For some weird reason, i had not set foot into Anthony's since about 1991. I was a casual regular when I lived downtown in the late 80's and early 90's and always loved the place. So what kept me from stopping in during the past 34 years? Not a clue, but after my Saturday afternoon happy hour visit, Anthony's goes in to heavy rotation for Saturday or Sunday afternoon places to visit. The happy hour menu from 3-6pm is maybe the best in town, with a long list of food and drink options for $5 a pop. I sat at the bar and was immediately given a glass of water, silverware and a white tablecloth was spread out in front of me. My server Crystal was welcoming, attentive and a great conversationalist. I chose the Jazz bread service, the Italian Sausage, Italian Fries and a Peach Sangria. A small feast fit for a prince and just $20! The Jazz dipping sauce was so good - a thick layer of garlic, parmesan and herbs in a bowl of olive oil was heavenly to dip my bread and even my fries. The fries were cooked to crispy perfection and covered in Italian seasoning and parmesan and the two Italian sausages were large and were accompanied by a bowl of a sweet suga with fresh cheese, ground in front of me, to my liking. Nothing short a perfect little meal. The vibe is old school Italian and besides the great service from my bartender, two other gents checked in on me. They definitely make you feel like family with the sincere appreciation, great food, subtle lighting, and Frank, Tony and Dean playing at the perfect level for background music. Best afternoon of the year so far. Vibe 5 starsFood 5 starsValue 5 stars+Customer Service 5 stars

Our friends that have lived in Kansas City for decades, invited us to meet them at Anthony's restaurant before our trip to MTH for a show tonight.Anthony's is a place they really like and we all felt like Italian food. They had made reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. We got there before happy hour ended at six and ordered a glass of wine each for five dollars, which was a good value. My wife and I ordered two meatballs for five dollars as well. The bread that came out before any of the other food was kind of warm and that would set a tone for the evening. When the meatballs arrived, they had a tiny bit of heat to them, but were lukewarm and the sauce they were in was cold. That was a little bit disappointing to be honest. The atmosphere in this restaurant is magnificent! It's right out of the 70s and just super cool. I love ham and bean soup and that was the soup du jour. It was very hot and lovely. It was a little bit thinner than any of us expected, but the flavor was nice. Our delightful server brought me Tabasco for the soup. Curiously, it was not served with a soup spoon, but a very tiny teaspoon and it took me forever to eat the soup. But even with that, it was still hot at the end. My wife got the house salad with Italian dressing, which she liked very much.We shared the lasagna with meat sauce, and I didn't taste a lot of meat in the sauce. Also, the lower part of the lasagna was hot, but the top half of it was not. Very curious. The flavor of the lasagna was marvelous and the sauce was a little sweet and quite good. We were just so disappointed that several of the items at the table came from the kitchen cold. This is a great restaurant, a lovely family place and clearly very popular but they have to do better at serving people hot food. If everything had come out at a proper temperature, this would be a five star review. The food was good, but cold.

Dropped in for lunch during restaurant week. Nice curated menu to choose from for lunch or dinner including soup or salad, entree, and a dessert. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with salad, and a cannoli for dessert. My Chicken Parmesan was breaded and cooked just right and crispy on the outside and smothered in mozzarella cheese. Anthony's famous sugo of course added to the overall classic taste of this dish. I love the cannoli and it was just right to finish up the dinner. Of course, the Italian bread with Jazz sauce and butter is a must with the meal. One of my favorites in KC!

Stopped in for lunch during restaurant week. Very neat old school Italian restaurant. Place was very busy. I had the house salad with Italian dressing that was very good (dressing not too sweet). Had the ravioli as the entree with an Italian sausage. Sauce was good, sausage was good and the ravioli very good. Only negatives were the bread crust was overheated so couldn't even chew it and sauce on the ravioli was cold. Overall good meal and I'll be back.

Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge serves up some of the most delicious pasta you'll ever taste, and their Pasta Angela is a standout dish. Bursting with flavor, the perfectly cooked pasta is coated in a rich, savory romano cheese butter sauce that will leave you craving more. Their housemade dressing, paired with a fresh, crisp salad, is equally impressive and elevates the dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant adds to the dining experience, making it a perfect spot for a memorable meal. Whether you're a pasta lover or just looking for a fantastic meal, Anthony's is a must-try!

It's not for me personally. Very basic and limited menu. Simple and traditional. The sauce is soooo sweet, I prefer more spicy and chunky with tomato's and veggies. The lemon chicken was my main dish but I was disappointed it didn't have capers and tasted more like a chicken in gravy. The chicken fettuccine was mostly noodles (not much chicken) but the portion was large. The prices are very affordable, makes sense for the atmosphere and simplicity. Staff was friendly. Again I just don't think it's for my style.

For the price it's hard to beat the amount of food you get at Anthony's. My wife and I enjoyed our dinner here- since we arrived during a thunderstorm the restaurant was empty when we arrived. It filled up some as we dined but can't imagine it's hard to get a table on a Friday night. Italian food normally isn't my favorite but I enjoyed my chicken spiedini immensely. I also liked the KC jazz appetizer to dip the delicious bread in. We will definitely be back!

Came here per the reviews.Rating Calamari freshly prepared and good quality. Perfect starter (yes the sauce is sweet, not a fan) Pasta Angela Cream sauce is flat with little to no flavor. Added some lemon to jazz it up to no avail. The shrimp added were meh.Cavatelli and broccoli(no c pasta avail, it was served using penne) I added sausage and good thing I did. The sauce(while tasty) is all consuming of the pasta(which was more overcooked than preffered..We received excellent service from every staff member we interacted with. The ambiance of the restaurant gives old school vibes, nice!

I was visiting from out of town and was delighted to see a restaurant within walking distance from my hotel. The food at Anthony's was delicious and the portions were perfect. You can definitely have a good meal here and not break the bank. The ambiance was fancy but not the type where you feel underdressed. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Save room for dessert!

I love this place. The food, the food is awesome. Simple but well done. Love the seasonal soups. Staff is incredible. Decor is not fancy, but Kansas City comfortable. Portions are ample and they do not scrimp. A lot of menu choices. I've been there regularly and I've never been disappointed. Love that consistency in their food and service.
