Black Belt Bar-B-Q

Came for lunch here after getting a few recommendations for it. I had the rib tips with wild veggie rice and roasted sweet corn. The ribs were dry and overcooked, but the seasoning was good as it still came out. The veggie rice was surprisingly good, but the best part was the roasted sweet corn. My friend ordered the brisket (which came as chopped brisket into a sandwich) and they also said it was overcooked, dry and a bit tough. Might have been a bad day but has potential

We recently had BBQ cater our event for company guests, and the food was phenomenal. We ordered a list of everything on their menu to make sure all of our guests had options, and we looked to feed roughly 12 people.The food was fantastic and when you're taking care of guests coming from outside of Kansas, they want to experience what metro BBQ is like. Black Belt really does a good job of it. Our ribs were fall-off-the bone juicy, the roasted corn was fantastic, the baked beans were exceptional. All of the guests commented on how good the food was and how it helped make the night memorable. They were able to get together a very large order on very short notice, as we let them know in the morning and they were ready for us that afternoon with a pickup, and the results simply could not be better.

Well the sweet roasted corn was good but it is ok to put it on the grill a little the rib ends tasted old they weee hard and inedible too way too Smokey

Went to Camp Leavenworth this evening and was looking forward to trying Black Belt Bar-B-B-Q. We are Kansas City born and bred and have eaten BBQ our whole lives(60+). These were not very good. They were dry and obviously old, we could not eat them. Had to dump them and get something else. It smelled great but those ribs were at least 2-3 days or a week old. Hoping this was just bad luck. Maybe try again.

The guy is very friendly and nice. You can smell the smoke in the parking lot so it was like you knew you were going to get some good bbq. The presentation of the food was great. I ordered the rib tips, and my husband had the ribs. It comes with one side, so we had baked beans. The ribs were okay but seemed it was missing something. It was the same with the baked beans. Those beans needed some more love. I think I will try again but I'll try his jerk chicken.

So far, this is the worst Bar-B-Que joint I have been to in KC. Had the brisket and the chicken. Both were dry and there was very little in the way of good smoke flavor. Not sure if the place is using wet wood or have their fires to hot, but it's definitely affecting their product. It's a poor sign when the establishment has to add the sauce before the customer asks for it. The chicken was also completely charred on the outside, like it had been in a grease fire.I had three sides: the baked beans, the coleslaw, and the rice with veggies. The coleslaw was at best, just below average. It was over sauced with Mayo and vinegar, and short on the cabbage and lettuce. The rice, also was short on the vegetables. Basically just brown rice with as few kernels of corn and peas that could be spared. Skip both if you do end up going.The only saving grace for this place was the baked beans. They are the reason that it's a two star rating and not a one star. They were full of flavor with just a hint of spice and heat. This I would have again.If you need baked beans as a side for your home cook, swing by and pick some up. Other than that, this place is definitely on my spots to avoid list.

First BBQ stop in the state of Kansas. Great joint. Good people. Food was great. Appreciate it!

We were driving by and noticed the food truck and a huge grill and smoker so we decided to try it. They sold us burnt chicken for $10. This was a terrible experience.

BBQ wasn't very good and I believe this place gave me food poisoning very sick, don't know for sure but I will not be back.

Foods not all that good. Is he he using sweet baby ray's sauce acting like it's his still?
