Michelle L. "Always & Furever is, on the surface, an animal rescue that primarily focuses on saving older dogs. In reality, Always & Furever is the most amazing community of animal lovers I have had the pleasure to know. They helped to clean up a local pound, take on cats and kittens and board younger dogs who wouldn't fit in so well at the barn - all in the name of making sure each animals knows love. I have donated, volunteered and fostered for them. It's a great place to do all three! I can't speak to adopting there because I have my hands full in my current situation. That said, I've referred several friends and family to do so. They have all only had wonderful things to say about their experience. Once I am ready, this will be the first place I look!"

Sarah B. "I have such mixed things to say about this place. The best of it is the community of residents, the support staff, and the relatively pretty, park-like surroundings, which is mostly lawn, but does include a little pocket of shade and a flower garden. There are a lot of selling points that aren't there. The "gym" is a cold, dark room with a table full of free weights and an elliptical machine that few can use, and the group exercise consists of, one day a week, having someone on staff turn on a TV in a common room and tune in to a broadcast chair exercise program. The "library" is a cold room with people's book discards and a lot of proselyting material. The library and the gym both are sealed off by very heavy fire doors, with difficult access for someone using a wheelchair or a walker. Meals are constructions of ultra-processed foods, with too much fat and salt, and all of the vegetables seem to come from cans. If you like tater tot casserole, you will thrive here. The best "activities" include weekly Spark meetings, two movies, "show-and-tell" programs in which residents give presentations in their areas of expertise; and then there are also calendar-filling things like hand massages. You never see an Armour Oaks van taking residents to the art museum, the Kauffman garden, or any play, lecture, or concert, but there is a weekly trip to Wal-mart. There is an on-site salon that charges extra if you have hair that is not naturally straight. There is a bingo game, a few card games, and a communal jigsaw puzzle. There is no dietitian, no group exercise options other than that one day each week in front of the TV. My parent has lived there for a while. It hadn't been on the top of our list of places to move to after the first time we toured, when the building reeked of sewer gas which the woman showing us an available apartment claimed was simply coming up through the foundation and then she deflected blame onto the city. At the time, we were told that there were more than 10 available apartments, but the one we were shown had been empty long enough for the water to have completely evaporated from the toilet bowl (the source of the sewer odor), but not long enough for AO to have cleaned the last tenant's food from the freezer. We returned for another look after hearing that a new building manager had been hired and was running the place with competence and integrity. That person has since been removed, as was the person who used to be in charge of dining before the age of the tater tot casserole."

Tracy B. "I had not been to Goodwill in ages. I was looking for kids toys, books and games. I had to babysit and I needed backup! I did not see one thing at Salvation Army Store so I headed to Goodwill. I was not going to pay full price for new when I was only babysitting once, right?I was pleasantly surprised by what Goodwill had to offer. There were tons of treasures all in great condition. The items were in good shape and neatly displayed. Everything was arranged in a nice order, easy to spot and examine. The end caps were arranged nicely in an eye catching appeal. Neat, clean and orderly. I was able to find what I needed easily and hassle-free. The attendant that helped me was very nice and friendly. The cashier was equally as nice and helpful. Additionally, the prices were very low and within range. I did not feel as if I was being gouged or taken advantage of as a thrift store customer. Some of these places are very pricey but I did that was the case here. One thing in particular that I liked about this store was that it was brightly lit. It was not dirty or dingy. It was sparkly and whistle clean."

My little one is having a hot cocoa bar for her birthday and I am gifting everyone with mugs that I design. I wanted to upscale so thrifting was where I started. I feel like this location is very clean and open. There are no funky smells and the cashiers are very polite and friendly. Prices were very low especially compared to other thrift stores in JOCO. We not only found pristine white coffee mugs they were only .69 cents. We have also been on the hunt for heavy cocktail glasses and have bombed everywhere or they are ridiculous in price. Not here, we found those too. All in all we got 16 pieces of glassware/mugs and of course a shirt my daughter begged to have for a total of $12."

The lady's that I worked with were pleasant, helpful and accommodating. They allowed for plenty setup and take down time. We even wanted to extend our evening which they were willing to allow but as it turned out we did not need it. The facility is gorgeous but once we added the decorations it was beautiful with the ability to adjust lighting it really set the ambiance. The kitchen is commercial so very helpful with prep and warming (very spacious). Bathrooms great and easy access. The parking was the absolute best thing. I highly recommend using this location for your next medium to small event."

I recently made a trip out to the KC PC location with a pile of medical supply donations. First, it's in the coolest underground tunnel system, Subtropolis. I emailed before I drove out and got directions lickity split. Donating was a cinch! Got an emailed receipt a few days later. Now to check their volunteer opportunities!! Wonderful place!"

