"**Obsessed with Betty Rae's!** This spot is the *cutest*, and their ice cream is legit amazing! So many unique, mouth-watering flavors to choose from, and the portions are totally worth the price. Plus, the staff is always super friendly and happy to hook you up with a sample (or two ). If you're craving something sweet, you *have* to check out Betty Rae's--it's an ice cream lover's dream!"
"My favorite parts of a charcuterie board, all mixed together and turned into ice cream!Goat cheese, apricot, and walnuts. Salty, fruity, sweet, nutty, slightly bitter. Who wouldn't want a blend of flavor profiles with every bite?Betty Rae's offers classic flavors as well as more unique flavors like the one I listed above. They also do ice cream flights, coffee, and affogato! Service was fast, and they don't skimp on the scoops!"
"Great service, delicious food, and nice area for wine tasting + cheese board eating. We brought our dog, so we enjoyed eating outside on a crisp autumn day. The cheese tasted great--would love to eventually try a scoop of ice cream! Wish it was a little more affordable. Pretty small portions for an expensive price. Nice to see a farm to table location though and great stop for a little weekend getaway!"
"You have to check out their new taiyaki cones! They are SO good. I love coming to Fairway Creamery for their unique flavors of coffee and donuts.I also tried their special over the weekend. The collabed up with Mr Ds donuts. They added poki sticks and donuts to top the cone. I also got the sprinkle cone which was amazing! When arriving, parking is super easy and the entrance is easy to find. There is plenty of seating inside and on the outdoor patio. The patio is very dog friendly. You also have to try their coffee ice cream! It's soooooo good! A great local spot for ice cream!"
"A vast array of ice cream flavors, not sure what you want? They will give you samples to try and help you decide. They also serve sandwiches and coffee. They have a party room for your birthday parties. I especially love their banana split! You're always greeted with a smiling, cheerful associate. The place is bright and cheery and usually very clean unless they had a huge rush and people just left the table. Oh and they have amazing baked goods as well. I love their crinkle lemon cookies! Great place for a snack or treat after dinner. And they stay open late!"
"Such a fun concept- nitrogen ice cream, smoothies, coffees, and teas- oh my! My friend and I each had a drink and a scoop of ice cream. The kid size serving of ice cream is very filling and larger than most kid sizes at other places. She loved her sweet maple bacon ice cream and her Thai iced tea, which she added tapioca pearls to. My Vietnamese iced coffee was only OK, it was a bit too bitter to my liking, but my coconut ice cream was absolutely wonderful - very fresh and creamy with bits of real coconut in it. This is a really fun spot -perfect for meeting friends and having an afternoon treat. I will definitely go back."
"What an amazing little spot! They have such a great little store with so much ice cream! Let's start with the fact that they have a lot of different flavours of that ice cream. I had to forgo it because of issues with Lactose. However, this location does have a lactose-free option, usually more than one. Sadly, that option this time was Mango ice cream, and I am silly and don't like Mango as a flavour. And now for the cookies! I waited too long to go which meant they were out of my absolute favourite! They typically have a chocolate chip peanut butter cookie. The best of all worlds! Yes... even better than the peanut butter chip chocolate cookie. So here is the list of what I tried this trip...Chocolate Chip - How else would you judge cookie making?!?!Pumpkin Spice - I live in Johnson County... that xplanes it!Snickerdoodle - OMG... this is the right cookie for hot chocolate! All joking aside, these cookies are premier and some of the best cookies I have ever had! (Sorry Grandma). My review is if you ever need that sweet snack that is the pinnacle of baked goods in America... stop here and snag a cookie, some ice cream, maybe one of their sodas! For the Restaurant:Crazy idea... the quick microwave where you heat up people's cookies in for them. Because who doesn't like a warm cookie? Also, sorry about putting the tip in the dog biscuit jar on the counter! Oooops!"
"THE BIGGEST PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICH IN TOWN!!! Great service. Large menu and some picnic tables outside to chow down with the bros Thank you Tasty'sWEEK 2"
