Smooth handling of crowds for east entry and exit. Nice layout. The rise in the rows from seat to seat doesn't work well for short people, like my daughter). High prices for drinks and snacks. Terrible cell coverage (likely not enough bandwidth to handle all attendees). Overall, if you like the band(s) playing, the experience will be worth going. Sandstone, as anyone from KC knows it by, is historic for outdoor concerts. I saw my first concert here in 1984. I've been here to see just about every type of music and a few festivals. The name changes are kinda superfluous (everyone still calls it Sandstone), and the overall experience has not changed much. The only real complaint I have is that my 5' nothing daughter cannot see, unless we get seats close to the stage or in the front rows of a section. I wish it was a little steeper, but that would be impossible. Just be aware that, if you are short, you need to sit someplace in front of the other tall people. Over the years, they have managed to keep their vendor prices consistently high. :-) No matter. It is what it is. Ha!The only bad experience I have ever had was 1998 Ozzfest, when a whole mob of bad actors scooped up dirt and grass and pelted the people in front. The management did nothing, and likely couldn't do anything. All in all, a good place to see your favorite bands ;-)

As someone from stl and is used to the Hollywood casino amphitheater, this venue fell short on many things. Parking took so long and it's $20 (again, used to the Hollywood casino amphitheater where parking is free). I'd understand maybe if the parking lot was paved, had appropriate lighting and the poles were numbered so you can find your car easily, but it was literally a big field. We ate before so didn't look for food so I'm not sure what they offer for that. I will say staff were nice every time I interacted with them. We got there right before the main band went on and it was PACKED. We were worried we wouldn't find a spot on the lawn because there were so many people standing around behind it but we eventually found one at the top. I do think they WAY overbooked the venue for this show. There are a few big speakers in the middle of the lawn too which can definitely block your view and overall be an eyesore. The screens were so small too. I think if they moved the speakers by the stage and made the screens bigger the venue would improve as well as if they changed the parking situation. We had fun at the show but I'd say compared to other venues especially our amphitheater in stl and KCs t mobile center, this venue has some improvements to make.

Positive: you get to see the band you bought a ticket to see. Employees are friendly. Everything else:Not many food choices. Men's bathrooms: one stall and a wall of urinals. If you want privacy or need to prepare to wait in line awhile. Facilities need a facelift. In 2023, we should just have washrooms/ bathrooms/restrooms that are multi gender. The screens to see the band from the lawn are smaller than the stage itself.

Handled the Noah Kahan show very very poorly. First, there were not enough barricades for those lining up for the lawn and very poor communication/signage. I personally got lucky with parking and have no complaints there. Be warned like many other big venues you will be stuck in the parking lot for about an hour-hour and a half after the show. CHECK THE VENUE INSTAGRAM that's where I found the info for when gates, parking, and lining up opened/started. If you don't check and only use the venue website info you'll be f*ck*d. For Noah, if I remember correctly the lot opened up at 3 and that's when you could line up. My friends and I found this info out last minute so we lined up at 4:30. Keep in mind the website said everything normally opens an hour before the show. We brought in beach towels, since they recommend beach towel sized blankets. Here are some tips, bring water with you for lining up(idk why we forgot to do that panicking brained ig) and bring 1L unsealed bottles for inside. Also, bringing at hat if to plan of getting there as soon as it opens. And maybe a cheap umbrella to throw away for extra shade. Now for the real stuff. We got there early and were about the fifth town on the lawn. Great view, very excited. Well, about 20 minutes before Noah went on there was a big issue. They oversold the venue. So probably about 100-200 people did not have spot on the lawn. Now, instead of having venue employees move everyone that rightfully got their spot by waiting in line for 3+ hours. THEY FLOODED THE LAWN. Now, this is my first lawn show, but that just seems SO WRONG. We were suddenly in row 30 with no personal space. There were also people complaining about people laying down, etc. YEAH cause we are supposed to have enough space to do so. My recommendation to the venue is to hire extra personnel to handle big shows like this. They should have had employees handling the lawn from the beginning and making sure everyone was scooted up enough to accommodate. Also, if you're going to oversell the venue invest in bigger screens. I personally had only good interactions with venue employees in person. The performance was great! But for the experience the tickets should have been half the price. Lawn should have been $20 and the pit should have been max $150. Food was decent.

