We stopped by the Bird Dog Bar while in Lawrence for the day. It's in a hotel (which is really cool (Oread), so it's not the easiest to park and enter. It's really close to campus, so it's hard to know where it's safe to park and not get towed. Didn't have any food, but the cocktails were good. Service was a little slow as there was only one server/bartender and some of the management team were distracting her with conversation/tasks (not her fault). Always focus on the customers first. Overall, it's a cute place and the hotel looks like a great place to stay.

Although only 3 stars I still have to recommend this bar and grill in the Oread Hotel. It's one of very few options in Lawrence Kansas open M/T/WAlso there is never a wait and I almost gave a 4th star for ambiance alone.Prices are okServing size okWe ordered a house salad with chicken and the kitchen made a mistake. Our server was great and in training very polite. The correction was made with no issue. The Cod is a generous portion- needed more of the sauce it came with (not tartar sauce) and a little dry. The house salad (sorry missed the picture opportunity) was delicious and the home made ranch is spot on.3* for now - going back to let them earn that 4th * because when I visit my daughter at KU our other options are closed and the hotel is beautiful.

Surprised on the low reviews but to each his/her own experience. We stayed at The Oread and this was our choice for room service food. If interested please read my view of the hotel itself. It's possible that maybe room service is better than actually dining here so I am basing it on my food experience. The food was amazing. My husband had The Jayhawker which he was so good. I loved their cheeseburger which was cooked as I wanted. I added avocado which I recommend. The order of fries are enough for two people unless you're crazy like me and can eat them all. We really loved the pretzels which came with both a yummy mustard and cheese dip. Overall we truly enjoyed our food and the gal who brought up our meal was so nice. They didn't miss any details of the order, like my ranch for my fries. It's the little things, folks.

Subpar for the price. The ambience is really great. But that's where it ends. Service is pretty indifferent and the food is worse. Ordered a simple breakfast that took twice as long as it should have. Rubbery eggs, undercooked bacon and dry pancakes. Had to repeatedly hunt down the waitress for coffee refills and cream and sugar. Honestly, any run-of-the-mill diner would do better.

Only tasted the chile con queso appetizer and had a Manhattan. They were both good. It seemed like this was the place to be for Sunday late afternoons---very crowded.

My party of 3 had lunch before the KU vs NCST game on 12/14/24. One of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time. The service was slow & inconsistent at best. When we complained about one of the salads with chicken that had frozen avocado, moldy cheese & a human hair on it, the waitress accepted our complaint like she was expecting it. What we didn't realize at the time the chicken on this & one other salad gave two of three of us FOOD POISONING. We got a credit for the salad we sent back & if I could give a negative star rating, I would. Lawrence has many other good options to go to, do yourself a favor and find them.

Having eaten at the Birddog before and enjoyed our visit we came back to celebrate and enjoy the Oread vibe. The food was okay but we left underwhelmed. The app wasn't served until the entrees arrived. A few of us ordered the salads and no two were the same. Some with avo some without. The plates were too small to keep the food from spilling onto the table. Two of our party who ate the pasta experienced digestive issues afterwards. The server was nice, nothing besides the app timing perhaps was his fault. Although he did add a 21% gratuity to our table of 7 which I don't feel was fully earned. We spent over $200 there and left feeling like we could have done better elsewhere.

Excellent, attentive wait staff. Clean dining area. Our table enjoyed a variety of offerings and the food was excellent. We are travelers from out of state however this was definitely a memorable dining experience.

We got to the hotel on the later side of the night and luckily the restaurant's kitchen was still open. I tried the Oread Burger which had Brie cheese and champagne soaked pears it's was delicious. We also tried BLT with smoked Turkey and it was stacked. I would recommend this restaurant

I ate there today June 7th and it was absolute TRASH! Don't waste your time or money! The wings were so dry like they were cooked a week ago and warmed up in a microwave. The pulled pork was extra smoky and extra sweet gross. Even the salsa was complete trash.
