Beckett's would do well in any large city so it's surprising to find this gem in a fairly remote Missouri River town of 1,100 people accessible only by 2-lane state and county rural roads. Its old time brick and wood exterior is architecturally interesting and flawless as is the interior with its beautiful pressed tin high ceiling, polished dark wood floors and perfect furnishings. The huge stainless steel hood over the grill behind the bar adds to simple/sophisticated feel. This is a restaurant review so I guess I should mention the food and wait staff. My arrival was immediately acknowledged and I was directed to a table. My waitress took my drink order a minute or two later and my Blue Moon beer arrived with an orange slice so fresh that the orange could have have just been picked and sliced. The menu is reasonably extensive and includes local and California wines. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner which came with two sides and Texas toast ... I chose salad and a baked potato. The salad was generous and included multiple varieties of fresh lettuce - it was perfect and a great start. The grilled chicken was very nice - juicy with a slightly crisp exterior. Toppings for the baked potato (sour cream and butter) were served on the side as was the salad dressing.I rarely have dessert but I made an exception since dinner had been so pleasant and I wanted to linger. Carrot cake and coffee were the perfect ending.I see that I used the word "perfect" maybe too many times in this review. But similar to what another reviewer said, if I could have my own restaurant, Beckett's would be the one. Beckett's requires quite a detour from my normal faster route to visit family but I'll be back there soon.

Big dinner tonight with a big wedding party before the wedding. Drive almost an hour to get to this place. I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare. It came out well fucking done. I told the waitress. She says it's a busy night and we have a big group. That a lot of us ordered steak and that the kitchen tried. No one offered to make it right. The waitress asked if I wanted a box for my steak. Seriously nice ambience but the steak. Ugh. I'm waiting to see if they at least take it off the bill. The well done, thin as applebees steak was not taken off the bill.

When you find yourself in a small town like Glasgow, MO, you hope for meals and friendly faces like you find at Beckett's.We were immediately greeted with smiles by the staff, who seemed accustomed to their usual customers. The owner herself served us and was a true breath of fresh air. She was laughing, smiling, and promised we'd be taken care of. We were.I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fresh cut french fries. My fellow diner ordered the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich at the suggestion of the owner. Both meals were cooked quickly and to our liking. They arrived at our table quickly and were both fresh from the grill and cook top. The burger tasted fresh. The ground beef was clearly not frozen and was of high quality. The fries were also fresh and were natural and nearly perfect without an abundance of salt. My buddy said his breaded tenderloin sandwich was on the money, too.I generally am not a "dessert at lunch" kind of guy, but the sight of the homemade key lime pie was too much to resist. Thankfully I didn't resist, as this was some of the best pie I've had, and I've spent a LOT of time in Florida. If you pass on the key lime, you should commit yourself and have your sanity tested.Beckett's is a great place with great prices and great service. I'll be heading back today!

If you want to experience a restaurant where the owner has total pride in the atmosphere, wait staff and food then Beckett's is your kind of place. The only downside is that the bar offerings aren't extensive, but that is it. The food is wonderful, with a true local flavor as the fresh meats and vegetables are as local as can be. The cook can be found at the open grill behind the bar cooking the burgers, chicken and pork. The burgers are hand weighed and made and if your into fries you can watch them cut the potato and put them in the fryer. They use their own marinade for grilled chicken. The owner, Nicki, can be found waiting tables, refilling iced tea and coffee and behind the grill at times. And how better can it be to have her mother make the strawberry and carrot cakes for desert! I'm a but biased because my wife and I eat there regularly, but its as fine a local place as can be. Nicki renovated it a year or so ago and first timers will be pleasantly surprised at how well-appointed it is. The menu is good, food is fresh and great and the staff are as friendly as you'll find. It's obvious they all love working there. My last piece of advice is to call ahead for dinner reservations on Friday or Saturday. The locals love this place and it can fill up quickly.

For lunch I split the breaded tenderloin sandwich and parmesan steak fries with The Husband, we also ordered a side of the cucumber salad. The sandwich was really good. Very light and crispy, not even a bit greasy, but it was toped with plain old American cheese and on an untoasted wonderbread bun. Bread and cheese upgrades would be greatly appreciated and a 4th star awarded for the effort! The steak fries are basically a quartered (or maybe eighthed) potato that is then baked and topped with cheese. I would have liked them to be a bit browner, I prefer my taters crispy, but they were tasty, esp dipped in ranch. :) Try the famous strawberry cake, it was moist with tons of strawberry flavor. I almost forgot, they have super tender chicken gizzards (I know, these are not everyone's cup of tea). But it's crazy! They were tender, light and crispy. Good stuff. The service was fast and friendly for our party of 8.

Great food and wonderful service! Our server kept our drinks filled and made sure we had everything we could possibly want. The cheese curds with homemade ranch were to die for! Everything was delicious! After lunch, we went over to the winery for a tasting. It was also wonderful! Such a cute little town with great shops.

We were in town today to visit family. I googled places to eat in Glasgow, MO and read the reviews and menu. We were kindly greeted when we walked in and the great service continued throughout our meal. Our drinks never went empty and the food was outstanding, including cake and cheesecake from the local bakery for dessert. Don't miss an opportunity to stop in here, it's a treat!

This place is really really bad at one thing...self promotion. I eat at great restaurants all the time but this is as good as it gets and never bother to leave reviews. But, this place needs help getting the word out. Great atmosphere, food, price, service, etc. I would bet that the surrounding little town is hopping with its view do the River in summer as well. Highly, highly, recommended.
