardened, and should not have been used. If you looked, it was obvious that the middle portion of the roe was shadowed and hardened. I didn't think that the spicy salmon would have crunchies in it, ive not seen that before, but I should have asked. I do have a gluten sensitivity so I was on the toilet soon after my meal, sadly. Would definitely try the place again, there's not a lot of sushi places in this area. I'll be sure to ask about gluten in their food next time....."
"This is a very good place with a full selection of entrees, sides and even multiple very good desserts. What a selection of seafood. Very well prepared with all of the spices I've come to expect at a buffet. Not being a glutton, I surely only tried about 10-20% of the lunch/dinner items and all of it was good or very good. Because the displays were ample and generous, I had only one plate for lunch and another for dessert; I was also pleased with the checkout process that left me with a perfunctory fortune cookie containing a pleasant fortune.Whereas some buffets put out plenty of cooked seafood, not all are as thoroughly well seasoned and prepared. Food: 4 stars. The service was prompt and excellent from hello to goodbye. It's mainly an upbeat family atmosphere, not particularly intimate or romantic. Pleasant and studiously kept clean by an attentive but unobtrusive staff.Service: 5 stars! Ambiance: 3.5 stars.I will return here soon. It's my new favorite Chinese food spot in the N.E. K.C. area!"
"I have only eaten here once - but from what I remember, I liked it. Traveling to Ft Leavenworth quarterly, you find yourself often driving to KCMO for dinner. There just is not a lot going on (dinner wise) in Lansing-Leavenworth. Fortunately, I found this little sushi spot. It is a pretty common "westernized" sushi place. But that's ok, because I'm a western fella. The service was fine; no issues there and nothing to report (negative or positive). The ambiance was decent. Again, a very typical westernized weapon of a Japanese sushi place with very heavy Korean influences, and I think I even saw some Thai options? The menu looks like the establishment-just everything Asian lol. But again, I don't mind. As long as it's all clean and sanitized and it was. I enjoyed the food. I always like a good old Philly Role, Spicy Tuna and all that. Add cheese wonton on the side? I'm sold. For a landlocked location like Lansing Kansas, I felt like the sashimi was as surprisingly fresh. I mean, it wasn't sitting on the rocks in Osaka kinda fresh... but it was surprisingly fresh and good for being in Kansas. Good for them! That's a whole star right there! I have to travel to the Army Post here frequently, and I think I'll be back next time I go. It's decent sushi, and 1 mile from the hotel, as opposed to 30 minutes to anything in KCMO."
"Just visited for a date night had a good time! We went on a Friday and we were seated around the bar within 5 minutes, so hardly a wait! This time around we just opted for the sushi train (you can order off menu, too!) knowing we could get a few apps and some sushi. We ended up seated near one of the chef stations/plating, so we could watch what was being made! This spot did end up being good for seeing what was coming and making selections. We honestly just grabbed a variety and would split most plates. I loved some of the tempura rolls and one with a shredded crab inside and my husband loved the tempura crab stick nigiri. There was a good balance of rolls and nigiri tonight! A little pricier than ordering traditional rolls, but so fun to try bites of several different types! Our only "complaint" was that all the non-roll foods (e.g. crab Rangoons, gyoza) were placed on the train almost directly opposite of us. This meant we almost never even got a chance to grab Rangoons and never got some gyoza. We'd also love to see a menu for the purpose of knowing what the rolls are, mostly to identify our favorites for future visits!"
"Was craving hibachi. Went in early on a Friday night. It was just my husband and I. They had no problem seating us, even though it was just the two of us. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Hibachi chef was great too. We really enjoyed our meal. The steak was very tender, and cooked to our desired temp. Shrimp and chicken were great as well. I love their ginger dressing salad, and the sauce they serve with the hibachi. Portions seemed massive. This place used to be a favorite of mine back in the day. After moving back to the area last year, I was excited to get sushi from here. It wasn't that great, and even had an off taste. Not sure I would give the sushi another try, but I will definitely be back for the hibachi."
"Wanted some sushi and Japanese food Saturday evening, we haven't ever been to a place that doesn't cook it in hibachi style. The restaurant was clean, very small and quiet. The gods was extremely good and the served warm. I relaxed liked the salad dressing it had a ginger flavor. We'll definitely be back."
"This place is so good! The portion sizes are well worth the price and the service was great! It can be hard finding a good sushi restaurant but if you have the time drop on by here and you won't regret it!"