"So... finding this place was unexpected. I was scrolling through my socials the other day and saw a post for a local shop specializing in crepes and ice cream... I made a mental note, and kept on scrolling. Then it showed up again... and again... so I surfed over to their site and saw pictures of DECADENT desserts along with a smattering of savory choices. Honestly, knowing the neighborhood and strip mall where this was located, I wondered if the photos could be accurate. But, there was enough interest that my wife and I went tonight to check it out. The shop is small; only 5 tables and about 12 chairs. There were only two employees working, and both were super friendly, helping us make our selections. We ordered the Gyro Crepe, the Pollo Loco, medium elote, red velvet crepe, and double scoop of ice cream. I expected a rich meal, but what I was not prepared for was the size of the portions. They were HUGE! We brought home more than half of every item! The food arrived slowly, as each item was being made in succession, one at a time. (Like I said, it's a small shop!) The gyro crepe was fine, but not outstanding. The Pollo Loco was very good. The red velvet was rich... very rich! The crepes were thin and light, the fruits were fresh, and the chocolate sauces were thick and DELICIOUS. My wife enjoyed the ice cream a lot, but for me, the star of the evening was the ELOTES! Served off the cob, it was like a parfait of corn, crema, and queso fresco. Topped with cayenne, it was an excellent and creative take on classic elotes. The proportions were spot on. I chatted with the workers again on our way out and asked them if business was going well. They told us they'd only been open about 6 months and said things were good, though recent traffic was much slower than it had been in the summer. If you read many of my reviews, you'll know how much I love it when a small business succeeds, especially in my local community. Here's hoping La Fresca KC has a long and prosperous future!"
"I only found out about this location because of my spanish speaking friends. This restaurant is a dime in a dozen! They have authentic Mexican/Latin-American deserts that I honestly don't even though the names of. Some of the more familiar ones include churros, different types of ice cream, and the infamous fruit cocktail desserts. I decided to branch out and be brave, and got the mangonadas especial. Which was essentially a mango ice cream dessert, smothered in actual mango slices and a spicy chile powder that balanced the sweetness nicely. I can't wait to try this location are more because they have so many great dessert options! Everything is made fresh in front of you and the staff is very friendly."
"Our family has completely fallen for Twisters during the second half of 2021! I would guess we've been here close to a dozen times since summer. Having tried all the other FroCus joints in town, I can tell you the two things that REALLY set Twisters apart from the others: the JAM-PACKED "Twisters" (similar to a DQ Blizzard), and the customer service.Just how jam-packed are they? No matter which ingredients I order, no matter what size I order, EVERY. SINGLE. BITE. has a glob (scientific foodie word) of goodies in it. Brownie batter. Heath Bar. Cookie Dough. Birthday Cake. Pecan Pie (yup - PECAN PIE!!). I venture to guess that, by weight, 90% of each Twister is non-custard ingredients. The custard is just there to smooth it all out on the way down. And the service: every time we're there, we're greeted by a smiling, helpful, super-energetic and well-trained employee who processes everything quickly, well, and with a smile. Not once has one of our orders been goofed up, and I credit that to solid training - well done, Twisters!I highly recommend the vanilla custard with Reese's PB Cups and cookie dough, unless the Pecan Pie is available, in which case you DEFINITELY go with the pie...and some caramel syrup!"
"This last weekend, I opened my storefront here in Leavenworth and had Sis Sweets cater in large cookie sheets for people who were stopping by and wanted to talk and visit. I could not be happier with the quality of product delivered, the wide selection options that Sis Sweets provided, and the taste of the product. Almost everyone knew -exactly- where I had picked the cookies up from and respected the good taste I put into finding a local Leavenworth product I knew would go over well. What really works? These cookies have the right amount of sweet without being so over the top that the sugar overpowers the taste of the product itself. That is a challenge of a lot of store-bought cookies, where they certainly are full of sugar, but not necessarily full of actual taste. Want to try out something special? Go here, have a cookie or two.. your stomach may love you.WARNING: If you are on a diet, let's say Keto, this may convince you that your pure joy and life experience may be worth more than the pounds you might lose. Just saying."

