My Husband suggested we eat here as we had conducted business nearby. We dined in on Friday 2/9/24. The restaurant was bright and very clean. Love all the decor and esthetics of the restaurant. It's gorgeous. The ambiance is very comfortable. We were fortunate to come in at a perfect time during their soft opening. We learned this is a family run business and had fairly opened up in this location in Tacoma. They previously were located in West Seattle. We ordered 2 Beautiful bentos:1) Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura $19.95.2) Beef Teriyaki and Tempura $20.95.The Bentos were served with rice, miso soup, sunomono salad and a seasonal fruit. We were both so delighted that the food was so delicious and tasty. Flavorful and not too sweet or salty. Perfectly made! It was BOMB.COM!!! I could tell that the flavors were slightly different (fresh and tweaked) - All positive! So Loved it! For the price we paid. The portions served was well worth it 100%.Our server, the owners beautiful daughter (forgot her name-please forgive me) was truly pleasant and kind. She wore a pretty smile while happily serving us.Our server surprised us with a cute little dessert (don't know the name). It was crispy on the exterior filled with vanilla ice cream with cherry on top. It was not too sweet. It was delicious and the perfect amount too! That was truly sweet of her. What an awesome way to end our lunch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!We definitely will return again and again!! =))

I forgot o take a photo of the food before we devoured it. Pictures is a Philly roll ( make sure to ask for cucumber and avocado in it) I also had the red tuna sushi, Kobe roll and another roll Kamei special roll. All of the food was fantastic! The tuna melted in my mouth and had a buttery taste to it, all of the sushi was fresh and well plated. One of my new favorite spots! Our server was attentive and helpful with recommendations.

Overall, a solid sushi place. Our server was really nice and on top of dishes, water etc. Interior wise, clean and new. My husband said the decoration was a bit tacky but honestly, I didn't hate it. Food wise, I wasn't hugely excited about the first 3 rolls but that's probably because I'm not big on a lot of tobiko/masago and every single roll had copious amounts of it. In fact, my husband really enjoyed them! The last two rolls we got I enjoyed more. They were slightly bigger, too. We enjoyed the fish to rice ratio, as well, they don't skimp. Our only true con is the Vietnamese coffee - it was flavored coffee and it tasted off. I've never not finished a cup and I couldn't do it here. Overall, I recommend!

My hubby was the one that chose the place to eat tonight. May I say Great Choice!I hadn't had sushi for a long while and this place was in our neck of the woods. From the outside, you would think it's a typical teriyaki corner spot but when you walk in, oh my it is spacious and nice and clean and so cute!! I really like the way it felt in here. The staff were nice (you could tell it's a family run business. ) The food was great. We ordered the agedashi tofu and soft shell crab. So flavorful. The tofu was presented so beautifully and the crab looked like one piece but was already sliced into 4 for easy eating. It same with a cabbage slaw with that delish sesame dressing on it. Yummy!! Then of course the sushi. They use real snow crab. Not imitation crab meat!! It's so delicate and tasty!! I ate slow to savor every bite. They look to be fairly new to the area so it's just a matter of time before they start getting busy. This place is a hidden gem for now but not for long. Quality food. They put love in it! You can tell. If you're in the area, stop by. Just know they don't have Uni but that's okay. They're still yummy.

Came in on Mother's Day and it's a cute little restaurant. Only half the restaurant was open for seating and all the tables were full. I had called ahead of time and they let me know they could save me a table since we would be there within 10 mins. The service was good and the food was delicious! They also have gluten free soy sauce and will warn you if there's gluten in your dish so that was nice! We will be back, it's so good and reasonably priced!

When FRANK B has craving for taste of the orient it's KAMEI SUSHI that is my go to joint. I'm a big fan of the beef Yakisoba light on the cabbage and a side of Tako Sushi, that's octopus for you troglodytes! Family business treating me like a god every time which is always appreciated. Customer service is huge and I love just as mush as the food. Like most authentic sushi joints you can watch the chef carve up your sushi needs right before your eyes.Anyways I'm sure you'll find something to consume and you'll LOVE IT!

This place was so good.. probably the best sushi bento box I've ever had.. they relocated from West Seattle.. spacious area but seem to maybe be a little short-staffed when we were there, but it also wasn't very busy so we didn't wait too long. Waitress was very nice and the chefs did a great job with presentation, Will be back for sure.

Wanted to try this place after hearing about them from friends. Apparently, they used to be in West Seattle and relocated to Tacoma. Anyhow, everything dish that we ordered was just plain delicious.. I loved their salmon skin salad! If you're in the area and enjoy tasty sushi, please give this place a try.

Just ate here for the second time in 3 days. I've been missing great Japanese food. When I moved to Tacoma, Miyabi/Wabi Sabi was still around, but since they closed I have missed having a Japanese restaurant that could be my go to for great Japanese food. Kamei Sushi is now that place for me. Over the 2 visits we've tried tempura, sashimi, pork teriyaki, beef teriyaki, dragon roll and seafood nabeyaki udon. Absolutely everything was properly prepared, delicious and satisfying! I love a family owned and run restaurant and you really want this family to cook for you! So, if you miss Miyabi, go to Kamei Sushi! You can thank me later

This place was amazing! I've been looking for good sushi and Japanese in the area, and we actually drove 30 minutes each way to come here. It was well worth it. They have a huge menu beyond just the sushi, so plenty of options! It's a family owned business and we got to speak to the owner, his wife, and his daughter. They were very attentive and friendly and had great service. I will absolutely be coming back!
