Alicia K. "I would not recommend taking a class here. It's a high price for very little opportunity to create. The couple of classes I did take started late, ended early, and involved a lot of listening to the instructor talk about her personal issues. And anytime I called with an inquiry, I received a response days later or no response at all (in fact, still waiting on one from last year)!I have since found a much nicer studio in Crossroads that offers a friendlier, more creative vibe and there are also classes with KCCC which would be a better bargain with more invested instructors. Don't waste your time - go elsewhere!"

Madison G. "Lovely shop that is very large with a ton of pottery items to choose from!! They had a school fundraiser and walk-ins on the big side and had us in a separate little room. Their website also has fun events like sip 'n dip and teen night. This ginger bread house costed about $55 (paint, clay item, kiln firing and brushes/etc all included) and took me about 1.5 hours to paint. It was one of the more expensive items but I thought it was worth it!! They had some small items that were just $5 too! Fun for kids or kids-at-heart!"

The guy working there acted like it was perfectly normal to not partake in the craft side of the business which put us at ease. I ordered The Original (Oreo). Now it wasn't exactly like the picture online but close enough for me and I enjoyed it all the same. I believe it's worth the $14 and you get to take home the cup. We intentionally didn't eat before we came and I'm so glad- it will fill you up. Slightly random place for a fun drink but I recommend it- great milkshake and you can check out everything else they offer while you're sipping without the pressure."

If you are looking for floral arrangements for celebrations or parties, Bramble & Stem should be the first place you check out! I went to this shop for the first time during the Annual Waldo Sip & Stroll and I now know exactly where to go when I need some flowers for an event or to simply spruce up my home. Did you know this spot offers hands-on floral workshops designed to help inspire and educate? This is a great idea for a family outing or celebration. Make sure to check out Bramble & Stem asap!"

This guided painting class is such a great idea for birthdays, girls night, family night, date night or with a friend. Everything was set up, paint, brushes, easel and smock just in case you or your neighbor get a little crazy with the paint. Staff are amazing and guide the group from start to finish with a little break in between. They do have specials, like buy one get one free deals running. Plenty of room, fun music play list, really amazing teacher and staff. Love the theme of Fall right now, it's like a Pinterest project that I actually do ok at. Looking forward to the next class:)"

Jennifer N. "My boyfriend took me here on Valentine's day for a couple's painting class. We arrived 15 minutes early and after confirming our reservation for the class, were instructed to grab some aprons and take a seat wherever we liked. They encourage you to bring drinks and snacks to enjoy while you're painting, but my boyfriend and I were so focused on painting that we didn't even go for the candy that they had laid out for Valentine's day.The paintings that we would be working on that night were already outlined by the staff beforehand so that we would have guidelines to work with. The instructor walked us through the process of creating the painting step by step and walked around the class offering help to those that needed it. (I would definitely recommend sitting closer to the front if you're going to be asking for a lot of help so that it's easier for her to get to you.) She was enthusiastic throughout the whole two hour long class, and encouraged everyone to get a picture with their work before they left.At the end, they offer glitter for you to add to your paintings, and let you blow dry it to make sure it's ready to take home. Overall, it was a really great experience, and I would definitely come back in the future!"

Samantha M. "Despite its name, Beadazzler Beads is a cool store. They used to be around the corner on Santa Fe, and I didn't know where they moved. So I was very pleased when I spotted them on 80th Street. The staff at Beadazzler Beads is very helpful. They'll answer questions if you want; they'll leave you alone to browse if you like. And browsing can take awhile, because they have a great selection of beads. Wood, metal, crystal, stone, cloisonne -- you name it, they probably have it -- as well as the clasps, wire, and other doodads you need to make cool one-of-a-kind jewelry. Let's put it this way. If this store doesn't get your creative juices flowing, you just don't have any."