A group of us had finished dinner at a restaurant located on the same street as "Betty Rae's Ice Cream". A member of our group suggested getting ice cream. As a first-time customer, I'll comment that the counter service was very good. The individual who helped us was personable and was able to answer a lot of questions. As to the ice cream, in addition to interpretations of the standards, the store had a lot of unique flavor combinations I've never seen before. The ice cream itself had very good texture. The tastes were good without being excessive. After making our purchase, there was a nice outdoor patio to eat our ice cream and converse.I can see why locals would repeat visits.

I love Betty Rae's!!!! While there's usually a line out the door, that doesn't mean that the service isn't speedy and efficient. I'm able to get several samples which is my favorite part to try some more of their unique flavors (you have to at least sample the goat cheese, apricot & candied walnut flavor). They also have homemade waffle cones and many great flavors, whether a staple or a rotating flavor. We have eaten both inside and outside here and both were great. I also love their photo booth if you happen to be in the mood for that.

Great place. Super busy even at around 1:45, but we enjoyed the time outside on a picnic table. Sandwiches were good, nice touch of crackers and cheese on the side. Ice cream for dessert from High Hopes. So good we forgot to take pics of that!

Today was the day for the dipped soft-serve cone. I've been looking forward to vanilla dipped in butterscotch, a classic! Alas, no butterscotch today. Rats. So I opted for a vanilla/mocha twist dipped in chocolate. The chocolate coating was great, as I expected. The ice cream was maybe too delicately flavored. Both flavors were sort of bland and almost indistinguishable from each other. It was also not super smooth and creamy, but a bit grainy. I was not expecting that at all. Overall, it's still ice cream and the chocolate saved the cone so I'm calling it good, but I'll stick to the excellent hard-pack ice cream from here on out. Except for Everything Bagel. I'll be skipping that one. ;) Let me know if you try it!

Fantastic locally owned home made ice cream store that does a great job of hiring local high school students as employees. The service is fast and friendly. They also have some really good baked goods such as brownies and cookies.

It's Mission restaurant week, so I wanted to do my part in supporting some of my favorites! This little shop is the cutest. Fun games inside for all ages, including a kid's bumper car, my 2 year old went nuts over. Each time I've visited we've always been greeted by the nicest staff. Going the extra mile to add smiles along with sprinkles. It's sometimes the small things that can really make a difference. The Mango Boba was delicious. After sampling bobas all over KC, I'm beginning to feel like a proficient boba queen. The ice cream process they use is an extra delight to watch, especially for the kids, and the taste carries forward accordingly. Prices are reasonable for product. Love our small town in the big city.

Excellent cookie shop in the KC suburbs. I swung by with colleagues this evening after dinner at Sushi House next door. We each selected one cookie and shared - my favorite were the lemon and semisweet chocolate chip, so I bought half a dozen to take home! Will be back!!

Heard about Christy's pork tenderloin sandwich so we had to give it a try.Neat little place out in an area by itself. It is walk in only, however there are some picnic tables around back, so everything is to go.We ordered a couple of tenderloin sandwiches. Staff was very friendly. They come with lettuce, onion and mayo. It didn't take very long, and our sandwiches were ready. We planned to sit at a picnic table and enjoy. However, being really freshly made the sandwiches were almost to hot (temperature wise) to eat. So, we put them back in the bag and headed home. When we got home we dug in. The tenderloin is very large. However, it was also a good thickness. The type of bun was a perfect match. The sandwich was one of the best I ever had. It was a very big sandwich. The tenderloin did seem a little oily, however that did not stop my giving it a 5-star rating. They also have a pretty good menu of lot of other items and ice cream shakes. Will have to try one next time and there definitely will be a next time.

