Broken Rice Restaurant in Gladstone, Missouri, is a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly service that adds to the overall experience. The restaurant's specialty is their "Com Tam," or broken rice, which is a traditional Vietnamese dish made from rice fragments, transformed into a delicious, comforting meal. The broken rice plates are served with a variety of proteins, including grilled pork, chicken, and beef, each one cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. If you're in the mood for something else, their banh mi sandwiches, pho, and fresh spring rolls are equally satisfying, with a balance of fresh ingredients and bold flavors. One of the standout features of Broken Rice is their attention to detail and authenticity. The dishes taste just like what you'd find on the streets of Vietnam, and the vegetarian options make it accessible to everyone. Whether you're a fan of traditional Vietnamese street food or looking to try something new, there's something for everyone here. The owner, Emma, is known for her friendly demeanor and is always on hand to ensure that customers have a great experience. With excellent food, a cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service, Broken Rice is a hidden gem in Gladstone, perfect for a casual meal or a special outing. Highly recommend!

I came here with the intention of trying their banh mi. As someone who used to live in Dallas, where Vietnamese food was plentiful, and as a Vietnamese person myself, my standards are pretty high when it comes to banh mi. Sadly, I'd say that the banh mi I received fell below my expectations. Not that it tasted bad - it actually tasted pretty good. My critique is that for the price, it was criminally small. For almost eight dollars, I expected a larger loaf (based on other Vietnamese restaurants I've visited in the past). Maybe it's inflation, but sadly, the days of $4 banh mi seem to be over, at least in KC. Secondly, the bread itself didn't seem quite right. When I eat a banh mi, I expect the bread to be airy, fluffy, soft on the interior, with a flaky, crackly crust exterior that crunches when you've bit into it. There's even a joke that when you eat banh mi, the roof of your mouth should feel like it's been scraped by the bread, and the amount of bread crumbs you drop because of the flaky/crackly crust should be noticeable. This bread felt less like a traditional Vietnamese style loaf, and more like a French baguette - the difference should not be missed! As for the fillings, that was fine - good amount of meat, and comes with the expected cilantro, cucumber, jalapenos, pate, and pickled daikon and carrots.I'm raising my review to 4 stars because of the pictures of the other dishes at this restaurant. It does look like the variety offered is decent, and everything looks well made and authentic. If I came back, I'd be willing to try the other dishes offered. In terms of take out service, not too bad. I think I waited 10-15 minutes for my banh mi. There's also plenty of seating inside if you choose to dine in.

I have high standards when it comes to finding a restaurant that offers both exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere. Broken Rice hits the mark perfectly on both fronts! From the moment you walk in, the warm, modern décor and friendly staff set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.I ordered the Bún Bò Huế and the flavors were beyond my expectations--rich, aromatic broth with tender slices of beef, the perfect amount of heat, and a medley of fresh herbs and noodles. The broth had that deep complexity you can only get from hours of simmering. My friend tried the Broken Rice Platter, and every bite was a testament to the chef's skill. The crispy pork was perfectly caramelized, and the eggrolls had a satisfying crunch. The portions are generous, the ingredients fresh, and everything on the menu feels thoughtfully crafted. The service was spot on--attentive without being overbearing. They truly make you feel like family here.Broken Rice is a must-try if you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine or just looking to explore new flavors. I'll definitely be back for more!

Grabbed dinner with friends on a Monday night. It was pretty empty, and we were seated immediately. My husband and I shared a short rib broken rice platter and the sliced pork bahn mi. The platter was just ok, but the bahn mi was incredible. The bread was fresh, the meat was well seasoned. If I went back, I'd stick with bahn mi! Service was kind.

I always have such a good experience here and always inhale the food too quickly and forget to post. Luckily, I was able to get some pictures of our delicious entrees this time! I love that Broken Rice has an amazing selection of Vietnamese street food. I got the sliced grilled pork combination with all the delicious fixin's . Definitely a deluxe broken rice dish! My sister got the roasted duck special and let me try a bit. It was so flavorful. The beautiful, fresh veggies on it were added freshness that brightened up the dish. Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere is good for family dining. Casual and fun. You can be alone or with a group. I can't wait to go back and try a few different dishes!

Delicious Food, Fun Atmosphere, Unique MenuWe Ordered and shared everything, that is definitely the way to get the best experience. The Banh Tieu ( stuffed doughnut ) is more like a Runza, delicious pork inside a savory bread. There is one, so it can be shared, but also enjoyed by oneself.Banh Mi is delicious! We ripped it in half and loved it.I ordered the combo woven vermicelli and the pork and shrimp were deliciousMy friend ordered the Spicy beef soup ( with blood jelly ). I tied the jelly and it was good, but way too spicy ( I'm a wimp )The Grilled Chicken with the Broken Rice was my second favorite ( the pork in the " doughnut " and with the vermicelli is #1 ).The TV's are set to random network broadcasts which are distracting... Food and service, 5 stars

Great broken rice! Best in town in my opinion. You'll find the authentic Vietnamese cuisine here and it's not lacking in any way! As a traditional person looking for their hometown foods, this place definitely is one of the first that comes to mind. Owner is very kind and welcoming as well!

Never disappointed when dining here, I pretty much get the sane things every time I dine in due to the food being so delicious! I come here so often everyone knows exactly what I'm going to order lol. I get the beef stew pho, and the short rib entree with a lavender lime aid. One of the best pho in Kansas City hands down. I've tried them all and they are all 10/10.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while! The restaurant has great seating. The staff are very nice and friendly. I tired their food for the first time today. They have pretty good Banh Mi - I think the grilled slide pork one is still my favorite! The soup noodle was great flavored but little bit salty. I wish they would have beef tendon as an option for the pho, otherwise it's pretty great! They have an interesting selection of the menu, one of them is the wooden plate noodle. I'd come back to try it for sure!