Kansas City Young Audiences

Kansas City Young Audiences

Julia F. "I was directed to Kansas City Young Audiences as an option for a ballet class for my twin toddlers. I am so happy that we followed through! My two-and-a-half year-old daughters enthusiastically participated in the Parent-and-Me Dance Class on Saturday mornings, and we loved it! Our class met once a week on Saturday mornings from 0930-1010. The length of class was perfect, because toddlers are not known for their discipline or patience. The formula of class, starting with stretches and practicing basic ballet skills, was key. This was a wonderful class. It focuses on the basics and techniques of dance rather than being a silly class that is a mere excuse to dress toddlers in tutus and tiaras. My daughters merrily spent their Saturday mornings with aspirations of being ballet dancers, not entertaining fantasies of fairy princesses (not that there is anything inherently wrong with fairy princesses; that is simply not what we signed up to do). The Parent-and-Me Class is for dancers within the age range of two to four years. My daughters were two-and-a-quarter at the beginning of the term. At the first class, my fear was that I had made a horrible mistake è rolling children that were too young. But they were eager. And what children lack in precision they make up for in enthusiasm. By the third class, they were not only picking up on the directions and techniques but they were eagerly practicing ballet at home! They love to do their relevé walk and their coupé passé and "run run run grand jetté"! Miss Katie is a wonderful teacher. She is kind but firm about expectations, and even very small children of merely two can learn ballet from her. In fact, I feel like my daughters learned more about following directions from this class than I would ever have been able to reach them at home. They want to please her, and so they follow her directions and they learn. I am eager to sign my daughters up for the next session. At this age, it is impossible to know if they will develop the love and talent for ballet to continue on with it, but for now they are having fun. It is my job to support that and encourage a love of the performing arts in this embryonic stage. And the movement skills from dance are such that they will benefit physically, even if they never grow to become ballerinas."

Megan R. "Such a fun date night idea. My boyfriend and I went the night before the Chiefs home opener and we painted Arrowhead stadium. It was a small class so it felt personable and the artist walked us through each step. She would even offer to help if we needed correcting. This place is not a BYOB but there is a pretty full bar with decent prices. You can bring your own snacks but there are pretzels and candies to munch on. I enjoyed this and so did my boyfriend, I saw a side of him I never knew! I highly recommend this.My only complaint was the class went about 20 minutes over. The breaks could have been shorter as the class was so small."

The space is beautiful, bright, and will inspire you creatively. You don't have to be having a "party" to paint here. Their studio is open on Thursday nights for individual reservations too. They're starting to add more painting options and I believe if you're reserving a group, you can send them an example of a painting you want them to lead.Love that you can bring in your own food and drinks!"

Perfect size square for your first time or just wanting to do something fun and not do so much. Of course it's more if you want to do a bigger size. Think there are maybe 5 sizes to choose from. Rhonda S. "I love Pinot's Palette! Thanks Matt E for introducing them to me at an earlier elite event. I returned for a class given by Cayla and Carla. The painting was "Birds on a Wire."I loved the painting when I saw it on their website, so it's the one I chose to paint. The class size was about 15. One group was a wedding shower, one group was 3 friends. I came alone. Easels are set up at stations, prenamed (with chalk), and the paint was premeasured on a paperplate. There were 3 brushes, and a glass of water. The instructor was cheery, knowledgeable and helpful. They gave us plenty of time to paint the design, providing skills that are useful for other painting. I loved the experience of the class room, skills and the end result. The staff is fantastic. There is wine to purchase, some bought their own. (note to self, bring snacks next time). I'll keep an eye out for other paintings I want to paint. What a cool placem great instruction. awesome music (I painted the sunset while Sublime sang in the background, "I don't cry when my dog runs away." almost to a sing along with the class participants. They have frames for $35. I just really love the entire class, facility, easy parking, beautiful area."

Back Door Pottery

Back Door Pottery

Ralphie S. "It's really hard to define Back Door Pottery. It was stop #4 for me on an Arts Crawl for the Historic North East neighborhoods, and what a great experience! Owner Rebecca Koop is the perfect host and tour guide through her magical land of art, nature, education, commerce, conservation and most importantly community. The pottery for sale is amazing and the prices are right in line. Most pieces for sale are both functional and beautiful. There are also classes available to learn the art of ceramics. While this would define most pottery businesses, Back Door's magical element actually lies outside the building. As you approach the building make sure that you take a close look at the front façade; it may look like a intricate paint job but it is actually a ceramic tile mosaic that was 15 years in planning and 2+ years of installation. It is truly mind boggling to see it up close and discover the details and hidden creations in the 450 square feet of art. After you are awed by the tile work, step to the west side of the building and observe the mural that wraps itself around the the side to connect to the mosaic - fascinating in it's own right. The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood garden is also on the property and is fascinating to explore with the garden beds, small orchard, water retention systems and folk art all condensed on to a large city lot. Back Door Pottery is just one more hidden jewel that makes Kansas City a true arts mecca!"

You walk out with a personalized sign that looks like you bought it from Etsy for a lot more than you paid, and no shipping charge. If you're not creative, don't worry. The Wine and Paint requires some creative or artistic talent, and then you have nothing to do with the canvas you bring home because let's face it, it's amateur even if you're good. This is different - you come home with a permanent decor piece or a holiday decor item added.$65 for these signs is a good deal! And it's a fun night out.Honestly, the fumes are a lot. But they have fans and can open the door, just need to ask. I'll be asking next time."
