Burgher Haus

Amazing lunch buffet and worth the drive. Cozy and homestyle cooking done right. Drove out to check this out and will be back. Worth the 20 minute drive!

When Mike owned and operated Burgher Haus for many decades, they stayed open later and opened earlier. The service was personal and friendly. I went to Burgher Haus a few weeks after his son took over the and the food was more expensive, the servings were smaller, and the quality was just not very good. The 'new' owners remodeled the restaurant, but lessened the hours they were open. I live in Jefferson City and drive to California to eat at Burgher Haus. the last two times I drove over there (about 18 miles), they were closed. Once was a Saturday at about 6:00 p.m. and the other time was a Sunday about 1:30 p.m. I checked the doors and windows for hours charts and notifications of why they were closed. I found the list of Business Hours but no reason for them being closed during business hours. The next time I got ready to go (a Saturday about 2:00 p.m.), i wised up and called first. Unfortunately, after 16 rings, no one answered. I tried another 10 or 12 times over the next hour and, since no one answered, I gave up. I did call again about 6:30 p.m. and after about eight rings, a male answered the phone by saying, "Burgher Haus...what do you need?" I was surprised by the answer, so I said, "Hello?" and the guy said, "Calk back when you know what you want!" and hung up. I haven't been back since then and am not sure I will go back. Out of curiosity, I just called and asked about the business hours for this weekend. They did answer(!!!) and I was told they close at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and he THINKS they close at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday but he wasn't sure. He works there but doesn't know their hours of operation! Sighhh

The first time I ate here I was REALLY impressed! I am a fan of patty melts but the 2nd time I ate one from here I was really disappointed. There was a VERY tangy sauce on my patty melt that made it not taste like a patty melt at all. The staff was a younger crowd so maybe that was the problem ‍ If I do go back, it will be earlier in the day.

The food here is fantastic but I would like to go one day they have the buffet. The service was Fantastic they kept our glasses full and kept checking on us. Its close to home that's what I really like that. The atmosphere is alright but if you don't like smoking it's in the front they have a larger nonsmoking area in the rear or should I say on the side.

Ordered a ribeye sandwich. Got 2 pieces of meat and 1 was all fat. Very disappointed.

Used to be great quality food and consistent hours under previous owner when we'd drive through California, but son has taken over and $$ appears to be the driving force now. Food quality has deteriorated the two times they were open and son must not be paying employees very well because this place has been closed during the day several times recently when we went through town with signs saying they have staffing issues.

My wife and I had the buffet after reading a review. My first bite into the catfish I knew there was something wrong. I thought I licked an ashtray. I put it down and took a bite of the chicken. Same ash taste. I looked at my wife as she pushed her plate away. I looked around as others chomped away. The mash potatoes were not good either. We settled for salads and hit the road. It took a while to get the taste out of my mouth. I was so disappointed and hungry. Maybe if was just that day, but I had to write something. Sorry Burgher Haus.

Disgusting kitchen and bland food so gross long lines to wait and the drive through is a joke.

was sad after husband and I got the buffet. chicken wasn't salted and more breading than chicken. ALWAYS save room for soft serve ice cream...waaay disappointed (apparently they changed vendors); more like shaved ice with a single drop of vanilla flavoring. I've told so many people to visit this restaurant but that has stopped. so very different from previous owners!

Great food , friendly staff, and so many options to pick from . The bread pudding is delicious.
