Hilary L. "I love finding a great Thai food restaurant! With Thai Place, you can't go wrong. We swung by on a Tuesday night for an impromptu dinner. We were sat immediately and had very prompt and attentive service throughout the meal. I highly recommend the Pad Thai, yellow curry, & yellow fried rice. The dumplings and crab rangoon also earned honorable mentions. I'm typically a mild spice level girlie but I did try out my friend's medium pad Thai. While spicy, it was manageable!"

Keri S. "When I heard that the owners of Waldo Thai had opened a new restaurant with Latin and Thai-style food, I knew I had to go try it! After a few months since they opened, my boyfriend and I decided to have an unplanned date night on a Saturday evening and drove out to River Market for the night. I tried using Open Table to find last-minute bookings, but couldn't find any. So I looked through my saved collections on Yelp and remembered that I've been meaning to try Muni. It was fate when we found out that we didn't need to make bookings and that it was first come, first served. Though we had to wait a short time for a table when we got there, we were told that some seats at the bar had opened up, so we didn't have to wait as long for a table. When we asked the bartender for help with choosing food and drinks, she was friendly and willing to help. We made the choice to share the birria dumplings and pad gra pow empanadas after reading the menu. Each one was great, and the sizes were perfect for sharing. You can definitely tell the difference between the two meals if you've had a chance to try them separately. The pad gra pow empanadas definitely had flavors that were similar to the traditional Thai dish pad gra pow, which was spot on and delicious. The outside of the empanadas also had a tasty and unique texture. I couldn't get enough of it because it was so delicious and wonderful. I've found my new favorite place to go on a "treat yourself" date. If you want to do something different in Kansas City, I strongly suggest that you go to Muni. You won't be sorry. I can't wait to try everything else when I get back!"

John P. "Waited a couple of weeks to try. You can order by kiosk. The system is quick and easy to read. There are also physical menus so you can plan what you want to order versus having everyone hang around the screen. Drinks are from a display refrigerator, the dining area is a wide-open area with decoration on the back wall, and not much else but didn't go for the scenery. I don't know if this is the case but some of the food seems to be made off-site and reheated on-premises. If I am wrong that's what it tastes like. Local reviews on other sites were very complimentary, so maybe we came on a bad day but I'm curious to try out the sister restaurant and see if I can get anything close to approaching their menu/website photos. My Singapore glass noodles were unevenly heated, the kind of hot spots I would expect with a microwave, the curry sauce was absent other than mild flavor. The vegetables didn't make it into plural, just very finely chopped carrots. This dish did not remotely look like the picture on their website which contains meat pieces two to three times larger than what made it here. Hot and sour soup serviceable, crab rangoons, you can defrost your own at home. they had that needed more defrosting before cooking texture /appearance in the filling. Beef Hibachi fried rice: dry, doesn't stick together enough to use with chopsticks, tastes reheated. The beef was good in the dish but bland or no seasoning. There were no vegetables or anything in the fried rice which matched the picture on site. Uncle Roger would put the foot down so hard it would register a 5 on the Richter scale.Sushi... Our daughter has never left sushi on the table, or not gotten a to-go box until tonight. The tuna texture is one that I've yet to encounter before, it's not spicy unless mayo is considered spicy. Not making any claims on quality/ freshness just that it felt like little segments inside an orange and it's the only spicy tuna roll she's not ended, and that includes grocery/club store sushi. Overall left feeling this was like I had ordered good food and took some home for reheating the leftovers for the next day, which is great unless you are paying full price and end up binning the food."

Bill B. "This restaurant is in the same strip mall in East Lawrence as the Set 'em Up Jack's sports bar and the Cascada La Golondrina Mexican Restaurant. Moriki Sushi is a surprise, much better than we had anticipated. The food is excellent, the dining room very nice, and the background music pleasant. The dining room has three booths along the windows and comfortable tables of different size throughout the attractive room. There also is a sushi bar. We sat at a booth, and the service was excellent. They have Sapporo beer, hot sake, and three choices of cold saki, including the excellent Momokawa saki. We got the hot sake with our appetizers and a bottle of Momokawa cold, dry sake with the sushi. We finished only half the bottle and took the rest home. They also have two other smaller bottles of cold sake, one sweet and the other sparkling. We will probably try the sparkling one next time. At present, they do not have regular grape wine, but might in the future. For appetizers, we tried the Hiyayakko tofu, the iron egg, spring rolls, and the smoked salmon sashimi. All four were absolutely excellent! We were very impressed. We also got the miso soup, which was fine but not outstanding. We usually like to add a little hot sauce to miso soup, so we asked for hot sauce. We were brought an excessively large bowl of Sriracha. An upcharge for hot sauce is rather unusual, but we were charged 50 cents for the unnecessarily large bowl of sriracha. Next time we will not ask for hot sauce, since we found the upcharge to be rather annoying, although trivial. For sushi, we got the Las Vegas Roll and the Philadelphia Roll. They were very good, although they have only white sushi rice. We usually prefer brown or black rice, but they do not have them.We would suggest that they make available a regular grape wine (at least a chardonnay white wine) and brown or black rice and drop the upcharge for hot sauce."

