I have been taking various classes from Barbara for several years. She's very good at being an instructional teacher of Yoga, Pilates and Feldenkrais. I've been to other venues where sometimes there is an approach of just barking posture names and I think that can be intimidating. I, for one, rarely remember the Sanskrit names of the asanas. I prefer Barbara's method of instruction and performing stretches to get the participant prepared for the goal posture.She's committed to the practice, improving her skills and always trying to get the students to try new and challenging activity.She offers 7-8 week course sessions but you can stop by for one class to sample the variations. Barbara Anderson has decades of experience both broad and wide in the variety of yogas and other body activities such as Tai chi and Pilates. She has an in-depth knowledge of the body and its processes that most yoga teachers don't possess including Feldenkrais understandings. All of this makes her teaching more useful and safe. In her classes she creates friendly non-judgmental community and an atmosphere of enjoyment. She is not a yoga teacher that takes herself too seriously, yet she knows how to incorporate changes that enhance bodily movement. I've tried other yoga, but her classes provide the relaxation, stretching and healthy movement awareness that show results in my everyday life.

Body and Soul has a wonderful, inviting atmosphere. There is no pressure or competition and everyone is encouraged to work at his or her own pace and comfort level. Although Barbara has a very disarming teaching style that puts everyone at ease, she has the skill and experience to guide all levels of students. I highly recommend Body and Soul to anyone interested in yoga!

I have been a student of Barbara's for fifteen plus years. I appreciate Barbara's extensive knowledge of anatomy. She always explains what part of the body benefits from a movement and why. We work on balance and core strength which is important to me. She makes the class fun while taking us through a solid workout. I highly recommend any of Barbara's classes.

I credit the wisdom and guidance of Barbara for my renewed connection to my body and my increased vitality at this point of my life, 70. I have been a student of her classes for almost 20 years and have overcome a variety of back issues, pain and inflexibility thru her insights, brilliant guidance and needed humor at times. I have recommended her to family and friends and have never had anyone who didnt benefit from her training whether they were 30 or 60. I dont know of anyone with more experience to guide the body and reconnect the brain with the body than Barbara. I highly recommend any of her classes which cover all kinds of time needs or her individual sessions for specific issues. You owe your body some time with her.
