"Sometimes the dining stars align. Not all who wander through Parkville are lost but find themselves at Cafe Des Ami's doorstep by happy happenstance. With no reservations on a Friday night and 5 minute wait we were ushered to the outdoor dining area. Sublime breeze and a tree house like feel. Candles lit, wine sipped as we chatted with our young hostess. It's a family ran business and our hostess is first generation and her parents both French are busy taking care of patrons too. They go back to Paris every year and she's having a great first week back to school. Beef short ribs and a Le Creuset filled with mussels, shrimp, salmon in creamy wine sauce arrive. Both are divine and we leave no morsel behind thanks to the hot bread. Everything about the experience is thoughtful, meant to be enjoyed thoroughly. I almost felt bad snapping the image of it all, but just almost. It was a night worth remembering and eagerly look forward to repeating it."
"Great place for a quick easy bite. Definitely not diet friendly but who cares if you are just looking for a lunch and don't want to drive far. I would recommend ordering online, especially if it is around lunch time."
"Close, convenient, friendly, good selection. These guys have it done right. The appeal had taken an upwards trend since the store ws reopened under the monicker of Brookside wine and spirits. Previously, it was royal liquor, and a complete dive. Why do I like this place? What other place lets you being your dog in, no one! The owners cool, the workers are laid back and offer great tips of what's in stock. As far as wine goes: they suggested the f- bomb ( yes, that's really it's name) and it was a really good choice! They stock good beers, besides the standard stock and I've found a few rarities that I even had to fight a neighbor over ( they didn't deserve it). This place carries cigars, which I'm not fond of, but it at least ads some to the neighborhood. I still can't get over the fact they let me shop with my dog. It's really everything you wanted in a neighborhood store. I try not to review anything and everythg - and only want places that I would use or recommend using. I think this app is only viable if cool places make the cut. That's my humble opinion.... Here goes..."

This place was so cute and tucked away! It seemed to be an old house converted into a cafe, they put a French charm to the place all around! Menu was to die for! I had the salmon with lemon and white wine sauce and it literally melted in my mouth. Best salmon I've had! Crème brûlée was of course not a disappointment as well! Staff was fast and observant at when water was needed and food came out fast. Would definitely come back and try more!

Tucked away in the West Bottoms in an industrial area is this Corner store/liquor store/deli/ whatever. At 1:30 on a Tuesday this place was hoping! No indoor seating ... it's a grab and goWe had the Cowboy burger and the chicken club. With sides of tater tots and hand cut fries. All servings are generous and prices economical. Now the Cowboy burger is NOT for the faint of heart! Very tasty and delicious however if you don't like HEAT, order without jalapeños. I literally broke out in a sweat!! They definitely don't use your average jalapeños!The chicken club comes either fried or grilled. We opted for grilled and I was thankful for the mayo on it to kill the burn in my mouth! Another very generous serving of chicken with lettuce, tomato, bacon and cheese. The hand cut fries were nicely seasoned and the tater tots crispy. Service was extremely fast.

In my first visit I was on a quest for Boulevard's recently released Saison Brett. I was discouraged to learn that they had sold out quickly. As I perused through the store the manager/owner (I presume) appeared with a bottle that he had stashed for personal consumption. He informed me that he was willing to part ways with this limited edition masterpiece under one condition... that I return in the future for my alcohol related needs. Safe to say I agreed to the terms, and left feeling like I had just done business with someone that actually cares about service. I wouldn't have given that bottle to the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

My fave little liqour store! Lots of choices of Missouri wines and beer. Very friendly folks, even offered to order a brand if they didn't have it. They also have many choices of Irish creme and Kaluha's. Nom Nom!

Awesome place! Huge selection, very good prices and the woman that works there is great. My husband likes a specific beer and it's hard to find. When I asked if they had it, they didn't. The woman there got on the phone and ordered it. It's hard to find people this helpful. I tell everybody to go there now. And as I mentioned, the prices seem to be better than a lot of local places.

"I have had visits from the Spirit World, but I never imagined I could visit the Spirit World and return to tell everyone about my visit.I enjoy visiting liquor stores. I was looking for a bottle of Remy Martin Cognac, but it was not on display. It was in the cage with the owner. That's where they keep all the good stuff. As a Californian, I enjoyed looking at the regional wines they have for sale: Riverboat white and red sweet wine from Rocheport, Missouri and Stony Hill Wine from Camilla, Missouri: "wine with an attitude". Spirit World does not have a tasting room, but the prices for these bottles of wine are more than half what one would expect to pay for a Napa Valley tasting and you get a quart of wine as opposed to 6 ounces of Napa wine... so one may just buy the bottle of wine if one is interested in a tasting. How much of a deal is that?!Interested in the Spirit World? You can visit this one and get some real deals on the regional wines of Missouri."
"This is a a craft beer gem in the middle of seemingly nowhere. They are the biggest liquor store I know of north of the river, with a huge selection of craft and standard favorites. All the KC and MO area breweries are represented, as well as many of my hometown favorites: Elysian, Stone, Ballast Point, Firestone, to name a few. Even my old stand by when I can't decide; Bass! Oh yes, they have a an equally wide selection of hard liquor and spirits, along with all your mixers. This place is clean, bright, spacious. Yet with all this, the real win about this place is the staff! You are always greeted a cheerful hello, as though they are genuinely happy you stopped in, and helpful when you're just not sure what you will choose. This level of customer service goes a really long way, and is the main reason I will make this place my first stop for all adult beverage needs."
"Great selection! Awesome staff! My new and fave go to for all my boozy purchases. Super convenient too."
