Scott T. "One of the great retail stores in the city, worthy of making a destination from Kansas City, Topeka and beyond I'd say. And while a visit in person is a real must that's not to be missed, most are surprised to learn they ship products all over the U.S.In addition to Birkenstocks, which is what put them on the map, they also deal in Dansko, Haflinger and Chaco products. I brought a new family member from Canada in for his first pair of "Birks" and he was utterly thrilled with the experience. In spite of being told there'd be a break-in period, he barely was seen without them before heading back home. And yes, he wore them on the plane. As a long-time but infrequent customer because their products last, always happy to spread the word about the good work doing here."

Candice S. "I almost didn't come in here at all because of the astounding number of negative reviews. I haven't been to a Plato's closet specifically before, but I am very familiar with high end thrift shops. When I went in, I was promptly greeted. I was able to navigate the store easily. There were a few items that I wanted to try on, but a line was forming at the dressing rooms and after waiting a while it didn't seem like it would ever move. I looked up Plato's return policy on line and decided that it would be worth it to just drive back and return if needed as this location is very close to me. When I was checking out, the cashier helped me sign up for their rewards program and let me know that since it was Tuesday I was earning double points. I will definitely come back. I'm sorry to hear about all of the other experiences people have had here."

Cristi C. "I thought the outlet was really nice. There is plenty of room to mosey around and they had spectacular deals and plenty of merchandise dispute the enormous amount of people that showed up. There were 4 cashiers and the poor girls were working so hard. I saw one of them say "I have to go to the restroom I'm really sorry" to a customer. They were definitely short staffed. I think they should try to get some other hand held registers to help with the massive amount of people. It took 2 hours just to get in and another hour in line. The AC was pumping in there. I was coldddd. Better than being hot and sweaty while you're waiting though. The employees were perhaps the most notably great thing about this store. They were awesome!!! They were running around like crazy people trying to keep the store tidy and checking in the back for items and were enthusiastic about it. Good for them! A++ for the staff."

Dawn C. "If you like high quality 2nd hand clothes shopping this place will knock your socks off. It's HUGE. It's very well organized (by item and then by size). You'll find mostly name brand items (some new with tags) in all categories except swimwear and intimates. Browsed a little and seems to be geared towards classier things I would wear to work and then fancy casual stuff you'd wear on a cruise or to brunch to meet your potential in laws. For example sheath dresses for $15. (It isn't a thrift shop atmosphere, this isn't a flip flops and neon t-shirts place.)Happy to report they have a good selection of plus sizes too (up to 6x). That's pretty rare. I brought in a few items to sell and liked the easy process. They ask for your phone number and then text you the form to fill out to become a seller. Then you can see where you are in the process (waiting, sorting, offer ready). You can drop stuff off and not have to wait around for the offer because they text you when it is ready.Right now they are only buying as they stock the store. They plan to be open for shoppers by the end of June."

Adam S. "There's some well-chosen, fun if not overly familiar KC stuff at Made In KC. If you're wanting a city-centric gift, you're almost guaranteed to find something ranging between $5-$50. I like what this is all about but I'd be lying if I didn't say I have a little bit of KC pride fatigue, and that's coming from someone who is all in on this city and loves it. It's just that there are a million and one iterations of the same designs, t-shirts, stickers, posters, etc. Fountains, BBQ, Scout Statue, Royals/Chiefs themed, skyline, rinse and repeat. However at the end of the day, it's nice to have people repping KC with pride and supporting local makers who design and manufacture these things here in our backyard. I'd recommend popping in a Made In KC to see if it's for you, and outside of maybe Westside Storey or Charlie Hustle, you won't find more KC stuff than you would here."