"My wife told me about Paleta Bar and it was a great place to visit to finish off our night. We went about an hour before close and they were still very busy which gave me some hope that this place would be worth the hype... they are! We tried bars that were with fruit and some without. I created an odd mixture of a coconut bar dipped in dark chocolate, topped with oreo on one half, and tajin on the other half. If the worker who made it reads this review, it was one of those odd mixtures that just works in my opinion. It was sweet and a bit savory, and then you get the creamy from the bar itself. I was surprised to see such a great variety of flavors as well! My wife got a banana bar dipped in milk chocolate, and topped with peanuts. The mixture was just right, it tasted how the Reese's banana slices should taste! If you were on the fence with Paleta Bar, it is definitely worth it!!"
"It blows my mind that people give an ice cream place a bad review. It's ice cream. It's a treat. Did you get it? Was it delicious? Then, give the place a great review. If you didn't have the best experience, ask yourself, was the place swamped? Did they appear to be short-staffed? Did it look like one employee was doing all the work because everyone else was still training? Then, please give them a little grace.I'm sorry that your Jackhammer took too long to come out and that your SO's ice cream melted while they waited for yours. But, if that's the worst part of your day, then count your blessings.BTW, the Andy's on 95th and Metcalf is the best in Overland Park. AND PLEASE BRING BACK THE BISCOFF COOKIE BUTTER CRUNCH."
"There's nothing FROZEN about this custard. This is now the second time that I've needed a straw to eat my sundae or concrete. Get it right guys- you may not be around for long with SOUP like this. Absolute waste of my $. Dare I say it?? Andy's custard is about 10 mins from this location- go there instead."
"The kid was STARVING. 'Mommmmm I need fooooood!!!' She'd been here with friends before so I took her here again to quit her complaining. Parents of teenagers I know you can relate. I had a bite of her KC Jazz Burger, it has a slightly sweet BBQ sauce on it, and it was super delish, cooked perfectly. The fries were coated in crispiness and just the right amount of salt. I will def come back sometime with her to enjoy this place again. Wish they used more responsible packaging than styrofoam for to-go orders, but that's my only complaint. The young woman working the drive-through window could not have been sweeter."
"Before Andy's came in down the street this was the hang out. It was by far the most exciting place to go for a cold treat. This is still a great place but since they don't have as much business as they did, the custard doesn't seem to be as consistently fresh as it was. After it sits in their machines awhile you notice it gets ice chunks and seems more grainy. When you get their custard fresh straight out of the machine it is by far the best. Noone can match the amazing smooth texture and rich flavor.I do miss being a regular customer here, and if they could get more consistent with the quality I would make this our regular hangout spot once again."
"Ordered a pink flamingo dragon fruit bowl ahead on the app for pick up since I had a doctors appointment. Great healthy and fast lunch option. Quality ingredients used. More than enough for one person"
"I've been on a "find all the best street tacos in KC" kick and this was unexpectedly the best of the best. The carne asada and pastor street tacos were both moist and full of flavor, served generously on a double fresh corn tortilla. I spent my entire meal talking about how great everything was and how excited I am that one of the best tacos in KC is so close to my house. Already planning my next visit. This was so far off my radar that I didn't even think of taking a picture before digging in, so you'll see one of my tacos was already missing! I ordered one each of the carne asada and pastor street tacos and one chicken gordita. This way my first gordita ever and most definitely won't be my last. We also ordered the chips and salsa, which came with a flavorful (but a little too thin) red, mild salsa and one medium green salsa."
"Ordered the lime Special, fruit, and churros all were exceptional quality. I am pleasantly surprised my go to used to be Tropicana but their quality control has become an issue. Frutopia hit the mark. Careful packaging. Great taste. And great service, couldn't ask for more."
