Hidden gem, located immediately on the south side of Vinh Hung Supermarket. There are plenty of delicious looking desserts to be had. Wish I could say a few words about them, but I have not tried any yet. I had only bought pan de sal here; I must say, they are the best in town.I came here at 2pm today. I asked Mel, the baker, if there were any hot pan de sal; he told me he had baked a batch an hour ago. I mentioned to Mel that I like the hot ones. He proceeded to ask me if I could spare 15 minutes. He, then, started baking a new batch for me. I was pleasantly surprised of how accommodating Mel was. What a nice man!In the meantime, I went next door and shopped. By the time I got done grocery shopping, I came back to check on my order. They were ready just as Mel had stated. What a great service! I sure appreciate Mel going the extra mile so I could have my hot pan de sal. A 5 star rating for Mel! As for the pan de sal, sweet tasting, mouth watering, piping hot right out of the oven! Definitely will be coming back for more delicious pan de sal. Highly recommend this bakery!

Nomz! If I only knew they had buko pandan hopia before I drove away I would've got some. I went with my go-to, hopia baboy and added an ube to go. I haven't tried the ube yet but the baboy was perfectly flaky and not too overly sweet. You can tell this place is doing well since she gave me the few baboy left over from a larger batch. It didn't matter though it was still better than any of the bakeries that are typically located in your Island Pacific or elsewhere. Julie's is located inside Vinh Hung Supermarket so it's a nice quick stopover on the way to grab some fresh produce or other Asian food items like noodles or tofu. What a nice surprise to find! Will definitely be back to try that buko pandan hopia.

I'm surprised that there aren't more reviews for this establishment. I know it's quite popular amongst the Asian community, Filipinos especially of course. I was first introduced to Julie's Desserts & Bakery in 2005. I LOOOOVVVEEE the hopias here! I always walk away with at least a dozen each of the ube & pandan flavored ones...a bargain at 3 for $1! Another favorite here are the bibingkas. Made with rice flour & coconut milk & baked in banana leaf, this version is the best I've ever had. Unfortunately for me, I came too early today and there were none to be had :(. But no worries, I will be back!

My husband bought their Buko Pie (young coconut) ... you can only count how many young coconuts are in the pie , the rest are all cornstarch mix with water?? with sugar?? ... this is the worst Buko Pie we have ever tasted.. pls don't sacrifice taste for profit.., that is how you lose customers

Tucked inside a little Vietnamese mall is Julie's Bakery.I first experienced her baked goods at a swap meet in La Puente in the form of these fried rice balls. They didn't seem like a big deal at first, being only 2 bucks, but when we tried them, man we were hooked! So much so that we looked up directions on how to get to this place, which resides in San Diego, a 2 hour drive, if we were to go. Fast forward a year and we take a San Diego trip and we find this placed tucked inside a small strip mall, within a grocery store.Everything here is simply great. The fried rice balls, the little hoopa cookies (the colorful cookies with so much flavor.. I think that's how to spell it...), a white little treat that tastes a little like dough but sweet (they sold tis by the ton it seems, I forgot the name), and my personal favorite, the bread with mixed in fruit, almost like a marble. So delicious that we'll be stopping by every chance we get to visit SD. P.S. If you take a trip down here yourself and want a fun way back to the freeways, with less traffic, and great scenery? Take the 52 back to the 5, you wont regret it.