I went here for Kelce Jam it was a cool rainy evening in April and we had to stand in line for about 15 minutes before we could enter. Once we got in there was plenty of food options from local restaurants and bbq spots around town. One of the sponsors of the concert was wing stop and they were offering three free wings the line was long but you didn't have to wait to long for the wings. The amphitheater itself is nice and made the acoustic and music sound great. All of the parking is in a gravel parking lot. The logistics and routes for the entrance and exit also make it hard to get out of there and causes a lot of traffic. Overall though plenty of sitting and standing room.

I love all places that are outdoors, serve cold beers and have live music. How could you not? We were here for the sold out Snoop Dogg show, with lawn seats, and we had plenty of room for a picnic blanket for 2. Long lines for the swag and band merch. And the crowds never stopped refilling their bellies with dranks. Gravel parking lot isn't ideal but it wasn't super difficult to get parked and to leave in an orderly fashion. Another cool spot to catch a show in KC!

My last visit to "Sandstone" before last night was 1994. Back in the day I saw a ton of shows there because that's where all the big tours came during the summer months. Dylan / Petty, Bowie, P. Simon, Clapton, Nicks, J. Browne, Buffett, Moody's, Traffic, D. Mode...plenty of great artists, but never a great venue. I still attend 20+ shows per year (pre-covid) but always pass when an artist that I want to see plays this venue ( Jason Isbell - I'm talking to you). It's just not worth the hassle!Last night was an exception; as a surprise to my wife I purchased Foo Fighter tix. We ended up with GA lawn tickets and squeezed in to a crowded grassy area about 1/2 mile from the stage with 18,000 others. Where is the comfort, magic or joy in doing this? The Foo Fighters were fantastic, but never again will I purchase tickets for this venue. The location: Bonner Springs. Are you kidding me? Sure that may be great if your driving in from Topeka, but is very inconvenient for most of the metro, especially Missourians. The traffic on I-70 is horrendous and the infrastructure in the area can not adequately handle such an influx of traffic. The location also ensures that an Uber ride will be cost prohibitive.Parking. Even worse. Un mowed and unkept fields and loose rock paths and lots provide multiple ways to sprain an ankle or fall on your 2 mile hike to queue in a 1/2 hour line at the gate. Cell phone reception. None. You better have down-loaded your tix or have paper copies or your standing in another line. Don't expect to get a signal to get a ride out of there either if you were dropped off. I saw dozens of people walking up the road for miles to get to a location they could call for a ride or meet people.Restrooms and amenities. A joke. Side stage video monitors. I've seen bigger ones in sports bars.I've been to events at the sports complex with double+ the attendance and no where near the hassle.Sandstone / Verizon / Providence / Azura Amphitheater please consider demolition or capping attendance at 1/3 of current limit. You have had 35 years to get this perfected...you have failed.

I was here for the Foo Fighters concert. I had a a good time but it could have been better. the parking was reasonably priced and easy to get in. However, no one in my group had phone service, and they didn't provide wi-fi. why is that? I would think they would want everyone to be able to use their phones to check-in on social media to help promote their name. It took us a while to get in, I love the security but they did not have enough people working to get guests inside in a timely manner. Once inside we had to stand in another line to get to our seats. I won't make plans on coming back until I know they have improved.

The parking lot is ridiculous. it is a pasture with little light. It is hard to get out of when the event is over. Restrooms are mostly Johnny on the spots. The seats are not well marked and are gated off halfway down. if there was an emergency event it would be difficult to exit. It is hard to find your seat and no one is there to help. The screens are small and difficult to see. would not recommend

I guess it's OK but I attended a concert in St. Louis last week at the Hollywood venue. Absolutely no comparison, they have clean flushing outhouses, many merchandise vendors so you don't have to miss the concert standing in line, many options for drinks with option of extra shots, awesome view of stage no matter where you sit, and most of all, reasonably tickets with FREE PARKINSON. Azura needs to update.