Jess J. "So, I'm a little bit artsy fartsy and bohemian in my tastes, but trying to shop that way in a suburban locale sometimes dead-ends one at Pier 1/World Market, or at community craft fairs that are heavy on the Longaberger baskets, plastic canvas and yarn creations, and dreamcatchers. Which is fine, unless you want something that's really fairly unusual. This is where Blue Heron Designs comes in. Big fan of this shop...unusual jewelry, accessories, and gifts, an artsy vibe...walks the fine line of being charmingly crunchy-granola-yay-fair-trade-folk-art-and-cutesy-recycled-materials-crafts without embracing a full-on, unwashed-proprietors-and-grimy-patchouli-reeking-headshop-in-a-college-town vibe. Very unique merchandise from all over the world, classy but not obnoxiously overpriced, and the service is very nice and helpful. Got my mom a sterling silver pendant with a real iridescent butterfly wing encased in glass (made by indigenous Peruvian butterfly farmers, natch), and presented it to her for Christmas. The woman wept, and I know she doesn't have anything like this already kicking around her jewelry box. They also, in warmer months, always keep a bowl of clean water out front for pooches, which I love...both as a frequent dogwalker in the vicinity, and also because such touches are just good stewardship in a community that prides itself on having a walkable downtown. Props to Blue Heron...charming shop!"

Kelsey C. "They have a great selection here, especially since they use the hodgepodge approach of combining local designers with more well known brands. I always like to look for things that are local, because I feel like they are more unique and not as cookie-cutter as national brands may be. But, with uniqueness, also comes a somewhat high price tag. They do have some affordable items, but many of their sweaters are around $100 and their dresses are usually around $60. The jewelry also ranges from about $20-$60, depending on the piece. However, the clothing and jewelry are high-quality, so you will be getting a lot of use out of them. They also have purses, but many of them were hanging on the wall and I couldn't see the prices since I'm so short. :( Overall, the vibe is very hippie/bohemian, with some tye-dyed items, bright colors and patterns, and stripes."

Barbara S. "I've been to most of the Plato's Closets in the metro area and this one by far had the most selection and was the neatest. Plato's closet is known for having slightly upscale, trendier (more expensive) second hand clothes for juniors. I usually go looking for something specific that I want but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for. On the day i ventured into this plato's closet, I was looking for running shoes and a jacket. I didn't find a good jacket but I did find some barely used North Face running shoes for $25. I was there before attending a concert so I didn't have loads of time and I wish I could've spent more time there. The selection was definitely superior to what I'm used to with this chain. It's probably the southern Johnson County location. It's a bit of a drive from where I live but I'm sure I'll be back many more times!"

Revive

Revive

★★★★☆ 3.5 (17) • $$

Lauren P. "Listen-I was born and raised in Austin, Texas so I know consignment shops to a "T". After moving to Kansas City I quickly scoured the town for the best in the area-and headed off to several in both Westport and Overland Park that Yelp claimed were some of the best in town. This shop, however, is BY FAR heads and shoulders above the rest. When you walk into this store everything about it screams upscale, chic, modern-yet-vintage boutique. The decor is perfection (and something I always promise I will try to craft for my own home) and the window displays are perfectly styled to give you an idea of the season's trends and the store's offerings. The owners/staff are also the most welcoming, friendly bunch I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. (I can tell you I've walked into Ditto and Clothz Minded several times and never once been told "Hi" or treated like a valued customer. ) And if the initial greeting doesn't sell you-try plucking something off the rack and wait to see how long it takes one of the owners or staff to offer to place your items in a fitting room for you a-la-Free People and other high end boutiques. THAT'S customer service, my friends. As far as some of these negative reviews go-I'd like to remind everyone that one of the most important parts of owning a store like this is knowing your buyer. They can't buy everything you want to sell them-they'd hemorrhage money like crazy if they purchased everything people bring in. If the put forth the money for purchase-they need to know the item is going to have a buyer. I know it's hard to walk into a store, hopeful that you will receive a ton of money for items you no longer want. But unfortunately if you no longer want them you have to realize there's a good chance that others won't either. And it's Revive's job to make that tough decision so when I - as their buyer - go there looking for new fashion finds I'm not slapped in the face with ten year old GAP pieces that were on trend in 2009 or a plethora of forever 21, american eagle and other teeny bopper brands that have no place being in the wardrobe of anyone over 15 (I'm looking at you Ditto. *glare*)And this is why I can't say enough great things about this store. ALL of the clothing I've purchased has been on trend, in perfect condition (sometimes NWT) and sold at MUCH better prices than online retailers or other local consignment stores. I've walked out with Free People and Marc Jacobs for under $10. I've purchased a $1000 limited edition AUTHENTIC Coach bag from them for $350 after discounts. And EVERY time I visit I purchase at least one jewelry item that the owner has specifically purchased a gold and silver version of to sell in the store (if the silver version is out-I've probably gotten there before you. :D) And that says a LOT about this store and the owner's understanding of the fashion industry. As a buyer I feel like this store was MADE for me. Do I like everything they have on the racks? No. Do I walk in every time thinking "Ugh, this is my favorite store and I'm about to do some damage?" Yes.Do yourself a favor and give this shop a try. Don't let the negative reviews fool you-this place is a gem that'd I'd completely miss if I ever left KC. * And in response to the lone review about the replica bag-do homework before ever purchasing something from a brand like Louis Vuitton or Coach that is known to be easily counterfeited. If you are ever unsure and authenticity is of great concern to you-I'd recommend checking out readily available online guides to assist you in your purchase. Revive's owners are human-good fakes happen to the best of us."