It's a great time!We were invited last minute by another couple, not really sure what to expect on a Saturday night at the Curling Club. On TV curling looks pretty simple---ahh but it's not. We showed up, had to watch a few videos that we hardly paid attention too. The Curling Club member/president guy didn't have the best sense of humor. We finally made it to the ice, we had a different instructor who embraced our endless questions and humor. He took us step by step on how to release the stone, place our feet, sweep, get the stone into the house and how to place defense/offense. We also learned the proper terminology for the members of the team. The cost was around $25 a person and lasted about 2 hours (we were gipped some time). I wish they had a place closer to us, we would have joined a league. (40 min drive one way-OUCH). If you are looking for something different to do in KC, this is it. Dress comfty (try to avoid jeans, you stretch out a lot), wear rubber sole clean shoes and bring a positive open attitude! **Also, bring some water to hydrate, you get pretty thirsty."

It was so fascinating that I had to look it up and it appeared to be a museum dedicated to the trucking industry. Upon entry I found that it's basically an office with a reception area with curated displays about the history of trucking - old trucks, model trucks, and a timeline of trucks and the trucking industry. It's fairly low key entertainment for no cost and certainly not something you'd find in another city!"

I had no idea about this place. What's funny is we have explored every Park in Lee's Summit. I'm only 10 minutes away from this place and I never knew about this location lol :)I haven't yet explored inside the center. Based on what I see here this is almost like a YMCA but better. Here's what I like and what I explored so far. The pictures I took I can drink my morning coffee here and set at peace and watch the sunset or sunrise. If I found this place any earlier I would definitely come here and do all my exercise and hike the trails here.I seen a few wildlife when I couldn't catch them on picture but I got the frog when I was on the bridge. So what I found out to enter the center it's only seven bucks to get in if you're at Lee's Summit resident. But outside to hike a trail is free of course. In one of my days hopefully before I go back home to Vegas I'm going to go inside the center and check it out. I was told that there's an indoor swimming pool, basketball gym and a weightlifting gym in there. I definitely recommend this place and if you are a out-of-state resident like me this would be a great place to visit to get to know Lee's Summit.Have a great day!!!"

You would have had a very hard time getting me to leave, maybe an ice cream bribe would have worked but only once I was tuckered out! Each scene is immersive and designed to teach Science Tech Engineering Art and Math. Kids won't know that though, they'll be too busy playing shopping mart with those pint sized shopping carts and shelves of cans to realize they are counting them at the registers. Restaurant play area. Water play area. Sports play area. A paddlewheel steamer ship and covered wagon in the travel area. Paint on glass walls and then have fun cleaning up with spray bottles and squeegees. The staff are all wonderful and passionate about learning through fun. And if you don't have kids you should watch their event calendar for adult nights and themed events. Plenty of free parking and easy to access via bus line so the whole community can enjoy this gem."

I was scheduled for two appointments to get all my fillings done. Dr. Biersterfeld managed to not only do all of my fillings during the one appt., she also took the time to fill in the spaces between my gumlines and exposed roots that were causing me pain. Matt E. "After casually saying for months that I'd make it to The Living Room for a play, I finally did it. Tonight I saw Buckets of Blood. The play itself was OK-ish, but really...this is more of a review of the venue.Personally, I think The Living Room is a fantastic space! Having heard that it was named in honor of their multiple couches and easy chairs that are available for seating, I assumed it was going to be a seriously teeny-tiny, and thus bare-bones production. Well, it's not. There actually aren't all that many sofas available for sitting, and most people will be stuck in run-of-the-mill folding chairs (but cushioned, so comfy!) I'm not complaining, my point is simply they fit in a larger audience than I had anticipated. To go with it, the stage was also significantly larger than expected. Including the band, there were regularly almost a dozen people on stage, and it never felt cramped. I imagine they have the space and the flexibility to do a wide variety of shows.I do have a couple of complaints. First, the bathroom situation leaves something to be desired. During a 15 minute intermission, the line was frustratingly long. Additionally, I think it was pretty warm in the theater. I know it's unseasonably warm for April 1st, but it makes me question what a show in that space would be like in July. Having only seen one show I can't speak for the artistic direction of this particular theater company. But reading over the playbill and learning of who all is involved, I am going to venture a guess that The Living Room puts on some of the more daring and original productions in town. Small companies and low budgets certainly create many constraints, but they seem to make it easier to gamble. I look forward to seeing what shows come through The Living Room next!"

Area adults with developmental disabilities sell their artwork here and also use the space to create their work. This is a great way for the artists to make income. 80% of the price goes directly to the artist. The remaining 20% is used to buy products for the artists to use. If you can not make it on First Friday, you can stop by on a weekday to see the work. I purchased a great piece and I am looking forward to visiting and adding to my collection.
