What impresses me most about Alma Mader is how well they've perfected a plethora of brew styles - from amazing barrel aged ales to outstanding lager beers. If you're lucky enough to visit the brewery for a special release that's awesome. It's also a great spot to visit anytime though too. There is always good beer on tap and cans to go.This is where I take friends from out of town who want to visit a good KC brewery. The beer's the main reason, but it's also a cool place to hang out. They have a great patio.

In the shadow of that massive, touristy, mediocre brewery...the biggest in Kansas City exists Alma Mader. A small brewery in a dusty industrial/warehouse location...like how breweries used to be, before they got trendy.I found out about them while talking to the taptender at Strange Days Brewing on the north side of town. I told him I liked hoppy lagers and...rather than look at me like I said I enjoy frosty fires, as your average brewery employee so often does...he knew EXACTLY what I was talking about! He told me they had a Cold IPA on tap next week. When I told him I'd be gone next week, he told me to go to two breweries:BKS Artisan AlesAlma Mader BrewingAlma Mader specializes in soft and hopppy hazy/New England IPAs but also in crisp, clear lagers. As I stated above: it's the lagers that brought me here. They had a dry hopped pilsner and a more traditional Czech pilsner and...both were incredible. This place also serves all its beer in beautiful custom glassware. The space is industrial-modern with high ceilings and wood, but a pretty cozy floorplan. The have lots of cans for purchase, and I definitely grabbed one of that dry-hopped lager. (you can also buy them as singles)Skip Boulevard, come here instead!

Stopped into Alma Mader last night for an event with friends at Abortion Action Missouri and it was great! I only had one beer and it was good. My friends enjoyed the beer and cider they had as well. The bartender was super nice and I heard some good things about the business in general from other people. I really enjoyed the relaxing vibes of the brewery and it was decorated nicely.

Went here for a friend's birthday party and found my new favorite pilsner! I know pilsners aren't the most exciting to beer folks, but the occasional cold, crisp and flavorful pilsner on a warm night is great option for me. During some of my old Yelp reviews, I was super into beer and had a good pulse around the city, but I've really backed off that these days and it's a much more occasional treat. I no longer consider myself anywhere near a beer expert. The space itself is a mixed bag for me; bursting with energy and friendly folks on one of those first real warm spring days, and a little outdoor patio which seems almost necessary. However, it's sort of bland and black/white in here too, and along a busy and industrial stretch of road. It's the kind of place where I'd say the beer needs to be good enough to be a draw, because you're not going to find yourself just walking by and popping in.. and again, the beer IS good enough to be a draw! I found the staff to be friendly, and the beer to be pricey. I've been out of the brewery game for a while now, and also what isn't too expensive these days, but it's definitely not your a brewery for a budget. We brought our kids here because it was for a private party on the side, so I think they're allowed? We didn't hear otherwise, but there are other breweries that are a better fit for kids to tag along that have games and space to run around. One person had a very chill dog with them too. Fun spot, really memorable and tasty beers that I tried, and I recommend giving this spot a visit.

This was our first time at Alma Mader Brewing. I had the Look West Cider and really enjoyed it. I love ciders and sours and would come back again for this cider. There is plenty of space and a lot of seating. While it was busy, we did not have trouble finding a spot to sit. We will definitely return!

Hubby voted it as really good beer. Atmosphere is a little like a really nice airy office space, but if the beer is good, that's what matters most. You can always add a little more story to your space as you grow. They do have an outdoor patio space, but without any shade, on a 100 degree day, it's not going to get used much.

I don't make it KC,MO as much as I should. I have good friends there and last time I was there we went to several craft breweries. A lot has changed since then and some of those breweries are no longer open and a whole bunch of new ones have opened since then.Alma Mader seems to be one of the new ones or one that possibly escaped my attention when I was there last. For this brewery I had their Czech Lager the Premiant. Unfortunately I felt it was just fair. I thought it was kind of bland in flavor and didn't have that biscuity flavor in these types of beers that I so admire. Perhaps exploring their other beer styles would be a good idea to see if I would have liked something better but I heavily lean towards lagers these days so I'm not sure...

Stopped by Alma Mader for a few drinks early on Super Bowl Sunday. They were pretty dead when we got there around 1, but were pretty busy when we left. They don't do flights, but do half pours. I had the stout on tap, and it was delicious. My husband had a hazy ipa and a slow pour of the premiant. I loved the foam on top of the slow pour. I'd definitely stop back by if in the area.

Alma Mader does it a little different. They brew small batches of beer that they sell at the brewery. You can belly up for a draft pour and / or buy a four pack to go. The brews change depending on the day, the season and the brewers' tastes. There isn't a rhyme or a reason how they go about it, but there's usually something for everyone. I recommend the Premiant - a Czech-style Pilsner.Upon first glance, this location isn't much to look at, but once you're inside, you'll enjoy this little slice of a semi-industrial strip mall. The taproom is a bit cozy, but big enough so it doesn't feel crowded. You can belly up at the bar or grab a chair at one of the high tops. The brewery has added an outdoor "patio" for the days when the weather cooperates.Parking is a bit complicated. The lot is a small and Southwest Boulevard traffic can be difficult to navigate.

One of my favorite breweries to visit as they always provide high quality service and high quality brews. Everything is crafted with diligence and delicacy. They work hard to match the styles and profiles that they make. Their lagers are crispy and light while their IPAs really put on the hops for ample flavor. They are working on their barrel aged stouts and they have been well balanced. It's cool to see they are doing collaborations as well. The space has been coming together over the years with a larger space inside with the mural and their new patio decor, lights, and speakers. If you haven't stopped by, it won't disappoint
