We went to their stand at the fair, which is the only reason why I'm giving benefit of the doubt. Otherwise I'd give 1 star. The staff didn't seem to want to take orders, whatever, long days working the fair, I get it. But what got me was the food. At least, how they served it. Truly had me gagging. The plate we got was the kahlua pork, which I was very excited for. This is NOT that. It was entirely grease and oil, it was disgusting. Couldn't even eat it. People around us were asking if it was supposed to come like that, I didn't even know what to tell them since we've never had food from this business before. It took more than 10 minutes to get all the grease and oil out, even then it just wasn't edible. So disappointed.

Delicious lunch plate. Price was great for what you get. I ordered a Huli Chicken plate, I got two large pieces of chicken, two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The only criticism I got was that my Mac salad had a large chunk of onion. Other than that, it was delicious. Quick and fast service too. Would highly recommend.

I tried Kama'Aina a little while back during the Washington State Fair. I haven't been to this Ruston area location yet, but I've always been curious about it! At their fair stand, I got the spam musubi and fried saimin. The fried saimin was pretty good! For $12 I got a huge plate of noodles, veggies, and meat. It was really good - tons of grease, but tons of flavor. I didn't get it because I was being health conscious, let's be real. The spam musubi fell incredibly short for me. It was suuuper bland and the rice was very mushy. I'm assuming that since it was the fair it was probably sitting out for too long or the regular attention that goes into making them wasn't there due to such a big crowd... That said, I'm definitely making a point to try their Tacoma location in it's entirety so I can see what they're all about! They've got a prime location near Ruston where you can easily grab food and go make a picnic out of your afternoon (assuming it's not raining). Will report back!

I can't believe how good this place is. People are definitely sleeping on this find. It's been on our radar for months, and the stars finally aligned with our schedules so we could make a visit. We had mixed feelings seeing prior reviews, but after reading them realised people are overly critical and leave reviews without good justification. We hopped over on a Tuesday around 230p. No wait ahead of us. The window was open and we were quickly greeted by a super nice employee. The lack of photos and menu info on Yelp had us anxious to see what the actual store front had to offer on the menu. We were excited by the large variety they offered with unique local twists. We had hoped with a name like theirs and the menu options, they would strive for authenticity. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The prices seemed fair since we were unsure what the portions would entail, but we both ate with sodas for less than $25. They give you a number and you wait for it to be called. They take cards which is also great. We ordered the Northshore Poke Bowl and Da Bremerton combo. All I can say is, you better come hungry. That bag felt like 10lbs worth of food. I was shocked at how much food they shelled out for the price, but the ultimate test...is it quality for the money? The answer is a heck yes. I was stunned by the unique flavor and homemade quality of the food. I've seen people complain here that it didn't feel authentic; and maybe it doesn't feel like "restaurants back in Hawaii" but I think it's better. It's like going over to your Hawaiian best friend's house and having their mom make dinner. My Northshore bowl offered the most luxurious tuna I've ever had, (I chose the spicy mayo one, back heat and smooth - great flavor) with super silky and moist pork and a chicken thigh that was out of this world. All on a bed of furikake rice which was easily better than any poke bowl I'd ever had. My husband's came with Portuguese sausage, pulled pork, pan seared beef, and garlic chicken. I was astounded by the amount of protein for the price. They're open 11-5 on Ruston Way by the pier. Don't blink or you might miss!!

$5 spam musubi was the worst. Was so excited to see this at the fair but regret purchasing it. Tiniest slice of spam on top of a huge mountain of rice. There was also no sauce like normal spam musubi so it was very dry :(

Drove past here on my way to the park and decided to loop back around on my way out. They were doing some kind of fundraiser or something. They only had one "plate" and they were 24$ each. I was like ehh kinda steep but got 2 for me and my boyfriend. This plate had Mac salad that was so creamy. The white rice with some kind of brown sauce on it that was a great added touch to the rice. The pulled pork that was insanely juicy and yummy. The chicken thigh was boneless and so juicy. The noodles were seasoned great and veggies in the noodles were cooked good. They gave us 2 Dasani water bottles with the 2 plates which was kind. I cannot wait to come back once they have their regular menu.

I had high hopes for this place. I bought the mixed bbq plate. Worst $19 I ever spent. Cheap fatty/tuff meat. Rice was chewy, macaroni scoop was the size of my pinky but had mammoth size onions in it. Not to mention the fork and knifes they provided literally bend when trying to grab anything...couldn't even finish my food Being completely honest. I hope the owner reevaluates standards as I don't see this place staying for long.

These folks had a food truck at Victorian Country Christmas. My wife and I checked out all the food vendors and picked them. We both had, if I remember how to spell it, a Samini plate. Very tasty. Looking forward to eating at their place on Ruston Way.

I read the reviews prior to coming here and wish I trusted my gut. I got the chicken trio, opened the container, and everything looked great. However, upon first bite of the mac salad, I realized the ABSURD amount of SALT that these guys had in their food!! The garlic chicken = salty, the normal chicken = salty, the chicken katsu wasn't as bad but that might be because I submerged it in katsu sauce. I'm gonna be honest, I've literally dropped a whole salt shaker into my food before and it still wasn't nearly as salty as what I tasted today. The mac was ridiculously laced with sodium and despite this, they still put additional salt on top of it!! I originally thought it was paprika but guess what? It was just more salt... WHY?! The workers there need to taste what they're doing because they really killing people out here. One whole scoop of my rice was even salty! How and why?!? What did I do in my lifetime to anger the salt Gods?!? In the end, I ate most of it because I spent $15 on it. It'll probably take a whole week of drinking water constantly to flush all this sodium out of my body. Either way, I felt this meal probably took a year off my lifespan. I will not be going back and I advise everyone to avoid this place as well. This is a pretty simple fix though. Take the salt away from your employees or whoever preps the food because seriously, that was beyond ridiculous. There haven't been many times of which I asked for a refund on food but this definitely should've been one of those times. I'm very disappointed with my experience here and will not recommend this place to anyone I know. P. S. I'm pretty sure I have high blood pressure now because of this meal.