"A party of seven. We were promptly seated and beverages served within a few minutes. There was PLENTY of help at the tables and bar. Empty bowls were removed quickly. The young ladies were attentive refilling water and sodas. The salad is simply head lettuce but let me tell you, the delicious salad dressing MAKES IT! The miso soup was hot and mighty tasty. We all ordered hibachi. One mahi mahi, two chicken, two chicken & shrimp and two shrimp. Our chef was enthusiastic and entertaining. The experience was a lot of fun for all of us. And the food could NOT have been better. Portions are MASSIVE and all left with to go boxes with another serving or TWO!!We look forward to returning again soon."
"I absolutely love it here! The food is amazing, food is always fresh and delicious, if you like, or love Japanese food, you can't go wrong here! The servers are very polite very pleasant always willing to go over and beyond to make their customers happy. I love the atmosphere whether I am indoors or outdoors. They always have music playing. It's not overwhelming. It's very calming and soothing."
"I have been to Sushi Garden more than a handful of times. I am never unimpressed. I like to get the Delicate Roll and the Mongolian Beef Roll which is not something that you find too often. Located in a small strip mall with about 8 tables/booths and a small bar.I will define return whenI am in the Leavenworth/Lansing area."
"Always fast and tasty takeout! We went for appetizers tonight ... tried egg rolls, chicken satay, steamed dumplings and crunchy tuna rolls"
"My son loves this place! The staff is super friendly and fun. And the food? Is good! We can't get enough of that yellow sauce--I think it's called Yum Yum sauce, but don't quote me on that! Like everything else these days it is a bit pricey."
"This is a fun place to have dinner. With the hibachi flat top chef entertaining everyone, it's easy to get distracted and not notice how good the food is. Don't be shy if you're dining as a couple, because they sit you with others to give that shared community feeling. Everything from the flipping shrimp into guests mouths, to banging the drum for people having birthday celebrations make for an entertaining night. Can't wait to come back!"
"This place is a hidden gem. The customer service was great and food was delicious. It reminds me of a diner converted to a sushi spot. We were very pleased and surprised at how good it was."
"Solid choice for sushi delivery. Like the Lion King roll, loved the KC Steak roll and Ocean Dragon roll. Also had nigiri (Ikura, eel, scallop) which was all good, especially the scallop. I asked for no plastic utensils or soy sauce and they listened. :)"
"Sushi in Kansas. Yes, I tempted fate and survived. After hearing rave reviews from a couple coworker, I decided to check it out and order some takeout. Now, when you order online it says it will take 30-40 mins to prepare your order. So I waited about 30 minutes ran an errand and stopped by to wait yet another 20-30 minutes in the resultant for my order. Now the staff was friendly but waiting over an hour for two rolls was not what I had expected my evening to consist of. Finally getting home the sushi itself was alright, as one of the few sushi places in Emporia I may try it again but honestly was unimpressed. The staff was helpful and did include the extra sauces I asked for which I really appreciated."
"FPO and I had been hearing rumors of a second Aoyama Ramen in Shawnee for some time, but all we knew was that it was opening early 2024. It was pure dumb luck we heard January 15th too. The first Friday evening after we decided to drive by. And we saw the blue and red neon open sign in the window!Aoyama Ramen is located in the same shopping center as Johnny's Tavern, Savers, and Fat Bee's. From the outside their sign is small so you have to be in the general area to see them. I heard there used to be a fried fish place in their location (if that helps anyone). Inside it's got the same Godzilla mural as the original. They've also got a large KC Chiefs arrowhead on another wall and nicely framed pictures of some of their menu items being made. FPO and I had a debate going about which location was larger. We think the original is probably bigger, but this new space seems larger because it's a lot brighter. When we walked in there were only two employees in the front of the house and every table was taken. There were a few seats at the ramen bar available. It was a little after 5:30. Things seemed to be going pretty smoothly. The manager was super nice. I'm still on crutches and he noticed us waiting to be seated. He went up to a couple of guys who'd just sat at a table and asked them if they would mind relocating to the bar so we could have the (lower) table. The menus showed a couple of items we hadn't seen at the original Aoyama Ramen including Tempura Brussel Sprouts, which I had to try along with my usual Tonkatsu Classic Ramen. FPO stuck with the Tako Yaki appetizer and Beef Sukiyaki Don. I would have been happy if the food was as good as the original location. I liked it better here. The Tonkatsu seemed to have more depth to it, like it was charred (maybe) before being added to the ramen. Whatever the case, it was good. With snow on the ground and temps hovering around 5 degrees, it was a prefect night for Aoyama Ramen."