Ed L. "I needed new shoes. Just so happens that packet pick up for the 2019 Gobbler Grind half marathon was held at this Gary Gribble running store in Overland Park, KS as well. I like it.I was told that Gary Gribble Running Store is one of the better specialty running stores in the greater Kansas City area. And so, it was nice to do a 2 for one stop shop here and picked up a pair of new running shoes to kick off the new year of racing and running. Gary Gribble Running store seemed to be like any other running store from the outset, but the knowledge of the staff here of running and shoe mechanics can help you get into your best shoes and give you that confidence to start yourself on a healthy path to fitness or racing. Most of their inventory are running shoes, but they sell other running related items, such as clothing, running accessories, and items that are need during a running event- like GU and body glide, among other items. Gary Gribble Running Sports can be your next stop for running shoes, if you're in the Overland Park, Kansas area. For myself though, I actually stumbled upon a sale and got those aforementioned shoes at a 20% discount, which was amazing!! I had a 10% discount coupon for the yelp check in but couldn't combine it with my existing purchase. Oh well. Next time, I guess. The store itself was arranged neatly and you could find what you're looking for.I did enjoy the knowledgeable staff about shoes that I forgot about. They explained to me about running situations and issues that I've known for a while, but it's nice to get a refresher once in a while. They're the bestest! The overall experience here at Gary Gribble Running Sports was good, positive, and nice. It's always great to be in a running shoe store, probably because I run marathons and stuff like that. It's always nice to transition into new shoes for the next 500 miles of running. With that said, this Gary Gribble Running Sports store is located in the Ward Parkway shopping center in the heart of Overland Park, KS. It's address is 8600 Ward Parkway. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash for any purchase. Since they are inside the shopping mall, there is genuinely plenty of parking for you all to park. Not sure if Kansas City's public transportation comes through this area or not, but best bet would be to have your own rental car or have uber / lyft app on your phone for quick and easy access for on demand rides. For the most part though, I was satisfied with my purchase and got a 20% discount too. It was around the price range I was looking for - after the discount. If you are looking to start a fitness program for your health, starting that couch to 5km program, or even half marathon or marathon training, consider coming to the Gary Gribble running sports here in Overland Park to discuss your running goals and they can get you into that comfortable training shoes to get you started on the path to a healthy and inspirational success. The service was friendly and nice. I could see myself coming back here for more shoes, if my travels permit me to do so. For the most part though, the experience here was memorable and I was happy with my purchase, especially with my friends whom were also trying to get new shoes as well that day. I would recommend coming here for your next pair of running shoes. If you don't know what you need, ask the knowledgeable staff of your goals and they can fit you into that pair of shoes that is designed to take you where you want to go. I enjoyed my time here on a Saturday afternoon here and hope you will too. It's like being a kid in the candy store for me. Truly is.4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the 20% discount. 4.0 stars for the service and the experience.Support local!B"
