Great location, excellent food and service. The vibe is chill and a smidge bougie, in the best way.

This restaurant is in The Ambassador Hotel in downtown Kansas City, MO. This is not your average "hotel restaurant" rather is a seriously elevated hotel dining experience!I came here several times during my 4 night stay, to enjoy wine at the bar, to enjoy a couple of amazing breakfasts, to enjoy dinner one evening, and to enjoy dessert on a different evening. The service by everyone I encountered was spot-on and very friendly. The venue is dimly lit and beautifully decorated, sort of art deco'ish. Their menus are great, lots of appetizing and eye-catching dishes on them! For breakfast, their American Reserve Breakfast is a knockout! The 6 grain toast is incredible!! They perfectly toast it on the flat top and then offer it up with some butter, which just really makes it taste even better! But those breakfast potatoes are insanely good! Probably the best breakfast potatoes I've had!! Soft, very flavorful, and slightly zesty and I love how they incorporate the diced onions and peppers in it, along with the seasoning. Eggs were always cooked just right! For dinner one evening I opted for soup and salad... both were made with very fresh ingredients and their house made smoked tomato vinaigrette was excellent. Their tomato bisque was very tasty! Save room for dessert, they make a great Crème Brûlée!They do offer a very nice wine and cocktail list as well. Definitely check ahead or make reservations. While I was there, they were completely packed over the weekend, but not so busy on the weeknights - Better safe than sorry. Highly recommend stopping in!!

Hotel restaurants can be hit or miss, this place inside Ambassador Hotel didn't disappoint. From greeting by hotel hostess to the great services form our waiter, I'd come back. My friend and I chose: Shrimp & grits and Chicken n Waffles. Both plated presentation done with classic.Shrimp n grits ingredients were not your typical with tomatoes, spinach and sweet chili butter.. all adding sweet mix of flavors with the entire dish.Chicken was cooked perfectly.. lightly crisp that melts in you mouth.. juicy and flavorful!

This restaurant is in the ambassador hotel. I must likely wouldn't have dined here on my own since it is in a hotel and I live in Kansas City, however I decided to do dinner with strangers and this is the restaurant that was chosen for us. When I arrived, no one was at the hostess stand, when the hostess did come she had no idea what I was talking about (dinner with strangers) luckily one of my table mates had already arrived and waved me over. This is not a large establishment and began to fill up quickly as time went on. I was there at 7pm and it started getting busier around 8pm. Our server took quite awhile to come take any sort of other, drink or food, but they was filled water glasses already on the table. We had a party of 5. The atmosphere was pretty nice kind of loud but not to bad. I had the cool as a cucumber drink, it was good but not very strong. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. They were out of a lot of different alcohol and sides. And the server was confusing when explaining things. Once we all received our food everyone agreed it was good. I had the seared chicken and I almost sure the mashed potatoes were made with either sugar or some sort of sweet potato but it was still decent, I just added salt and gravy. Out of everyone's order the burger looked best and seemed to be the best value. The hotel seems very nice but it is a, little rough outside. There is a large bus stop close by and there were a lot of rowdy people outthere. Also good luck finding free parking near here, even though it was only$2 for 2 hours of parking. I would perhaps come back here if someone visiting kc stayed at the hotel but other than that most likely not. There are many other options in KC and a better value. 2 stars if this was a standalone restaurant but 3 for hotel dining.

Great service, ambiance and a decent amount of GF items and even mocktails. I got the Caesar salad without croutons, Brussels sprouts for the table and the salmon. Everything had so much flavor and was really well cooked. My friend wasn't a fan of her steak burger or soup but I would say the meal overall was a success.

The American Reserve is situated within the Ambassador Hotel Kansas City. The decor offsets the poor lighting in the American Reserve restaurant. Few guests seem to dine in the hotel restaurant which ultimately seemed to affect the servers enthusiasm. The brunch on the other hand was creative and expertly plated! While the service appeared to improve momentarily, the server became excessively loud and rude when she failed to calculate the debt correctly against the funds received. Sadly, I included a very generous tip designed to offset the lack of guests that I now wish I had reduced after the unprofessional outburst. My recommendation to hotel and restaurant management is to teach their staff & servers to apologize when they make a mistake and remain professional regardless the situation.

We came here on NYE after being at the Chiefs game. We had reservations at 7:30 but got there about 7 and they were able to seat us early. They had a smaller than normal menu but there was no mention of that on the website so that was disappointing. I had the pork chops with mac and cheese and it was really good but nothing came out very hot and our service was not outstanding. I would say this place is fine but I probably won't be back because there are so many great options downtown.

I was very disappointed with my experience at The American Reserve after looking forward to a nice evening out. First, the skillet cornbread didn't taste like cornbread should. It tasted like it had too much of something and was gummy on the inside. Our chopped salad was supposed to have an egg and it mentions the tomato vinaigrette not dried tomatoes which had too many in them. The KC Strip steak was bland and the potatoes au gratin was cold. I sent it back and the second one wasn't any better. I've never had au gratin potatoes that was made with eggs. It had a taste of quiche in it. One reason I picked a Saturday night was to hear the band. That was a disappointment as well. I've heard this guy perform at another venue and knew I'd see a nice performance but that night was not his night. He didn't seem to remember words to some of the songs and he was singing very low. I'm not sure I'd be back for dinner. I'm not trying to bash the place but gibing a review of my visit.

I came for dinner and the live music was amazing and I loved the ambiance of the space. My food did come out cold which was unfortunate but it was still very delicious. The waitress was incredibly sweet! My friend got the salmon and it was a pretty small portion. I don't think I would come back though since it was nothing special.

We had a wonderful evening at The American Reserve on a double date. We went there an hour before our reservation to grab a drink at the bar. We loved sitting in on the lounge couches enjoying our cocktails. I ordered an espresso martini and my boyfriend enjoyed the cool as a cucumber. Both drinks were delicious! When we sat down for dinner, we instantly ordered the Formaggio dip which was insane and is a must!! I wish it had come with more bread because we had to order extra which was an additional charge, but the dip was delicious. For dinner we ordered the salmon, roasted chicken and the French dip. Each of us loved what we ordered! The menu isn't anything wild or out of the ordinary but we agreed everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. The restaurant was packed during our dinner and there was some live jazz music being performed in part of the restaurant which added a nice element to our dinner. We had a great time here and all four of us loved our food. I would definitely come back here!
