"People will never understand living in the middle of nowhere, without a donut place in sight. Enter Donut Palace. My morning commute through Smithville now includes a detour into the drive thru. The staff is quick and efficient. The interior is brand new, and smells of heavenly yeast, and vanilla..... has anyone created that scent in a bottle before?!The donut holes are tiny poppable pillows of sweetness. The Bearclaw is soft, and filled with cinnamon and apples.The regular yeast donut is always fresh, and pillowy. The old fashioned donut is one of my favorites! I do wish for a harder fry on it, that comes down to personal preference though. The jalapeno kolaches, homemade biscuit sandwiches, and croissants are another reason this place is thriving! Never leave, Donut Palace, never leave."

"I've been picking up apple fritters for my father in law for a couple of weeks. He's homebound following a stroke and they bring him a little joy. I'm not from the area so I use Google maps to find donut shops. It will lead me to a different donut shop in Olathe each time. That said, I've sampled a few.Daylight donut has excellent quality. They aren't the biggest, but they're certainly the best. The last time I was in, the person working popped a few donut holes in my bag for free. I ate a few as I was driving away. They were so airy and flavorful. It took all of my willpower not to polish them off before I got back to the house. Now when I map it, I'll put in Daylight donuts."

"Fifteen hours before we were supposed to leave for Spring Break we got an email that our flights were cancelled and after hours of trying we could find no other way to our destination. This left a little five year old sobbing. Our neighbor came to the rescue the morning we were supposed to leave and left half a dozen donuts on our porch for her. They smelled amazing and were incredibly fresh. The cinnamon rolls was huge with lots of tear apart layers and covered in glaze but a very thin glaze so it didn't overpower. The sprinkle cake donuts are adorable and moist. The long john was perfect and pillowy. I can't speak on the customer service since we didn't pick them up but I will say it can't be bad if they make donuts this good."

"Donuts donuts donuts!!! I had never been here but always heard of it and it doesn't disappoint! They have parking on the side of the building when arriving. As soon as I walked in the door I was smacked with the smell of sweetness!! There is plenty of seating inside as well to have a nice breakfast! They had a lot of merchandise as well which is surprising for a donut shop, but added a cuteness and uniqueness to it! The donuts are so fresh and warm which stands out from your other donut shop I feel like! There's a variety of donut flavors you can choose from too. Like maple bacon, fruity pebbles, and French toast was my favorite!!! They seemed a little busy with call in orders on a Friday morning which isn't surprising. They said if I wanted the mini version of the donuts it would take about 30 mins, so I went ahead and went with a classic dozen case and told them to just pick which ever ones they favorites to put in it! They wasn't one flavor I was upset with! I also got some shatto chocolate milks to go with it, (almost 6 dollars, but definitely worth that extra bit lol). Overall such a fun stop for a yummy breakfast donut! And service was nice and welcoming:)"

There was plenty of space and it was quiet. But better yet the lady at the front counter was wonderful. She was kind and she didn't mind me coming in and getting a tea just to have a call. Another woman came in while I was there and made what I perceived as a rude comment about having to buy something to use the Wi-Fi then proceeded to use the Wi-Fi and not buy anything so I elected to buy an additional treat on my way out. I was pleasantly surprised when the same lady at the front counter surprised me with a double treat and gave me an extra donut just to be kind. Overall 10 out of 10 experience for what I needed in the moment and for kindness."

By the time I entered, (around 11:30 AM), there were only about 2 dozen pastries left in the display case.My friend somehow managed to "convince" me to have one of the dozen she bought. I had the double chocolate [cake] donut--it was delicious! So soft and delectable, very fresh tasting. The icing was tasty, too! Not too sweet, and not waxy either. They've been there for about 20 years (& I'm just now visiting??) and they've gotten a few awards.Note to self: This establishment shares parking with Eggtc., Minsky's, a liquor store, gas station and a couple other businesses so parking on a late Sunday morning is iffy at best. It would appear that there is limited seating there and might be considered a grab and go type deal, but I'm not sure--it's a small venue though.The guy behind the counter -- maybe the owner/baker, was nice."
