The food was very good. Ingredients were fresh and the menu had the perfect amount of variety. Very clean and nice people. Will definitely go again. Bonus: karaoke every other Friday!

Poor service. Unprepared with food selection. Before we went to the restaurant the phone was never answered. So naturally we just went there. Definitely not a first choice to go to.The only good thing was the friendliness of staff nothing else.

Our experience here staggered between ups and downs. My family and I stopped by one night for a takeout dinner on our way home from hiking at Mount Rainier. Having only eaten snacks throughout the day, we were more than ready for sushi, teriyaki and yakisoba! With the current times, Kaihana is only serving curbside pickup and all orders must be placed over the phone. While they are taking great safety measures, this is where the first hiccup begins. We referred to the full menu on their website, but were directed to their Facebook page for a true account of what was actually available. The menu on Facebook didn't have any item descriptions though, so we had to constantly cross-reference it with the one on their website. Although minor, this ended up being more complex than it should have been. From the parking lot, we called in our order and were informed about a 20-30 minute wait. During this time, the continuous stream of customers dropping by to pick up their orders was a promising sign. Since we visited on a Thursday, our visit came with a perk! With any entree order, we received a teriyaki chicken kid's meal for FREE. This sounded almost too good to be true, and that unfortunately was the case. The kid's meal itself was a nice serving of chicken, rice and gyoza, but the quality fell below our expectations. Several slices of chicken were completely drowning in a thick teriyaki sauce that was also overly salty. It was like they just poured the sauce straight from a bottle. Most restaurants tend to marinate their meat and may drizzle a little sauce on top, but I have never seen the meat drenched in it. For my main entree, I had ordered the beef teriyaki bento ($17), which was equally disappointing in the same regard. The California Roll, fried gyoza and salad in my bento were all good, but nothing could save the beef. My family ordered chicken yakisoba, spicy California Roll and an albacore roll, which they enjoyed. The order of yakisoba was huge and we took the leftovers home for lunch the next day. Their rolls are also large and stuffed generously with fresh ingredients, making them the highlight of our meal. If I came here again, I'd probably stick to ordering only off of the sushi menu. They have a vast selection of specialty rolls, which is one indication that sushi is their strong suit.On a positive note, I do appreciate the safety measures and friendly service during our visit. The waitress who brought our orders to our car was wearing a mask, genuinely greeted us and was quite cheerful despite constantly running in and out of the restaurant to deliver to customers. However, in my honest opinion, our experience here was just okay and sadly did not match up to our favorite local Japanese restaurants. [3.25 stars]

Wow! I stopped here recently when I was early to pick up some friends from nearby Seatac Airport. I was looking for a quick in and out, and trying to satisfy a sushi craving. This place fired on all cylinders. What this restaurant lacks in character, it makes up for in truly delicious sushi. I had a Des Moines roll, hamachi nigiri, some miso soup, and a Japanese beer. It was an amazing meal, and I only wish I had had time to stay for more. My only gripe is that it was freezing cold in here. Somebody really needs to turn on the heat. Other than that, next time I'm craving Hamachi and I find myself anywhere south of the Seattle City Limits I will definitely be returning.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AS A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER.Tried calling one Sunday around 730pm to order food and the phone call would not go through. After 4-5 attempts, decided to drive to the restaurant to place the order since the online order websites don't offer the full menu. Turns out the restaurant was closed earlier than the posted hours on the website and Google but with no obvious explanation.Next Sunday called at 4pm to check the hours of the restaurant before we picked our order out and was told that the reason why the restaurant was closed the previous Sunday was due to them running out of fish - they purposefully close and stop taking orders when they run out. Makes sense for the type of restaurant, but would have been nice if the phone system could provide that information. Told the woman on the phone we would call back once we had figured out what we wanted to eat.Called back at 5pm and they would NOT answer the phone. Spent 15 minutes calling over and over again and the call either never went through, or they would not pick up.I would highly discourage anyone supporting a business that operates this way. If you do decide to become a patron of this establishment, do so at your own peril. I will never attempt to go back.

I love this hidden gem and will def be back! If you're looking for a relaxed and welcoming neighborhood spot with great food, this is it. The sushi was excellent. I got a Cali roll and something with salmon and cream cheese that was tempura fried (I forget the name), chefs kiss!! The owner and sushi chef were so nice and very personable, it made it feel really welcoming. They serve a wide variety of drinks (I saw margarita glasses) and are bringing karaoke back soon.

Super fresh, so quick, you can smell how fresh the food is the moment you open the door to this place. I'm always shocked by how quick they are even though they get fairly busy. Food is delicious of course, very friendly staff, a cute place to just sit down and eat.
