Frank S. "Let me start with the bad. The host/hostess needs some training. We went to breakfast on Sunday 6/5/22 and she could not manage the wait time and was totally overwhelmed. There were tons of tables and she had us waiting for 35 minutes. That is the only negative comment I will make about the restaurant. (This could also be a management/staffing issue. Now for the good the waitress we had was totally personable and on top of everything. She was quick to take our orders, our order came out correctly and our drinks never ran out. For a chain the food was excellent the biscuits and gravy were great and the skillet I ordered was a good amount of food and tasty."

Rose D. "This fabulous scratch kitchen was everything I hoped for and more for a weekday lunch. The cashier was extremely helpful, providing recommendations that we ordered and were outstanding. We ordered the Moroccan salad, adding Jerk chicken as recommended. We also got the Cuban confit pork sandwich. Both were so flavorful, very well crafted and so delicious. We also ordered a slice of orange poppy seed cake from their bakery display. It was moist and the citrus flavor cut through beautifully. Lastly, we wanted to try a hand pie and nibbled on the lamb and harrisa pie. Not to sound like a broken record, but it was flavorful and the pasty dough was so flakey and buttery. The hand pie price felt a bit steep for me, but worth a try. The prices of their sandwiches and salads felt reasonable for everyday lunch. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, beautiful full-alcohol bar and also a barista stand for made to order coffee. They had a patio outside that would be great for nice-weather dining. Their front door is not handicapped accessible HOWEVER they have a back entrance through the connected office building that is accessible."

Jen H. "We did the bacon breakfast burrito from Fenix.  Great burritos are not hard to find in KC but Fenix does something I have not seen before.  They brush the tortilla with what taste like a garlic butter on it and press or grill it.  Not sure which.  It was such a unique twist that made them stand out.  This burrito is a bit steep but the fillings are plentiful making it worth it.  It is on the salty side with the bacon and garlic butter then cheese but the salsa is mild and fresh, acidic to balance it out."

Carter M. "The food it Great and the Service and the Ambiance is really great as well. They sit you down at a seat like in like two seconds and you walk in you tell him how many people you have and they just give you your menu you look at it you just get it and then what you don't need is what you don't eat and then you could take it home if you are not finished with the food that you ate they're at BC Bistro and then you could probably get dessert. I don't know if they have, sir, but all I know that this place has gotten good reviews sometimes bad reviews I don't know but I would recommend everybody to try this place out. It's got really good food. It's got really good service. They say you gonna see and you just wait for your food. I don't think it takes a long time, but I did have to wait a long time but they bring you out your food. Your drinks that you want and then after you get after you want to get your train with your food or whatever you gotta get there and then after you get done eating, you can just do whatever you need to do and go back home chill and then if you get hungry later, you can eat your food that's what this place is all about you take your food to go and then you go home then if you want your food later, you can have your food later you know whatever you want to do With your Food That you ate before you got finished eating there Thanks that's all I have to say about this place :)"

Steven T. "I stopped here for breakfast to start my day because it was close to my hotel. It's a generic diner in a great location with some parking. The menu is normal except for the the Bob special. The decor is kitch with generic tables and chairs. The place is nothing fancy but it works. My service was off because I was forgotten about. Service was lacking but the food was great so no stars were harmed on this visit. Ok listen up people, the Bob special is very unique because it's a big biscuit topped with country fried steak, hash browns, scrambled eggs smothered in country gravy.OMG the Bob special looked amazing piping hot to my table. This was absolutely delicious by the way. The hash browns were golden crisp, the country fried steak was golden crispy and three times thicker than the crap in my city. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the abundance of thick creamy country gravy like a volcano erupted on this mountain of food was so good.Overall this was a great choice for a breakfast spot and on my trips, I spend hours researching the area for the best possible restaurants and this one hit it out of the park, great job."

Great location (if you're here for convention) with good food with reasonable price. I ordered bacon cheeseburger and it was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting anything from this place because it was so random but the patty was delicious and the bacon was well-cooked - not crispy but not too soft either which is perfect for burger. It was $4.95 and if you want sides it's $2 each. Wish it was like a dollar more expensive but comes with fries. The buns look sad but they're actually really tasty, I was surprised. They also habe breakfast menus and salads. Giving them 5 starsbecause of the reasonable price with pretty good food and there's no significant reason to take off stars."

