Jus' Mac

My family and I have been coming to Jus Mac for over a decade (close to 12 years or so). Taking that into consideration, creating this review makes me extremely sad. The food, itself, hasn't changed much over the years. I don't consider that a problem. It is still a good Mac with some nice variety. For years, though, they specialized in macaroni and cheese. And they were great at it. Now, though, they have diversified their menu to add sandwiches, wings, burgers, etc. I haven't tried any of the new items, so I can't speak to those. But, I can say that I honestly believe that taking their eye off of the prize that was mac and cheese has caused some major issues. Adding new items means that they felt the need to remove others...and that means some of the really interesting varieties of mac and cheese. For years, my wife ate a Mexican mac, my son ate the Homerun, and I ate the Cowboy. Mine was removed from the menu YEARS ago, and I found a couple of others that I liked. The others, not so much. Technically, the Mexican could almost be recreated using the add ons. But, today, they were out of avocado. Things happen, I can understand that to an extent. My son has no way to recreate his preferred dish. Along with a lot of other places, they have removed their soda fountain. Unlike other places, they are not filing drinks in the back, but are charging you for canned or bottled drinks. Ok. Not a problem. But, you want water? You have to buy bottled water...with their no cash policy. We used a credit card to order a bottle of water. Even with a working water fountain to fill up water cups. My son improvised (because he is as passive aggressive as I) and filled up a plastic to-go container with water from the fountain. The place used to be vibrant, and I've noticed some things being "run down" over the years, as expected. However, on this latest (and sadly, last) visit, the place was devoid of character. The tables have all been bolted to the floor, and an entire wall was completely blank. It used to be covered with news articles, their menu, and a television. Today, there are un-repaired holes from where things once were. It's just plain sad. I have received some AMAZING service at Jus Mac over the years and was expecting the same. Nope. The service was completely impersonal and cold. Their no cash policy is a joke, and feels shady. There were dirty tables when we walked in...and we were the only customers in the place when we arrived. It was pretty clear that they had time to clean up after previous customers, but chose not to do so. The music is unnervingly loud and is a bunch of techno remixes of 80s music. I dig 80s music. Leave it alone. I am really sad that this place, once enjoyed by my family (and we would drive 30 miles each way to get it) has fallen into the depths of "just another" restaurant. I feel that they are probably on their way out. I'll be sad to see them go...but only when I think of the memories that we made and NOT from this last experience. Now, where is the next place that will specialize in macaroni and cheese?

My recent experience with barbecue mac and cheese was nothing short of a culinary disaster. The taste was off, and it left a lingering unpleasant aftertaste. To make matters worse, it not only disappointed our taste buds but also led to some in my group falling ill. The combination of poor flavor and the subsequent health issues made this dish a regrettable choice. I strongly advise against trying it at this place.

I dined in with some friends on my first visit here and loved the experience. Service was great, everything was fresh, and you could tell how good the quality of the food was. The thing is though, you gotta be careful with your choices. I got the PITMASTER, and as a bbq lover, it was better than anything I expected out of this place. It was delicious, flavorful and a great combination! I was so happy with my experience! However, my friend got the RUSTIC and said it bored her lol you really have to be careful because this place is kinda hit or miss with the mac and cheese flavors. Also, I would recommend getting the 1/2lb serving, unless you're a mac and cheese fanatic. I could only eat half of the 1lb serving and had to take the rest home. A friend got the boneless wings and made me jealous I didn't get some for myself. It had a great, crunchy breading despite being covered in sauce. They were also LARGE! Bigger than any boneless wings I've seen anywhere! Definitely worth trying if you dine in. I came back to try the regular wings since the boneless were so good. Unfortunately, I got the wings to-go on my next visit and they were very disappointing. They packed them in an aluminum container, so I think they kept cooking during my 20 minute drive home. By the time I got to eat them, they were over cooked and dry. I don't even remember what they tasted like because I forced myself to finish them. I really don't know why they would use aluminum packaging for wings, but I'm convinced that's the only reason my wings were bad. I'm willing to give them another shot dining in since the fresh boneless wings were fantastic! But be warned if you get the wings to go.

This place is amazing and I look forward to trying more ol items on their menu! Chicken and waffles was an amazing experience

This place has some gooooood mac n cheese! I definitely recommend, they have all sorts of flavors.The service was good and fast! The guy that took our order came and brought us our Mac n cheese instead of just calling out to us, so that was nice.The place was quiet and didn't have obnoxiously loud music. And a lot of indoor and outdoor seating! I would 10/10 recommend this place!:)

Absolutely disgusting. I tried to mix it around to see if the creaminess would be at the bottom, but it was just more water. The sauce tastes like powder. I used to get this plate all the time. The owner must've changed within the past 2 years because this place is worse than Golden Corral Mac n cheese They also do not accept cash. No problem for some, but weird that they won't take legal tender at a business establishment.Lastly, if you order online, they automatically will grat you 15% for a tip. Even though nobody took your order personally.I am never coming back.

What in the world. They took so many of the good items off the menu. The food was lukewarm at best, and they took the fountain drinks away. All drinks are upwards of $2.50 and very small. I ended up drinking water out of a to-go box to minimize the already $80 I spent alone on food... for 3 meals (Without tip and tax).This place used to be great, but I don't think I'm coming back after this one.

Very disappointed! It's always been an annual tradition to make the drive to Houston for my child's birthday at Jus Mac - we invite the family and friends to join us- it's a big deal every year for my child. After our experience today, even my child said "No more Jus Mac for my bday" sadly. We always order our favorite very diverse dishes at Jus Mac - from radical to traditional - the pepperoni, Quattro, popeye, and Tex-mexi but yet today was told they took them off the menu! The audacity! The best menu items are no longer being offered!? Why? Who would purposely remove such good dishes? Even the customer service was unfriendly. I got a very cold "I'm new here, don't know what you're talking about, never heard of it". It wasn't until I called the Midtown location did it sink in that Jus Mac actually ruined their restaurants by taking all the good items off the menu! Please please please put them back on the menu! The atmosphere was so empty and sad with blank walls, nothing is the same and we miss our beloved Jus Mac. Time to pick a new tradition to bring all our friends and family to now. I do not recommend Jus Mac anymore sadly.

Pretty good Mac and cheese for the price. Would definitely recommend the 1lb. Parking is onsite and the service was fast.

Found this little spot by chance. I had not been a restaurant Mac and cheese fan until I tried their Spinach and Artichoke Mac and cheese. Had the house dry rub wings which were a little salty and cooked hard past well done. lol. I would have liked it to be a bit cleaner, however I will come back to try another entree because that Mac and cheese was definitely cheese'n!!