"Pay attention class! Todays anatomy discussion will involve the Gluteus Maximus, or what is commonly referred to as da booty! Now, most booties are made of flesh and bone, and covered by skin. But today we will discuss. the booty of a pirate. Now, a pirates booty is radically different. You see a pirates booty is made of sugar, heavy cream, sweet potato, and lots of lemon flavoring. They dump all of that into an extremely frigid mixing bowl and turn on the mixer. Walla!! Fresh Pirate Booty Ice Cream! And the lemon is front and center in the flavor profile! This booty goes well in a cone or a cup. As I was walking in there were two folks outside licking on cones, as melted ice cream dripped on their T-shirts! I opted for a bowl. They must have had around 18 different flavors in their freezer case. I see multiple future trips!Well done One More Scoop!Well done indeed!Eating Ice Cream on a Sunday afternoon and life is good!"
"First time here and my husband never had Shake Shack before and what a great first impression. Was greeted and helped right away. The place looks super clean and the food was delicious! It definitely hit the spot. We had a great experience. Will definitely be coming back."
"For fast food Shrimp and fish and chips, this is a great place to stop. Good Service, helpful staff, clean property, good parking, and the fish was excellent compariing to other places fast food offerings."
"I saw this place on Instagram and since I love the strawberry hill area, I had to go over. I specifies fed the freeze dried skittles but they were sold out. We had ice cream. Try the corn ice cream. It's like a vanilla but sweeter. It will be my go to ice cream. I plan to get two scoops next time, but one scoop will be the double fudge which taste great as well. I spent $47 worth of candy and ice cream and it was all worth it. Other than the freeze dried the candy was your typical. I would like to see more variety in the candy. We sat down, as there is ample seating, and we relaxed until closing time. An easy to clean game would be nice for each table. We will be back on"
"This place is just amazing. From the food to the service...hands down this is a must try!!! You're going to love it. Nice open seating, lots of tables for small or large crowds."
"Love this place!! The best Ice cream in town. Get the cabana boat. Super good prices and love the drive through. Haven't got to try the food yet!"
"Over all a lovely experience. Each bite was filled with tropical fruity flavors that blended together incredibly. Beautiful presentation and the texture was so nice on my tongue. Service was fast and polite. Please check this adorable shop out for some good healthy food."
"We had mangoñadas and a couple of beef gorditas. They were very good! My family approves and we will be back."
"5 stars for cleanliness, customer service and food quality. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love seeing the one kid busting his butt every time delivering food to cars outside (rain or shine). Talk about dedication!"
"Loved this place ! My favorite by far of any smoothie /juice bar ! The flavor was so delicious! Wish they were closer . We need more of them around ! Bring one to independence and blue springs!"
"The small (16 oz) berry banana blast ($8.25) was packed full of delicious, fruity flavor. I liked the good variety of healthy ingredients available and the ability to create your own smoothie.I found the dining area to be clean and new, while the service was cheerful and efficient. The menu includes bowls, smoothies, juices, wellness shots and grab n go items.Overall, very nice."
"This is the ideal spot for grabbing just a snack as it's a Paleteria (Mexican ice cream shop) or to dine in their restaurant since it is combined. We ordered the al pastor machetazo, asada huarache, asada & al pastor tacos and some chicken and cheese empanadas (not pictured) and a strawberry agua fresca. My most favorite were the tacos and the empanadas. The meat was just right, tender and flavorful. The available sauces were also super tasty, not too spicy. The customer service was amazing, very kind and attentive owners. I would describe this place as a hole in the wall, will be returning!"
"I thought this place was excellent. Bright and clean. Salsa bar - which I love. I ordered the taco combo with pork / carnitas. I received 3 tacos with double soft shells on each, a large portion of spicy pork, onions and cilantro. They also included limes and salsa in my carry out. The beans and rice were flavorful - beans really runny but I loved the bits of onion on top. It took about 10 minutes to get my order. Friendly service. The other reviewers had a very different experience than I. More authentic than others in KC. Highly recommend and might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant."
"So cuuuute and really yummy! Great price $5 for a small, which is the same size as the other similar rolled ice cream places I've been. Then there's the large for 7.50. Simple fresh ingredients served up by the nicest people. Coffee, pizza, hotdogs, floats also available.Love that it's in the historic Troost neighborhood. Which is looking better and better each year. 2 years so far and hope sweet cups is here for many more!"
