Burton's Bait & Tackle

Stopped in to get a few things and some advice before getting to the lake. I am new to the area and was really impressed with how helpful the guy working here was. He had a good selection that was not overpriced, and he gave me a map after showing me some good spots.

In town for a family trip and stopped in to get info about fishing in Smithville Lake. The gentleman pulled out a map of the lake and talked me through each fishing area he had personally been through. I told him where I wanted to fish and what I wanted to fish for and he outfitted me with exactly what I needed. He was kind to my kids, helpful to me, and I would dare say THE go to person for help or info on fishing at the lake.

I've been going to the Smithville lake since I was a kid. I love fishing and everytime we go fishing we always go to this bait shop. They have everything you need from all the fishing accessories to licenses and live baits. The store is kind of small and it's packed with fishing supplies. They prices are descent and you can get your fishing license from there. The customer service is excellent. They are really friendly and nice. This is the only bait shop I know that is close to the lake and really happy with the location.

My son and I did a fishing guide this last week. I would give 100 stars if I could. The owner left a life long impression with my son and I. He was so knowledgeable and really took interest in my son. We spent over four hours on the boat that felt like 30 minutes because we were having so much fun. Caught a ton of fish and he cleaned them up for us. Great eating!!!! My son on the way home was ready to book the next outing. If you are looking for an incredible experience with an incredible guide book this now!!!

Gary was our fishing guide at the lake today. He was patient with the kids, pleasant to be with and really seemed to enjoy his work. My kids are four and six. Five stars!The bait shop (owned by Gary) is just like you'd expect. They have everything you need including fishing licenses.
