The best fresh roll I ever had. They used tiny noodles and lots of lettuce. Their peanut sauce went great with the crunchy leafy and chewy rice paper. I also had the red curry with fried tofu over white rice. It was pretty good. But it was phenomenal with the Thai chili fish sauce. Just the right amount of warm and tasty alone, but a very elegant heat with the chili sauce. Nah... it's a nose running, tongue burning, head buzzing goodness you crave from mama's cooking. I also ordered the green curry and rad nah (with hope of heavy gravy) with seafood to go. I cannot wait to try them.

First glance, you'll miss this hidden pearl. We loved the owners and service. The taste and spices they used were authentic. Our food was exactly what was expected, and they appeased to our party of 7 kids and parents.Yes it is family friendly and there are a lot of tables for customers. Ask for their spice rack because it truly is a blessing having homemade chilis and chili oil. Our bill was around 100$ and I thought this was most impressive especially with appetizers and many courses. We will be back!

We have ordered from here on DoorDash and really enjoyed our meals. We have been house hunting and were looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice meal and saw that Kamlai was close by. As we entered, we were welcomed by a nice gentleman who told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We were given menus and waters then were told that we could choose between the spring rolls or crab rangoons as a free appetizer. We chose the latter were amazed by the taste of both the rangoons and the amazing sweet and sour plum sauce. We ordered a Thai iced tea, garlic delight, phad thai and a side of peanut sauce. They seemed to get a lot of take out orders which is great as I know they recently opened and I saw them on DoorDash and UberEats. They had a video playing on the TV near us about Korean street food so I was watching that while waiting for our food to arrive. Not too long after, our food arrived piping out. I had originally asked for my phad thai to be made with 5 stars spice level, however the cook who brought it out was sweet and brought a spice rack for me. We were very happy with our food and left full. The two that work here are very sweet and you can tell that they are wanting to make sure that customers are satisfied. A great Thai spot in Tacoma and looking forward to coming back!

This place was previously known as Sweet Rice but got new owners!Ambiance: a lot of fake plants and clean tables.Service: attentive and food comes out super quick! I also really, really love hearing the clattering of the wok from the kitchen. Dishes are made to order.Food: this is where I give them truly 5 stars. I've been hard pressed to find a pad thai like theirs: noodles chewy and not broken into little pieces, sweet and spicy with just enough tamarind and saltiness. I think I found a new favorite! Their red curry is also exceptional; it is more than an ordinary red curry with layers of robust flavors. Comes with a bowl of rice. We also got a small order of free crab rangoons for their grand opening.I will be back!

Just tried out this new Thai spot on 84th and Hosmer in Tacoma. It's a family-owned place, and they're super nice - they even hooked us up with 2 free matcha teas while we waited. The food was good, decent portion sizes, but I've gotta say, it kinda blended in with the rest of the Thai joints in the area. You know how some Thai places start tasting like the same old, same old? Well, this one kinda fell into that category. Don't get me wrong, the food was decent, and the prices were better than most Thai spots around here. I'm giving it 3 Stars because It might be cause Im always ordering the same thing? So maybe the reason they taste like everyone elses. I also asked for extra cilantro and did not get it. If you're in the mood for some standard Thai fare at a decent price, it's worth checking out. But if you're hoping for something that stands out from the crowd, might want to explore other options.

Best curry in Tacoma and the lowest price. This new Thai restaurant has a slightly smaller menu but makes up for it in making their dishes delicious. Had the Crab Rangoon, yellow and Musseman curries. They were very good. Spicing was made to our taste and came as a generous portion. Rice was soft and fragrant, definitely fresh! Service was good and friendly. It was slightly cool in the restaurant but we just left our coats on. It was quiet today but as people find this restaurant I'm sure that will definitely change.PEANUTS and TREE NUTS are used in multiple dishes here so if your allergic then ordering in or to go be sure and speak with the cook. Kids menu: yesMyFitnessPal: No but close recipes are to be found.Beverages: Coke products and see menu photos Recommend the curries, but it's all good

Used to frequent another Thai place down the street, but it was never was the same from when the old owners had it. While looking for a new place, stumbled across Kamlai, which used to be the old Sweet Rice location. They do have some parking spots but not many since the restaurant is located in like a mini strip mall with a few more business to the left of them. The owners of Kamlai are so sweet and kind! I place to go orders here a few times a month and haven't ran into any issues. As others mentioned, the location isn't the best being on Hosmer, but customers still swing by. The restaurant itself is quite spacious but on the outside pretty unassuming but recently got a green sign put up that says its Kamlai. Kinda plain interior, but what does that matter when the food is good?!Thai Iced Tea is a must get drink for a treat, which I always forget to take a photo of. Lol. Oops.
