Blue Springs 8 Movie Theater

If you haven't been here in 2013, you may want to come back...be prepared...the old theater is GONE! Total rehab. All new everything..popcorn machine, everything!New seats, ...everything. Great experience. Been there over a dozen times in the past few months.

It's hot. I have time to kill on my cross-country road trip. Why not see a movie?This wasn't far from where I was staying, so I popped in. I was quite impressed. Everything was super clean, staff were friendly, the quality of sound and seating were perfect. The bathroom was in great shape - no complaints there.It was a not so comedic movie so I ended up taking a wee nap and no one threw popcorn at me. WIN WIN.

I was surprisingly impressed with this Blue Springs theater. My boyfriend and I were in the area and dying to see Mockingjay. On a Friday night, there was no wait in the ticket line. The cashier lady was incredibly nice and the ticket/lobby area was spacious with lots of comfy chairs. We were satisfied with the snack prices/ combo deals and our large popcorn was buttered perfectly.The theater was packed to the brim, mostly with pre-teens. Naturally, this meant that they would be loud and giggly and obnoxious. Albeit annoying, we were impressed that the staff actually took the time to come into the theater (3 times) and told the kids to shut up or they would kick them out. We were pleased with this theater and loved the movie.

Not once, but twice did we show up for a movie that was not playing at the time listed online. I used Dealflix to buy my spouse tickets to see an 11am matinee on his birthday before catching a Royals game. We show up at 10:45 to a DEAD ZONE - parking lot is empty, inside is dark, doors are locked. We knock and knock... finally an employee opens the door in confusion. I show her the tickets that I paid for and she verified that the day and time are correct, but that they don't start showings until 3pm. She was ready to say goodbye when I had to insist that we get some kind of refund for not only the tickets, but also the soda and popcorn that were part of the promotional deal I HAD ALREDY PURCHASED. She begrudgingly hand-wrote a coupon. When we finally got around to redeeming said coupon, and went online to confirm movie times before showing up about 10 minutes early to a 7:00 showing. WHAT DO YOU KNOW? The internet had it WRONG AGAIN! Not only was there no 7pm showing of the movie we wanted, but that movie wouldn't play again until the next day. Frustrated, though wanting to get our money's worth, we opted for a 7:50 showing of a different movie. I know this theater just went through a renovation, and I commend them for that. However, the interior of the theater still feels like it's circa 1993. The screens are really small, the seats don't recline and are too far back to enable putting your legs up, and a gaping middle aisle ensures that no one has a good seat. Parking is also hard to come by, as the lot is small and shares space with other businesses.

I live in Independence, but opted out of our theater because they have those close packed seats with fabric covers. Nowadays you have to worry about head lice and bed bugs. So, went to Blue Springs 8. Great, comfortable vinyl seats with rows spaced far enough apart that you don't have someone's fanny in your face when they get out for refreshments. The gal's at the ticketing and refreshment area actually smiled and didn't act like the zombies working at the 20's. A big plus was the fact that it wasn't so loud that I was deaf for an hour after the show. Good job, Blue Springs 8!

We love this theater. Always clean, friendly service and overall great place to see a movie.

Been going to this movie theater for years and have never had a problem until now. Last time I went everything that could go bad did go bad. The movie speakers only came from the screen no surround sound. Ask for manager to check it out but the manager never came to check on it. Had to move closer to the screen to be able to hear the movie. Ordered popcorn chicken and fries to which it to over 15 minutes to cook and I noticed it was cooked in an air fryer and air fryers never get fries crispy or chicken cripsy. I also noticed they cooked both of them together and not separate. Received 6 pieces of soggy popcorn chicken and soggy crinkle fries even though the picture of the fries were of restaurant/fast food style fries and I hate crinkle fries. Throughout the movie 20 times people went in and out of the theater... not a problem but the door slams closed and makes a load sound disrupting the movie as the movie sound was so low. Popcorn was not fresh very chewy. Only 2 people working behind the counter when we arrived to purchase tickets and order food but only saw one person after that when I made my complaints. I was given EXPIRED (June 20) Ranch dipping sauce. To which the employee didn't even throw it way after knowing it was expired meaning she was okay with giving customers expired product. The temperature in the theater was 78 degrees and yes I carry a digital thermometer as I have a rare sinus problem when temperatures get above 76 degrees.

Great family owned theatre! Great customer service and very clean. They also have some great tasting specialty popcorn they make there.

If you want to spend $60 to take your child to a movie at 4:00 on a Wednesday, this is your place. Tickets are way more expensive than other theaters. Ordered a medium popcorn but they don't offer refills and when I asked if I could pay the difference between a large and medium for a medium refill, they refused and said I had to buy a second medium popcorn at full price. Staff was rude about everything and I will not be back. You're better off going to other theaters in the area. It's way more expensive to go to Blue Springs and they treat customers poorly.

Really like this cozy place. Nice seats and clean. Tickets prices not too bad. Good parking! Sound quality good as well. Good find. Will return.
