9th & State is a beautiful bar to enjoy a drink at in the Westbottoms of KC. I highly recommend ordered the Kimbel. Fun fact: 10% of the specific cocktail sales goes toward a charity/cause...awesome! There are even ping pong tables in the bar if you are wanting to have some fun. Great for a date, with friends, or with coworkers.

We had a great time trying out a few cocktails on a Friday night. The staff was great, they had unique glassware for their drinks, and the history of the building and historic elements are fantastic. More people need to try this place out, it's great! And if you like ping pong, they have you covered!

I cannot say enough good things about 9th & State and our experience hosting an event here. We were looking for a funky, interesting, laid back place to have our wedding and reception, and this place nailed it. We had so many compliments from people on the incredible space. Parking was easy for guests. Don't even get me started on all of the great bar options for guests. Plus, you can bring in your own caterer for the event, we chose Zaina (which will be a different, equally awesome review). Most of all, the owners, Heather and Sean made my husband and I feel like family through the whole planning process and especially on our big day. Our bartenders were amazing for the event as well.I would recommend 9th & State for any event where you are looking for a one-of-a-kind space and experience.

If you drive by without stopping, you'll overlook it and miss it. But if you take the time to pop in, you'll appreciate the beautiful high vaulted ceilings, the art collection on display, and realize just how amazing of a bar this place is.Beautifully crafted drinks, the owners have done a marvelous job to create tastes that are just perfect. They have a full bar, with spirits from local distilleries. They're knowledgeable in mixology, so if you don't see something you like on the menu, they'll make whatever your heart desires.I always love seeing what kind of glasses they're going to use to serve the drinks with, fun and quirky glasses with a very "grandma chic" vibe. Oh, they also do Golden Girl nights--amazing.

Wow! What a cool space and fun experience. 9th and State is located in an original West Bottoms building from the heydays of the stockyards. Originally hosting the Pabst Brewery taproom and ballroom - look for the original tile mosaic as you enter- as part of "The Worlds Wettest Block", the street where dry Kansas came to drink. The building has also played host to a casino, The famous jazz bar The Antlers Club and most recently a fetish club. The large space has now been transformed into a well curated piece of history with lots of art and artifacts to admire, an area for live music, 2 ping-pong tables centrally placed, a cool old safe, several small tables and lounging areas, and a cool old 1950's era long bar and stools and a beautiful tile floor. A fantastic aesthetic accentuating KC's rich and vibrant history!I popped in on a Saturday afternoon and of course I had to order a Pabst Blue Ribbon. A small group were playing some serious ping-pong while I was able to have a great little conversation and history lesson from owner and bartender Sean. I'm very eager to Uber down to the Bottoms soon and enjoy some live jazz, folk or bluegrass music and sample their craft cocktail menu. When you go, ask how their "Boobie Trap" cocktail got it's name.Bottom Line - Great people tastefully preserving Kansas City history in a cool environment while having fun doing it!
