Big Dude's Music City

We stopped in to Big Dude's on the way to a concert in Kansas City. They have an excellent selection of guitars, basses, drums, and pro audio equipment. We had an excellent conversation with one of the employees who gave us some great insight about the musician's market in Kansas City and some helpful tips in running our shop in Omaha. We will certainly come back any time we are in KC.

I just wanted to comment on the text message communication through your website. I used it and it is great. The store associate got back to me quickly and answered my question. They were able to locate an item for me and put it on hold behind the register. Great overall experience.

While waiting for an event across the street I decided to check out Big Dude's Music. The selection is huge. As a beginner guitar player, I was quite impressed with all the options screaming 'buy me'. While the guitar collection is impressive, they have plenty of other things to appeal to all musicians. This is a store worth checking out if you are serious about music and not just wanting sheet music to make the next great craft from Pinterest. The employees are great. Very friendly, very well informed, and just awesome all around. I will be back when my guitar playing abilities justify buying a kick ass guitar. Heck, I will probably be back long before that time just to further explore everything they have to offer.

I love this store!! Been coming for 20 years. John White does all my repairs and Doug is the man to help you with gear purchases. Highly recommended. Gotta love a non-corporate music store.

Came in during regular business hours on a Friday, nobody in the store at all, still got pressured to leave after playing for maybe 10 minutes. Staff says theres a "5 minute jam limit" for all customers, goes on to tell me that "times are tough for small businesses especially local ones." If times are tough and youre not selling guitars then maybe let you customers play them for more than 5 f*cking minutes?? Wonder why sales are low... I sh*t you not I overheard the shop owner recommend a possible customer to guitar center Heresy to use a pick in this shop apparently, also had to beg to get an amp plugged in. Would not recommend bringing business here, I honestly don't think these guys want to sell either

Last time (Oct. 2022) I stopped in there they wanted to charge me rental fees to test out some bass guitars in their store!!! Never again :-(By comparison, the "big box" music stores, Overland Park and North KC, bent over backwards to help me out.

After running into several dead ends on the search to purchase a microphone last minute for an event, we found Big Dudes on Yelp. Extremely disappointed that the store associate at Big Dudes not only allowed us to purchase a $300 microphone without any assistance on which additional equipment we would need in order to actually use the microphone given that we needed to use it immediately.But when we weren't able to use it and went to return it the next day because we did not get a chance to even use the thing, after purchasing the wrong cord, TWICE, due to the lack of customer service. They would not take the return because it was missing additional packaging. What a shame, and what poor customer service. It's reasons like this that everything is moving to online purchasing if you're going to have this type of experience when going into a "professional music store". Next time I'll buy on Amazon.

This is my new favorite music shop. Larry, in particular, is super helpful and knowledgeable. They have a good selection of products across brands and price points, including a great value brand in Tagima guitars. I really appreciated the time Larry spent working with me both in the store and via email. As a beginner, I found the environment less intimidating than Guitar Center. I also had a much better experience with guitar repair/service here than at Guitar Center - pricing is way better, they didn't push me to upgrade things I thought I might need, and they identified issues that previous service from Guitar Center didn't resolve.
