Yet another resource of Mexican fare on 7th Avenue in KCK, continuation of a wealth of interesting restaurants and grocery stores up and down the street for a good mile plus. Art's is a mix of several things. I wasn't aware they make chips which others noted, but came looking for a mortal and pestle which is now sitting on my kitchen counter. The had at least a dozen. Not a restaurant, but part dry and canned goods grocery store, a sign advertising they serve menudo only on Saturdays--I'm guessing they do well with that, some frozen items in the tamale, tortilla and general masa product category and, well, lets just say professional store layout isn't their thing. It's sort of like a corner store with a lot of things in the category of you need to know what they have before you walk in. Still, I adore these kind of places and the lady that assisted couldn't have been nicer. Here's my recommendation. Pair a short visit here with Tierra Calienta restaurant across the street. It's a place you probably will never stop in, and that's a mistake.

What beats local, fresh, all natural and authentic?! Nothing that I can think of. Best place to get fresh corn tortilla products. They've been around for over 55 years. How many companies like that can say they've been in business that long?

1) Boil chicken2) Heat Art's Enchilada Sauce in pan.3) Dip tortilla's into sauce and stack them back up. Give the tortilla's a chance to soak up the sauce and don't skimp.4) Once chicken is cooled, shred it.5) Season chicken to taste (I use just salt and pepper / my mom also adds cumin and garlic)6) Roll chicken, cheese, and green chile's into tortilla and place in pan7) Brush extra enchilada sauce on top and bake them in the oven at 325 for 15 minutes. 8) Enjoy the best enchiladas in the world.... if you don't use Art's, don't even bother.

Best place to buy tortilla chips and salsa. Chips are fresh, crispy and delicious. Service is friendly and helpful. Great to support a local business with outstanding products.

A great place for not only authentic Mexican food but also Mexican products. My family gets their products for the yearly Christmas tamales. Rachel is always a gem to work with!

The best tortilla chips in Kansas City, light and fresh with no preservatives. Much better than the big national brands and made right here in KC.

The service here was horrible. The woman that helped me was short with me. She was incredibly rude and didn't treat me with any respect. This was sad. I remember my parents taking me down there when I was a kid and I think it was Art who waited on us. He was so helpful and happy to help. I see that ownership must have changed. Also the building was dirty and dingy and didn't make me feel good about the food that was being produced in this kind of environment. Sad when a local company changes so drastically. I won't be shopping there or using any of their products ever again.
