"Came here on a business trip from San Diego. I wanted to see what's the favorite spots in Lawrence. This spot is legit. The food is excellent, service is very accommodating, and beer selection is great. The food menu has a lot of European takes to it which is awesome to complement the beers. It's very busy during dinner which tells me everyone goes here. I'm Filipino, so I had to try their Lumpia's (Filipino Egg rolls) here which is left field. It was good, but needed some improvements. Portion is kinda small and thin. It's needs shrimp mixed to it or add extra pork added to its thickness. The dipping sauce needs a little tad sweetness to it like honey to it to off set the tangy flavor. But I respect the take. However, I order their French dip sandwich. It was very delicious with the Au Jus sauce. You definitely need to order the Onion Rings on the side. Onions Rings was one of the best I had."
"I think this is a cool spot. I was passing thru and wanted a Topeka specific vibe/ tradition place and wasn't disappointed. The beer I had was fantastic. Exactly as the wait staff presented it. Wish I had gotten a growler but I was flying home in a few days so it wasn't plausible. The food was great. I had the steakhouse burger which is a mix of the trimmings on their steaks. Im not a burger guy. But I read the description and had to try it. It was really awesome. Grilled sour dough bread. The pickle with it was great. So great. Wish I had one right now. Definitely give it a try if just visiting."

"I've been here many times for different occasions: happy out after work, first dates, consistent date nights, after finishing up a rec game, etc. -- and the service and atmosphere is always consistent, friendly, and enjoyable. The patio section is great in the summer evenings/fall, great for families or larger parties. Inside the have a mix of hightop and regular tables as well as a decent size bar that is easy to find a seat at and always good for convo if you're into chatting with people. The food and drink are delicious and consistent and typically come out quickly even in the busy times. They also have live music at times as well. Overall enjoyable for any age/group."
"My wife and I were on vacation in Kansas City visiting family. It was early May; our cousins live right near Kansas City Bier Company so naturally they had to share their favorite brewery with us. They knew I was a lame Yelp Elite and somewhat of a beer snob. Well, let me tell you! Kansas City Bier Co. did NOT disappoint. I quaffed down several pints of the Helles lager. It was crisp and delicious and very much in the true German fashion of what a Helles Lager should be. In fact, the entire theme/vibe of this brewery is full tilt German. The food was no less German, in fact, it was some of the most German sounding food I've ever had. We ordered this giant slab of meat on some squared looking thing of bread. Turns out it's called Leberkäse and the bread is simply ciabatta. My cousins, not to be outdone, ordered this massive bratwurst nestled between a ciabatta roll. Ya really can't go wrong with meat and bread washed down with a great beer. I'm writing this review from an office cubicle in downtown Richmond daydreaming of being anywhere but here.Kansas City Bier Co. is worth every star on Yelp. I can't wait to go back."
"Hidden gem in KC. We visited Brew Lab during KC Restaurant week and will be adding this restaurant to our list for date nights. We fell in love with their pretzel bites and queso! We had a flight of their house beer and if you like cider, I recommend Zuzu's Petals!"
"Had a huge family reunion dinner. Service and food was great! Brisket and bbq sauce was amazing!!!Highly recommend if you are ever in Topeka"

Dinner was good! We loved the bruschetta, have been wanting it again! Had fish & chips, was very good!!! Service Downside: Hubby ordered sandwich that was supposed to be on pretzel roll but wasn't told they were out of them until food arrived; the pretzel roll was main reason for ordering that particular item!

The waitresses were all very kind. My husband was over the moon about the beers then had. Great variety. We came on a Friday and their prime rib and bison burger was out of stock so we split a burger. We came a second time and my husband got a steak and I got the tiger Que plate. Some of the meats were dried out however the homemade bbq sauce was delicious.

