"Having visited the KCMO area over the years (our son moved down in June 2001 to take a promotion), we've had the pleasure of visiting several wonderful restaurants throughout the city and 'burbs. We have visited Jack Stack kore than once, but last night's experience was exceptional. Because of traffic conditions, we were forced to change our reservation not once but twice! The hostess was understanding and reassuring us there would be no trouble getting a table. We were seated promptly and our fantastic server, Emma, greeted us with a warm smile and pleasantries. Spit, spot. Drinks were served. Orders placed and the appetizer served. Our guests were wowed by the huge, uniformly sized DELICIOUS onion rings. And commented on the yummy horseradish sauce. The plates were presented next. Lovely plating! Bravo to the kitchen crew!!!Our guests were pleasantly impressed with the size of the restaurant, how busy it was for a Wednesday evening and tremendous service we the received. Emma was a ROCK STAR! We appreciated the attention to detail on food due to a couple of dietary concerns. Again, the kitchen staff exceeded our expectations. Many thanks. The place is well lit, comfortable, roomy seating. It's a bit loud for we old folks wearing hearing aids, but we managed just fine. You know we'll return. And hope to SOON!"
"Tannin didn't disappoint. A wonderful outing to this Wine Bar. We had made a reservation so that certainly helped. It was busy this Saturday evening and there was a great ambience aa we entered. We were seated in a booth and my only fault was that I wish the AC was turned down a bit.The Menu was wonderful with a good selection of cocktails and of course Wine. I ordered a Moscow Mule as my first choice was no longer available. I knew right off my choices were going to be from the starters Menu and they were just perfect. The delicious fries with Aioli were spot on. The ahi tuna tartare with its crispy wontons were a delight and the shrimp appetizer were so good i ordered another. I didn't order a meal from the Menu but my love did. He went with the 3 course meal and a wine flight which he said was very good. His steak was a perfect medium rare and he was very pleased. We will certainly be returning. I will add that parking can be a chore even though they do have a lot adjacent. We luckily found a spot on the street and paid through the app."
"One of the first vegan places where the biscuits and gravy actually tastes amazing. If I wasn't told it was vegan I wouldn't have known. BBQ tofu Nachos was also great. The bbq tofu had a great consistency and flavor. The cashew sour cream was delicious and I do not normally eat sour cream. The chicken salad was also really good, I had a couple bites and the vegan chicken had a nice crunch to go along with the salad and dressing. Definitely coming back if I'm in the area."
"The best ribs I have ever had!! Spicy bbq sauce was amazing too. Found this place on yelp on the way from Kansas City to Lawrence and was pleasantly surprised. Much preferred this to the chain bbq spots we tried in Kansas City. We'll be back next time we come to the Midwest!"
"We used Affordable Elegance Catering for our wedding last month. They were AMAZING! Everybody commented on how great the food was. Dee-Dee and her staff was an absolute pleasure to work with. From beginning to end they kept in contact with us to make sure our big day was perfect. We would recommend Affordable Elegance to anyone looking for a caterer. Thank you so much!!"

Never ordered a pork chop at a restaurant before. Why waste an order at a good restaurant on an easy cheap piece of meat. But wow did they make a pork chop one of the best things I've had in a long time. Crispy outside and not overdone on the inside. The fat had no gristle. It just melted into the meat. The stuffing was better than any Thanksgiving stuffing you've ever had. Broccoli is broccoli but it was cooked to perfection.

Too close and too good to miss! Yeah, they never look busy. It's grab and go mostly, even though some of us can't wait to dig in? There are a few perches. They have a huge following since they are champion barbecue and cater many events outside the location. Whatever they have left available when you do arrive is worth a game change. Also you can call-in or on-site order to lock in. They are awesome and quick. Yes it's a smoke house, but the burgers and sometimes deserts are amazing too. You can't go wrong.

