Don't let the idea of this eatery nestled within a truck top keep you at bay. My husband ordered the B&G and I ordered classic French toast with a side of eggs over easy and hash browns. My husband is very picky about his biscuits and gravy, but this meal did not disappoint! From the welcoming customer service of Miss Loretta, to the delicious meals, this little stop is a gem off the I-7/49. If you're in for a treat, this is the place for a good home cooked breakfast. Quiet atmosphere with friendly people.

This restaurant is located inside the gas station, next to Dunkin' Donuts. They serve breakfast all day along with steaks and sandwiches. I ordered steak and eggs, and they were very good! Service was quick and there is plenty of seating inside the restaurant. I will definitely come here again.

04/2023The Apple barrel restaurantLocated inside Sapp Brothers travel plaza staffed by them but run as its own entity.Somewhere to like travel centers of America and Petro where they still have some country prides and iron skillets this is basically Sapp Brothers restaurants and some of their plazas still that have not closed up through the years in our now post covid world. As you come in through the travel plaza past Dunkin' Donuts from the car area or through the truck area you will see a separate entrance and it's a nice size Cafe.Breakfast is served all day long until they close currently hours are 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. excluding major holidays. Some people on other review sites say it's a little high on price it's kind of competitive nowadays a lot of things are a little bit higher but one thing I can definitely say is a quality you get what you pay for and boy was I impressed.I came and sat down I was greeted immediately I ordered up some cawfee splash of milk on the side for it like I like to add with my Splenda.they were almost ready to change shifts but not quite I got a menu she gave me plenty of time and I decided to go with the hamburger steak one of my favorites two eggs over medium hash browns not real crunchy and sourdough toast.I looked at the menu and saw they still have a great dinner selection too apparently they're burnt ends are a big big favorite I'll have to come back and put the feed bag on for those eventually. Most of the Sapp Brothers in my travels don't have restaurants there's only a couple I hit anymore where is there further out west they still have many with restaurants in them but I don't run that far west anymore hell I don't even think I've been to Omaha Nebraska and more than 5 years or west of there. My food came out I was very impressed it wasn't just a frozen hamburger patty this was a hand padded because it was lopsided and uneven which shows you oh yeah that's how you do it the right way you handpad it smash It Down came out fantastic. Put a splash A1 on there along with the eggs over medium just like I like them sourdough toast was good the hash browns that they were hash browns LOL.Other than that I was highly impressed and definitely decided to create the page because I noticed on the Google machine they have a review for the Apple barrel on its own too so I decided to take a shot and make one up because it's definitely worth it.This location is a very high traffic area because it sits at the junction coming south of Kansas City where you split off on State route 7 to go to words the gateway to the Ozarks from there down into Springfield lot of traffic comes through here.In the early weekend hours you may have to wait a bit for a seat cuz it does tend to line up a little bit I came in after the crowds it was a good time for me for brunch.Definitely will return when I'm in the Kansas City South area

Burnt ends are not really 'burnt ends' Garden salad is iceberg kinda hard to eat on a small plate, I would've gone for another side had I known. Service was ok during a busy lunch Regular booth and chair dining room setup, salad bar unused in the middle. I wonder if they ever open it?

Truck stop diner. No frills but food was good. I recommend the sweet cream pancakes and the bacon was thick cut and very good. Prices were reasonable too.

Great burgers. Service is average but tolerable. Not terribly busy in my experience so seating is usually ample.