Brewery Babe! Now, I have been well acquainted with Martin City's beers, such as the Hardway IPA, for years, but I had never stepped foot in their Taproom or tried their pizza. Until now. And man, am I happy I did because it's an experience all itself, the pizza may even be better than the beer. (That's still up for debate) I decided to visit the OG Martin City mostly because I signed up for their membership through 5-star 365 and because I knew I already enjoyed their beer. The original location is in Martin City, if that wasn't obvious by its namesake but moving on. Theinside of the taproom itself wasn't too large however, they did seem to have a large outdoor patio that I didn't get a chance to see. It's definitely a family-friendly vibe, aka casual - nothing too stuffy, exactly what you'd want in a pizza and beer joint. The menu boasts red sauce pizza creations as well as a larger portion of the menu that houses less traditional pizzas as well as ones with an alfredo sauce base. I went with one of the latter options and chose a pizza that had white sauce as well as apple, for a sweet and savory combo, and sausage. The crunch on this pizza again took note of the perfection of sweet things mixed with salty and paired candied crushed pecans on top of all the melty gooey cheese and garlicky alfredo base. This was such a winner of a combination, but it also was very rich, so after two pieces and a pint of beer, I was beyond satisfied. (And had a lunch for tomorrow) The wait time on the pizzas was quick since it's obvious these are fired to order in a specialty pizza oven. Even with a pretty packed restaurant, we ordered our beers and pizza at the same time and barely had time to sip our beers before the pizza arrived at our table! I will definitely be back, potentially month to month, to use my membership and try some more of the traditional as well as unique pizzas on the menu. It's just a bonus it can be enjoyed with a freshly brewed local beer!

Love this taste of Germany, and love how it's set up off of the Trolley Trail and gives life to this stretch of Waldo.I have great memories of this place over the years, from Yelp events, to taking our dog here as a little pup. It's the quintessential German bier hall, with wooden tables, a biergarten outside, soccer often playing inside, and loads of well-made beers (biers?). As time has marched on, it's nice to know that this place is kid-friendly as well. Our kids loved the dunkel brats and pretzels, but I will say there isn't much for them to actually do. A suggestion would be some board games, some little cozy coupes to cruise around in, or even a small playground in the big green space nearby. I tell ya, us parents needing a break would love it. I remember doing a beer tour here and the owner explained the process of the beers. It's very technical, and in his words, a bit "boring" compared to the super trendy IPAs and whatnot out there. For me, it hits the spot especially in the summer as many of the beers here are light and refreshing. The Helles or the Dunkel are a go-to for me, and I like seeing what's available seasonally as well.Overall, a great brewery that holds high esteem in the KC brewery scene. I think this is a great spot to visit on a nice night, and love that one could ride their bike ride up to the biergarten here.

Happy to be so close to this awesome hangout!! It is the perfect place to go for a late afternoon patio beer, a tasty pick-me-up snack, or to catch a game. They have some pretty interesting beers on tap - we tried one with gin and a bunch of strange botanicals and while we probably wouldn't order it again we do appreciate the artistry and intrigue of something we've never conceived of tasting before! They truly do live up to their experimental Lab name! The sweet and salty pretzel bites were outta this world! Crisp and hot but soft and fluffy on the inside, I'd crush a plate of these again in a second. The fries were also tasty - overall a great spot to wind down from a farmer's market run!

My father in law turned 60 last month and to get the family together at a central location we all decided that we should meet up in Topeka to celebrate. The best time for everyone was going to be a weekend brunch and much to my surprise, there just aren't that many local or more upscale brunch options in Topeka. Most of the better restaurants don't open until 11 even on Saturday or Sunday, so it took us a while to find someplace that was open, was not a massive chain, and would be a fun place for a celebration. Enter Iron Rail Brewing. Now, the Yelp reviews for this place are kind of hit and miss to be honest I can see why, but the quick summary is that Iron Rail is a pretty solid choice in Top City. Now, I used to work in Topeka for a few years, and had the opportunity to get to know the town a bit. There just aren't that many amazing local eateries but this is slowly changing and since it's been a while since I'd returned I was pretty excited to give this place a go. When we arrived our family had secured a large table, big enough to accomodate our group. The restaurant was bustling - likely because there aren't that many great brunch spots in Topeka! My husband and I ordered the nashville hot chicken biscuit and it was good. The biscuit was a bit disappointing, but the chicken was solid, and they serve real hashbrowns here which is always a win. The servers were kind, food came out fairly promptly (with the exception of one order in our group), and folks overall enjoyed their food. I think in a bigger market where there are more options it would maybe be closer to three stars, but this was the best brunch I'd ever had in Topeka, and I'd like to come back to try their beers someday. Overall, I'm so grateful this spot exists and they are paving the way for even more great local businesses to open up in town. Totally worth a stop if you're in the area.