Phil C. "I came upon this place from researching the area prior to my trip. Although I don't really watch morning shows, my interest was piqued when I noticed Sommerset won "Best Pie in America" on Good Morning America. Even Diane Sawyer wanted a pie here for her yacht on Christmas. Getting here from Topeka was somewhat uneventful. You drive through cow pastures and fields. There isn't very much around on the way here. However, I did see various animals (dead or alive) on the road, such as deer, a large rodent-like creature, and a snake. The immediate vicinity reveals that there's not much going on here, save for this institution. The coconut cream pie was what put this spot on the map. I wish I had room for other ones that I might've been interested in, such as the apple crumb pie. However, the coconut cream pie isn't all hype. The crust, while not quite as flavorful as fully buttered crusts, was quite flaky. The two layers of the pie were fantastic. The custard underneath had the right amount of sweetness and it was smooth throughout. The meringue was frothy and smooth. There was enough toasted coconut on top. Service was friendly and cordial. If you find yourself in Topeka, Sommerset is worth a side-trip."

Miguel M. "Small hole in the wall establishment off of 635 Hwy and Steele Rd in KCK. We had been recommended to try Casa Bonita because it was authentic Mexican food and when you look at the menu and see the various options like flor de calabaza, menudo and posole on the weekends you know its as authentic as it gets. We'll start with the carne asada tacos I tried the meat and it had good flavor although these were for our pup waiting in the car which she loves her tacos plain. My wife ordered the menudo which we had been searching for a long time a good menudo in KC and she said it is now top on her list for places with good menudo. I had the chilaquiles verdes which were pretty good but not as good as homemade. The entertainment was a random group that came in but since noone paid $25. per song they didn't perform. Maybe next time! We will definitely go back and see if a Five Star rating is in order for the next adventure at Casa Bonita. Give it a try and help a small business."

They let us order lunch even though we were 15 minutes early for that menu, which was much appreciated. My wife had the open faced tenderloin with mashed potatoes and corn. The tenderloin was topped with a tasty cream gravy and the combo was hearty and flavorful. I opted for their patty melt with onion rings. The burger was decent, but the onion rings were exceptional. Our bill was only $26.61 (and that is including a 20% tip). We shall return and we look forward to trying their breakfast options."

Sampled the cheeseburger, onion rings and the hot dog with chili and cheese. The burger was thin and delicious, cooked on a flat top. Onion rings were large and generous. The big surprise was the hot dog sandwich. Served with at least two or more split top hot dogs the smothered in chili with beans and American cheese. It was huge and more than enough for two. I was expecting a Detroit style chili dog but hey that's why I try hot dogs everywhere I go, you never know what you're going to get. I added this place because I hope to come back!"

Steven F. "Just back from a traveling vacation trip. While driving down the highway saw a sign advertising a Pork Tenderloin sandwich. After doing some research we found out the Saint Joseph's is the pork tenderloin capital of the US. Used yelp to help us pick out a place and landed at Pappy's. They have a fairly big menu with lots of good sounding items, however had to focus on the tenderloin sandwich. It was wonderful. Some places have a huge piece of pork, however, to make that they pound it really thin. Not here. Pappy;s tenderloin is served on a great roll. It is bigger than the roll but does not cover the plate. It is just the right size. It was extremely juicy. Good thickness. Coating is just right. Was a great sandwich. It comes with a side. They have a lot of sides to pick from, like 3 types of fries. I went with the crinkle cut. They were nicely cooked and had a good crunch. What a small, wonderful place. The people who work there are extremely friendly and helpful. This is a great neighborhood place.I highly recommend it."

I am proud to be the first reviewer, and announce that they have put some nice touches on this bar/restaurant. It's a 50's vibe from the music, to the red leather seats, to how the drinks are made, to the outfit the staff is wearing, without the racism(:I ordered the bourbon apple mule, and it was strong. *please note* I am a light weight so moist drinks with alcohol will be fairly strong. The bourbon apple mule was sweet with a big kick. It's made with bourbon and apple butter, so if you don't like whiskey this isn't the drink for you. This place is more for mature crowd in Lawrence, except $5 Martini Thursday's brings a crowd of all into the bar. This is definitely a high quality bar to taste the flavor of the drinks you order.
