Kahu Hawaiian BBQ

It's good if you're craving a taste of "home" (Hawai'i)Similar to L & L's The sauces aren't like home but shoyu is a good alternative. The kastu sauce is not kastu sauce- it's just ketchup & Tabasco. The teriyaki sauce is ok.

Came with a couple sides of rice and a side of Mac salad. I thought the food was solid - probably a 4 which is my main thing when I go out to eat. The staff wasn't very engaging which is always a little strange when you go to a food establishment. The prices are normal for today's market, but that is pretty high. They do provide a pretty good portion size for their meals.Edit: returned to try their BBQ Beef - it was your traditional Hawaiian BBQ Beef which is good, but nothing special. I enjoyed it with their teriyaki sauce and I topped the BBQ Chicken with their katsu sauce. I could interchange the two sauces as I think they're both delicious! Staff morale appeared higher this go around with was nice to see!

Quick and tasty. Big ole portions so worth the money. I ate at like 5 pm and I'm still full (it's 2 am rn). Love Hawaiian bbq

The food was okay. Hawaiian food seems to be limited in the area we stayed in- I think there was one other option but this place had a higher rating. The cashier was friendly and gave us her thoughts on what we should order- they have something on their menu with the word fire on it and we were unsure if it would be spicy or what... it wasn't spicy but had more of a Latino spin to it. There were 5 of us so we got to taste a little bit of everything. I suppose you can compare it to L&L- it will do the job to satisfy your craving. The chicken katsu's chicken was def on the thin side and their katsu sauce wasn't right. I happened to use the restroom and that is probably what threw me off. They had two stalls in the ladies room and one stall had a big puddle of water on the floor. In my first 2 min of being there, that was one of the things I saw that didn't leave a good impression.

The food is absolutely delicious! From first bite to the end...tasty. I had mine delivered, so I can't speak to service in the restaurant, but delivery was quick and food is still hot, so I'm going to say it is also amazing!

Hawaiian BBQ done rightThis was our first visit to Kahu Hawaiian BBQ and we were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of food, this place is doing Hawaiian BBQ right.On this visit we shared the teriyaki chicken, macaroni salad, and crab rangoon. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and flavorful and the portion sizes are large enough for two. I really appreciate that we were given extra teriyaki sauce was provided without even asking. I recommend you stop by and enjoy a delicious meal.

This place was DELICIOUS!!!! We stopped here and we're starving and left so stuffed and we still had half the plate left!! The portion is insane for the price and you will have food for the next day or later that day ;) Cannot stress how delicious the meats were but the mac salad was on the overly creamy side but still delightful. The cashier seemed as she was not fully paying attention and was talking to other people but there's a screen on the inside (not drive thru) so you can check your order is correct before paying. The food did take a while for a place with a drive thru but it was so good I can't complain.Very casual dining with a lot of seating in the lobby. Don't know if they have a restroom or not as I didn't need to go at the time. If you're ever in the area you should stop in or even try the drive thru! i

One year after our last visit, and still as consistent as ever. Very much worth the 20 min drive! I have no idea how they've achieved perfection on the Chicken Katsu and the macaroni salad, but it will keep me coming back!

The Phoenix area has a surprising number of Hawaiian BBQ restaurants: in the area for work, I went with delivery from Kahu for dinner after a long day of travel.The menu covers the standards: plates of white rice + macaroni salad with a few choices of protein (BBQ beef, kalua pork, chicken katsu/teriyaki chicken/BBQ chicken, seafood, et al). My kalua pork plate (shredded and smoked pork + chicken) was an overflowing container and enough for two solid meals.For the size of the meal, the quality doesn't suffer: the rice was fluffy, the macaroni salad creamy without going too heavy on the mayo, the pork smokey, and the fire chicken tender and zesty.

THIS PLACE IS FIRE!! Whatever you order it's DELICIOUS. Best Hawaiian food I've had in 15years Biggest plate is literally under $15, which is so big that I couldn't finish, and I eat a lot.. Definitely worth a try. Customer service is very pleasant, dining area is also comfortable.I ordered mixed BBQ plate
