Let's start with the good. This place is a solid 4 stars, and as a local, I appreciate this eclectic niche store. It's fun, has great products, and if it's slightly overpriced - no problem. I want you to stay in business.Every time I've been shopping there (20 times?) over the years, staff have been helpful and kind. Except the last time. Was in purchasing some Christopher Elbow chocolates for my niece. The 20 something girl working the counter was so rude and dismissive in an elitist helping-you-is-beneath-me kind of way. We've all seen this, it's generally garden variety insecurity, and as such, I can roll with it. However, this kid was so persistent in her rudeness I just waited for her to leave so I could be helped by someone else... and that someone else was helpful and nice. The next time I go in, assuming the same experience doesn't repeat, I'll come back to Yelp to switch this review to 4 stars.

Nice little gem on Massachusetts. If you're looking for a nice international variety that isn't World Market, this is your place. I enjoy their selection of cheese and chocolates. Folks here are friendly, too. This is my go-to stop for stocking stuffers.

Nice little store to pick up items from Europe. Normally stop in for items that are needed for cooking or baking that I do not want to order online in bulk. Yes the prices can be high but a majority of items are either fresh or have to be shipped over. Unless you bring it back yourself, your going to be paying more from items made in Europe. I have tried some of the chocolates that they have had and have never been disappointed but they are not my usual type of sweet treat.

Au Marché is a lovely little local shop where you immerse yourself in European foodie culture, or just do what I always do and load on up rare Haribo gummies from the back.I became a bit of a Francophile during my time in college, capped off with several months in France for a study abroad. This was a taste of some of those fun markets with cheeses, meats, and all the Euro-branded snacks and desserts you could ask for. It's pricey, but that's kind of expected for an artisanal import shop like this one. If there's something you've had from Europe that you need a taste of back home, odds are you'll find it. It's like a better, smaller version of "World Market." Fun place to pop into as you make your way down Mass St.

Next door to Brits, you'll find European Market - a brick and mortar type shop that's fit for those longing for a taste that they consider as "Everday European." Here's a rundown:Soaps from France.Cheeses from Germany.Chocolates from Lindt.Fleur de Sel.Pasta from Bendetto Cavalieri.Couscous from IsrealPanchetta, Jamon Serrano (Spanish Ham), & ProsciuttoIf that isn't enough to start those feet walking and the car starting, then be sure to sample some of their Pate de Fruit. It's off the chart and gorgeously presented, begging to be photographed.

This place makes bank just on the fact that you can't possibly find such and such Euro offering anywhere else.Except maybe World Market...I'd way rather support a local business but...Au Marche isn't exactly selling stuff that is "local," is it?The prices just drive me nuts. Yes, I realize we're smack dab in the middle of the country and having access to international products isn't a given, but, uh, 8 dollars for a bacon chocolate bar?! Or a bar of soap?! Or a condiment? That said, I give it three stars because the staff is extremely helpful and well, if I didn't think ahead in time to order some stuff online, I guess I'd go here in a pinch.

I have a dairy allergy so can only eat dark chocolate that doesn't have milk or whey added. Needless to say, much of the dark chocolate I find is like eating baker's chocolate. I happened across dark chocolates at Au Marche and the clerk was kind enough to look up the ingredients (warning: processed on equipment that has been exposed to milk products). I happily purchased the dark chocolate-covered espresso beans and orange peel. So amazing! Props for smooth flavor without bitterness. I did have some reaction to the espresso beans but that could be because of the massive amount of caffeine. Bottom line: If you love a good bit of dark chocolate, this is the place to find it. Dairy allergy sufferers, proceed with caution according to the severity of your allergies.

This long-time Au Marche shoppers thinks they deserves a perfect rating for a lot of reasons, including great customer service, but mainly because they offer a wide range of premium local and imported food products in one location that are otherwise very difficult or impossible to find. If you like to cook, you can find some products here you'll soon be unable to live without.Pricey, yes, but look at a small sampling of things we think we can't do without that otherwise would have us ordering online or driving to Kansas City.More Than Gourmet red and white finishing sauces - essential in this house, make you into a brilliant cook.Christopher Elbow chocolates and ice cream - so we don't have to drive to KCOne of the best selections of fine sausages, meats and cheeses in town (try finding Raclette elsewhere in Lawrence)Best selection of European chocolates in townSelect duck breastsDuck fat! Talk to me, baybeeeeeee.Orangina long before it was popular in the U.S.Labello European lip care products (stocked upon request by yours truly)The list goes on. They'll also put together a killer cheese and meat platter for you over the phone for pick-up, a service I've used a number of times. In short, if you're looking for a pretty unique food shopping experience, I can't think of anything in Kansas City that quite matches Au Marche without driving around a lot. No, it's not the size of Trader Joe's, but that's part of the appeal. It's small, it's downtown, and you'll find food products here that are found nowhere else in the region. Truffle sausage, anyone?

Au Marche is a blessing. The best, authentic cheese in town (Gruyere, Emmenthal, Raclette) real bratwurst, deli meats and European food items you won't find anywhere else. Don't let the grousing about prices deter you. Whether it is because you can get it elsewhere or (more likely) you can't, you will make the decision to buy based upon the delight you will experience when you relive a bit of your European experience at the dinner table. My personal observation is that the cheeses are very competitive with imported cheeses of equal quality. If you set a table for your family or guests with Au Marche deli meats and cheeses and Wheatfields bread, for a small share of what you would spend at an upscale restaurant, you will delight everyone.

Been to this store before so cute, full of great snacks. My boyfriend's little sister broke her nail and started hurting so we asked for a bandage. They were so nice and helped her put the bandaid on, making sure she was okay, we will definitely be back thank you so much!