We were beyond happy with Affordable Elegance. They were amazing!! They went out of their way to make sure the day was perfect. The reception venue would not allow us to drop off cheese/fruit trays the morning of our wedding because they did not have anywhere to store them until that evening. Affordable Elegance brought the trays down for us and it was ready to go when cocktail hour started. They were so easy and friendly to work with. They service at the reception was professional and everything went smoothly. They served over 350 people at our wedding and everyone had plenty of food! I recommend AE to anyone getting married in the Kansas City area!

Came in on a Sunday soon after opening and quickly got a seat. Our server was kind and not overly attentive, just how we like it! Coming from the west coast we were used to bbq spots being more casual, this felt like a nicer restaurant! Could definitely see folks celebrating birthdays or graduations here. Family friendly yet a mature ambiance at the same time.Ordered a small spinach salad, jalapeño cornbread, and a 3 meat combo to share. The portions are huge and we had some leftovers but I think this amount is perfect for 2 people. The salad was delicious and had a good balance of refreshing textures. The cornbread had a yummy honey butter - couldn't taste much jalapeño but I was fine with that since I prefer sweet over savory cornbreads (this one is def leaning savory). For the combo, we got the sausage, baby back ribs, and brisket. We had fries on the side. They kindly split the combo into two plates for us which was a nice offer. The meats were amazing. My favorite was the ribs - super tender and thick cut, some places I've been there isn't much meat on the bone but really liked this one!! Smoky and flavorful. Brisket was also really nice and not dry. The sausage was good - no complaints there. Fries were standard and yummy. I'm not sure if I'll have bbq like this in awhile. Definitely recommend trying if you are visiting KC! A quick walk from Union Station.

"I requested the baked potato bar on January 29th for February 12th for 45 people around 11:00 am. I work for a software company so there are a lot of us. We ended up having to reschedule due to weather (3 weeks in advance) and rescheduled for Monday, February 17th; I got a call on the 17th asking about our order for the 18th. I explained to them that it was supposed to be today (the 17th), and they said they would call me with more information (this was around 9:30 am). I called again at 11 am, and they said the earliest they would be available was 1:30 due to waiting for the potatoes to be fully cooked. At 1:40, I received no call, so I called from three different numbers, and no answer. At this point, I told all my coworkers that they weren't coming, and that everyone had to get their own food. At 2:42 pm, they finally called and said they had a water leak this morning and had to switch kitchens and are just now headed here. They did not give me notice of this water leak that happened "this morning," even though I called them twice this morning, and they failed to mention that. She said it would be around 30 mins. It is currently 5 pm, and we still have not received our potato bar.Keep in mind this was for a corporate baby shower."
"I was anticipating my return to Jack Stack before I even left...and not for reasons you may think! If you are staying in the crown center area it's definitely worth a visit. Jack stack feels like an upscale BBQ experience. The inside is very spacious and the service was fast!I would like to acknowledge that the pork burnt ends were enjoyable and I'd get them again, but the pork ribs were pretty mid. They were definitely tender and fell off the bone but I found them lackluster. HOWEVER I came here to rave about the appetizers!!! In first place is the pulled pork Mac followed by the onion rings and then the jalapeño cornbread. Wow! I could have only had appetizers and left extremely happy. There are a few other things on the menu I would be interested in trying so I will be back"
"Just passing through town, we were lucky to catch them 30 minutes before closing. It was a busy night, I was dreaming of burnt ends but they were out by the late hour we arrived. Even so we enjoyed back ribs, chicken, beans, cheesy corn, and fries, all were excellent. High marks for menu, service, ambiance, parking and all the other things we tend to take for granted. I moved from KC over 30 years ago but am always happy to be able to get back for Jack Stack bbq... (it was late, phone battery was dead, sorry no pics...)"
"Lateee review alert (oops)I came here about a month ago as a tourist to the KC area and wanted some good barbecue. And that is what I got! The interior is very classy, with a bit of a steakhouse vibe. For the midafternoon (2:30-3 pm) window, it was rather busy, which is always a good sign. Service still moved quite quickly. I ordered a choose your own plate ($17?) with pork ribs and beef brisket. Both were absolutely amazing! I am a bit remiss that I don't remember more of my visit now. Oops again. I think though that I would frequent this location if I were a KC local."