Andrew K. "I've been enjoying Anousone since the days of the food truck on Southwest Boulevard, and am so happy they're here and have survived the worst of the pandemic. There's a lot of great food to like here. Laotian cuisine is fun, and this is one of the only and by far the best options that I've had in KC. The pork curry is excellent. I've been spending a lot of time cooking over the past couple years. That dish is a reminder of just how darn far I have to go- it's so good! Great balance. Also really enjoy the brunch options. I think it was a breakfast sandwich that was just vibrant with flavor. I hope that's still on the menu, I want you to have that in your life. Like don't get me wrong, I appreciate the rich simplicity of a basic sausage and egg breakfast, but what if you layered in a carrot slaw with cilantro and some kind of world-opening sauce that hits some of the best neuroreceptors in your brain on a molecular level? It's a neat trick, I want to learn how to do that. In the many times we've been, not everything has always completely dazzled us... sometimes it's only been good instead of amazing. But the food is consistently good- and often much, much more. Service is great. Chef is wonderful- sharp and professional, while also kind and inviting. Recommend giving them a couple tries - there's a lot of great options to choose from."

(No relationship, but the owner, Joseph, did work for the old RDH owners as a chef long ago) Soft opening this week, so I expect things may change in the next few weeks or months. I always start with Kung Bao (Kung Pao, Chicken with peanuts, etc.) at new Chinese-based restaurants and the offering here did not disappoint. Portion was good, plenty of chicken prepared well, good balance of vegetables vs meat. Gravy/sauce was basic, surprisingly not spicy at all (no peppers present) but still good, though not great. Rice was stickier than most basic offerings in a good way, and while the rice portion was smaller than most, I was offered more if desired. There's no lunch menu yet, so be prepared for an entree price. There are some Vietnamese offerings I plan to try in the future (Pho, Bun and others). Atmosphere is very clean and remodeled. Bathrooms on the same level and inside the restaurant itself. So far so good, and I plan to go back ... probably too much!"

Tom V. "Outstanding small Thai restaurant up at the Lenexa/Shawnee line serving up big flavor and fresh food! Whether you are staying in or getting your order to go, the food is made to your liking and everything I've had has been just right.I love Thai food and I almost always judge a spot's Pad Thai first. I figure that if the Pad Thai is a good, then most everything has a shot at greatness. Lanna's Pad Thai is right on target, blending all the right profiles with noodles and protein. We have ordered the Crab Rangoon, crispy wontons with a sweet heat sauce, the spring rolls, and more. Each dish is executed very well and is brimming with flavor. The spice level varies a bit, and medium, for me, usually is enough heat. Lanna Thai spices their food well, not overpowering (unless that's your thing), and the spice complements the dishes instead of dominating them. The Drunken Noodles are another hit, fresh & crispy veggies with the glass noodles in a savory & spicy sauce. Lanna is easy to find and the dining area is small but very well-appointed. Great service, LOTS of to-go activity, and pricing is very fair. The value probably outpaces the price as the food is really good and the flavors will have you back again."

We walked in and it's a pretty small place. You wouldn't get that from the website. They have two private rooms up front and then in the middle is the rest of the seating. We were seated immediately thanks to the reservation. It was packed in there so I'm glad we did that. For drinks, we both ordered Arnold Palmers. Wasn't in a drinking mood but they had a wide selection of alcohol including Saki. For appetizers, we ordered the Tempura Calamari and the Garlic Shrimp. Both were delicious! I've had Calamari fries before but never Tempura. So good. The sauce for the shrimp was very good. For meals, I ordered the Crazy Lobster Roll and the Rainbow Roll. My sister had the 5041 Roll and the Spicy Tempura Roll. . All the rolls were delicious I'm going to assume. I didn't try the 5041 Roll because it was Sashimi. Do we stand out or something?? So I asked.... He said it was bc they had been there for four years and we had never been in! That's impressive! The owner was super nice, bubbly guy and apparently very aware of his customers! We each had a spring roll and then split the spicy beef noodle soup. Everything came out fast and super hot. The spring rolls were only 99¢, but I will say they were pretty small. The soup was a huge piping hot bowl that was really great. The restaurant was small, but we didn't have any trouble finding a seat. The only thing I'd ding them for was the lid of the fish sauce was dirty. That's one of those things that bothers me. It's just that little extra attention to cleanliness that I appreciate."
