Beautiful Music Violin Shop

I'm not gonna lie. I don't know a thing about instruments with strings. But what I can tell you is that the friendly staff of Beautiful Music is what "local business" in Lawrence is all about. The staff will go out of their way to answer any questions (yes, even my dumb ones" to a wanna be banjo player. Even though I didn't buy an instrument or get any instrument repaired I had to at least walk out of Beautiful Music Violin Shop with one of their awesome t-shirts! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone and encourage everyone to swing by!

The snarkiness of the female employees at this place ensures that I will never be a customer. They deserve 0 stars for customer service, and 5 stars for knowing how to efficiently waste ones time. If you want to deal with pedant attitudes, and not accomplish anything, this is your place! Thank you for starting my day off on the wrong note (get it?), now go fuck yourself!

I recently went with my son to buy him a new violin case. What a wonderful experience! The staff was incredibly helpful and knew a lot about all the different styles, brands and types of cases. We walked away with exactly what we wanted at a reasonable price! I would highly recommend this establishment to any lover of stringed instruments! (They also have done some amazing repair work for us in years past!)

I recently decided to buy a special case for my relatively new violin. Let's call it a GeeWiz case. It doesn't matter. The point is, Jesse at Beautiful Music ordered it for me. When it came, he priced it at the lowest price we could find on the internet. THEN he gave me a 15 percent discount because I had purchased my violin from Beautiful Music several months earlier. This shop, and more particularly, the folks who work there, are a treasure. Staff are so knowledgeable and helpful. I had never played a violin before, and now... ok, so I'm still a beginner. What a great vibe and positive experience! I've been kicking around learning to play the Fiddle lately. I did a yelp search for violin stores around the Kansas City area. The Beautiful Music Violin Shop happened to be the most convenient for our drive home. Jesse and JJ made the decision to purchase easy, fun and extremely low stress! We walked out feeling like we actually didn't want to leave! I'm nowhere near ready to sit in on an impromptu jam session but I feel like this is a place that welcomes the fiddle and the fiddler, no matter their level. Well done fellas! I came in to try out some cellos to decide which one to get. The luthier there was very nice and helpful. He kindly answered my questions and was great to work with. It is a very nice shop.

Employee for several years, patron for over a decade. This is a full service string shop that also hosts free jams and supports local music related events.

Excellent and honest service. I know nothing about orchestral instruments and they helped walk me through getting the supplies my daughter needed for her cello. In fact they made suggestions to save me money when it took money out of their pocket. I highly recommend this shop for anything you need.

I have an autistic child who is learning the violin. When we first came to Beautiful Music I was stressed; my kid likes to bounce around and fidget, and shopkeepers are not always understanding (my son has never broken anything and has coexisted with my art glass collection and other fragile art objects all his life). In any case, I was concerned about coming to Beautiful Music with my child, but I shouldn't have been. We were treated wonderfully. I have a special old fiddle I wanted to discuss, and had a wonderful conversation with one of the shopkeepers. We got a recommendation for a Suzuki teacher. We came back a few months later to rent a 1/2 size violin, and had a good experience with a different person working the counter. This is a very Lawrence place!

I've been there several times for my knds' instruments, and they have always been friendly, helpful, and reasonable. The shop has sort of an Ollivander's wand shop feel to not, which is cool.