My husband and I headed to Crane Brewing after a nice hike on Blue River Trail. This brewery is pretty unassuming from the outside, but packed with charm (and yummy brews, according to my husband) on the inside. Trying to get to Crane Brewery can leave you wondering if Google Maps got confused. It's pretty off the beaten path. Once you arrive, the exterior, although a bit 'warehouse-y' and industrial, hints at the awesomeness within. The interior is pretty great, striking a nice balance between cozy and cool. When we were there, it wasn't too busy/loud, which was perfect so we could enjoy our conversation without having to yell. The servers were not only knowledgeable about the beers, but also very friendly and helpful. We felt comfortable asking for recommendations and chatting about the bikers who come in off the trail.Speaking of the trail...the proximity to the bike trail seems like a stroke of genius. But it turns out that the brewery was actually there before the trail - they just got lucky and the new trail morphed into a steady stream of business from its bikers.Overall, Crane Brewing is pretty awesome - it's definitely a destination worth visiting...and pedaling to!!

It was our first visit to this delightful spot, and I can confidently say it won't be our last! Our server, Jay, was exceptional--his attentiveness and warm demeanor made the experience all the more enjoyable. The barbecue here was nothing short of incredible, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. To complement our meal, we indulged in a flight of sour beers that were absolutely divine, each one crafted with a perfect balance of tartness and depth. It was a memorable dining experience that left us eager to return!

"Had an Italian Grinder and it was very tasty. Sandwiches come with chips and pickle. Cool and welcoming atmosphere. Everything was on point."
"Friendly place and variety of beers and barbecue near the cute downtown area of Liberty"
"Definitely a fun atmosphere and vibe! Pretty clean and neat too. We had a party of 13 and our service was excellent. Everyone was very happy with their meals. I hear the tenderloin is the thing to get but my burger was delicious. Fried pickles were so good too! I enjoyed the belgian ale. The chips and salsa were unlike any I have had before. The chips were freshly made to order, well seasoned, and thick but a little soft which doesn't sound like it would be good but they were absolutely delicious. The kind you just can't stop eating. Never had chips like that before but can't stop thinking about them. Should I find myself in this town again I will most definitely be back!"
"Food service and ambiance on point. I didn't take a picture of our pizza. But, it was delicious as always!"
"FPO and I came here at the recommendation of friends. We got here about 6 pm on a Saturday and only one table was taken. We were greeted as we walked in and told we could sit wherever. Others came soon after and by the time we got our food the restaurant was about half full.We ordered the Portobello Mushroom Strips (minimally breaded but a little salty). FPO got the full rack of baby back ribs. I tried them and they were okay. Needed the BBQ sauce; the ribs weren't flavorful alone. I ordered the Avocado Chicken Sandwich. It was okay. Not bad, not especially good, not particularly memorable. The service was okay. Our waiter answered the questions we asked. There was someone else who spent most of his time leaning on a pillar near the bar. We also saw another of the employees eating something a customer was returning to the kitchen because it was incorrect. Next time we'll explore someplace else."
"We decided to head to trivia night at Iron Kettle with a friend of ours. It's really a pretty nice little bar - the atmosphere is rustic and it really fits well with the small-town vibe of Grain Valley. It also has outdoor seating, including rooftop seating which is pretty cool, although I don't think it's often used.I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was pretty tasty! My husband and his friend enjoyed their food and beers, but I really would've liked to see a few more healthy options on the menu - and maybe one or two vegetarian options wouldn't hurt either.Trivia was a lot of fun, and we actually ended up winning...so that was awesome!Overall, we were pleased with our experience! We'll definitely be back for another trivia night."
