"Small" semi intimate setting as a movie theater but with a stage for tonight's live performance with Brass Rewind. They have VIP seating--it does offer bistro tables/seating, behind the theatre style seats, but perhaps only for "LIVE" events? So far, the seats are comfy. Plenty of leg room where I'm seated--4th row from the stage-stage left? lol I have no clue but facing the stage, I'm seated on the right, so??They do have a concession stand, and there's a food truck outside--not sure the truck is this venue's modus operandi.

Fun place. With their eye grabbing marquee, I'm always paying attention to their upcoming shows as I drive by Aztec often. I was excited to go with my wife and parents to see The Truetones as my mom is a huge Beatles fan. I underestimated how much it would fill up so we stood up near the stage. Though we would not have expected this, Aztec's staff was very kind to offer us any available seats. I do wish there was more standing room available and I wish there was a larger variety of music that played here. However, the classic rock cover bands I've seen here put on a GREAT show. I'm glad to have this place in my local community.

Went with some friends last night to see a Madonna & Lady Gaga cover band and it was a blast! The theater is so cute & inviting, as well as cozy & casual. The staff are so friendly. We ate before going, but I know they serve some snacks there & often have a food truck outside for more options. Prices are affordable too!

The Aztec theater has been beautifully renovated, and is very retro and cool! It's a perfect venue for smaller concerts. The theater-type seating is very comfortable and gives pretty much everyone a good view. If you pay for the VIP area at the back, just know you will be as far as possible from the bands, but there are tables and chairs there, so you can more comfortably eat and drink. All the regular seats have cupholders, but your lap is your table! You can bring in food from anywhere, but they ask that you purchase your beverages from them. That includes water, soda pop, several delicious specialty alcoholic drinks, and other cocktails. Their website has a list of which food truck will be outside on any given weekend. Inside the theater they sell various kinds of bagged popcorn, kettle corn, etc., and the usual movie-theater candies and snacks. There's lots of free available parking, including a big lot behind the theater, the city lot across the street, and street parking. This was once a movie theater, but it's now a great, somewhat intimate concert venue.

Gotta get back in tiiiiimmmmee! What a gem of a venue! We came to see our friends band Trash Night & this was our first time at this theatre. They have a great bar, some snacks, and you can order food from McClain's delivered to the theatre. They have bands as well as old fashioned movies. If you haven't been to Shawnee in awhile you will be blown away by how many new restaurants and bars in town.

While I like the idea of renovating an old theater for mixed events I didn't necessarily like seeing a music concert here. Why, because theater seating made it feel like a movie. I understand if more sit down events are scheduled current seating is perfect. However music concerts are rarely subdued seat down events for all. In my opinion remove permanently or temporarily half the seating and open the floor. Otherwise accommodation and service was very friendly.

What an incredible gift this theater is to our community. After spending three years remodeling the Aztec, it is finally open, and it offers one of the most intimate venues in Kansas City. The seats are comfy and large, the prices are great, the employees are fantastic, and the movies and artists they're bringing in are diverse and fun. Follow the Aztec on social media and give this place a try. It's absolutely worth visiting. We will definitely be back!

I this place. Got tickets for 3 friends visiting from out of town and this place did the job. We saw two tribute bands (for Fleetwood Mac and the Who). Both were great bands. Fridnds were impressed with the theatre...everything from the service...the bar tender remembered our order to the cleanliness of the place. So flad this local old theatre has been turned into a treasure. Rock on!

This place is so amazing. A bunch of people with a dream have taken an empty hall and turned it into a cozy beautiful and amazing place. The workmanship, comfy seats and music!!! Oh my gosh, I can't believe how good the band was. If you are looking to support a worthwhile venue come on down. You find heart and soul here
