JT’s Genuine Sandwich Shop

Um, excuse me but a tiny sandwich shop on Elston has no business being this incredible. Why did this place not exist when I lived over there? I would have given them half my paycheck. The Fried Pickle Spears are some of the best I have ever had. Spear cut (you know, the superior cut) and coated in this super crispy batter that just shatters when you bite into it - phenomenal.My sandwich was Pork & Greens (shaved roast pork loin, grilled rapini, provolone cheese,Calabrian chili aioli, sesame seed roll, pan jus). The bitterness of the rapini just cuts through the richness of the meat, and the juices mix everything together into one amazing bite. I was in foodie heaven for the whole time I was eating! I found a new place to love when I visit Chicago, thanks for being so awesome JT!

Any restaurant with this many 5-star reviews surely earns it, and by my standards, JT's definitely deserves my 5-star award. There's nothing I enjoy more than a modest storefront kind of place that surprises me with spectacularly good food. No restaurant that I know of serves better sandwiches in Chicago than JT's.I went yesterday with my two teen-age grandsons, so as first-timers, it was fun to try three different sandwiches. I had the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, a huge piece of pounded pork tenderloin that totally overflowed the tasty bun. The breading was crispy, the meat was flavorful and juicy, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The beer-battered fries were crispy yet tender, and the fried pickles were just the right blend of crispy breading with crispy but juicy pickle spears.We also had the fried chicken sandwich, which I'll probably order for myself next time. I don't understand why more restaurants don't use the dark meat from thighs, as does JT's. Prepared with a buttermilk brine, it makes for a much tastier and juicier piece of chicken, and the breading is perfectly crispy. It is a huge portion. We also tried the pork and greens sandwich, a generous portion of shaved roast pork loin, and provolone cheese - just great.We also had the pleasure of meeting Chris, the owner of this special sandwich shop. What a nice guy, and it is so obvious he cares about your enjoyment of his food. It's a small place, but we had no problem getting a table for the three of us. There was ample street parking along both sides of Elston on the block where JT's is located.These 5 stars are an absolute no-brainer. You will enjoy whatever you order here, guaranteed.

We ordered take out & everything was delicious. Although we thought it would have been better fresh, so next time we're planning to eat there. Was a bit cool / soggy by the time we got it home. We split the chicken sandwich, burger, chili fries and the corn dog. Chicken sandwich may have been my fav but it's close choice. Everything was really good and I'd definitely recommend any of them!

I'm never paying $15 for a burger, unless it's a burger from JT's. Always so dang good, it will make you eat in silence enjoying every morsel.

So I was taking my foster kitty to the vet today when I passed by . Of course I checked with yelp peeps first . All the reviews were stellar. So after the dentist I decided to order online and try them out. I ordered the bean and greens sandwich with the spear fried pickles and fries on the side. My order was ready for me . I was hungry so of course I had to try some fries . Good fries , nothing to write home about. When I got home I tore into that sandwich. It was so good , such a unique combo . White beans , greens and cheese. The bread was very good as well it was a good size sandwich . The pickles were very good with the ranch dressing and the fry dip was very good . It reminded me of a thousand island dressing. I will definitely be back to try the turkey sandwich and the chicken salad sounded really good as well . So if you're in the area of Irving park and Elston check them out.

Food is amazing, and it's tucked into a great spot for no one to find it. Service was stellar, but a small spot which I love. Old lunchboxes in the back make it feel like big kids without the beer. 10/10

Pretty legit sandwich shop. I don't do sandwiches often, but JTs is the truth. We walked in to place an order for takeout. They had plenty of tables to dine in, we should of have just done that, but had already planned to eat at home. The service was great and the there wasn't that long of a wait to get our food. We ordered a Fried Chicken sandwich, and a Pork & Green sandwich. The fried chicken was perfectly fried and served with maple chipotle mayo. It a very delicious combination. I had just gotten back from a Philadelphia trip and was craving another roast pork sandwich, and what many people don't know is that Philly is not just known for cheesesteaks sandwiches, Philadelphia is also know for their Roast Pork Sandwiches. The Pork & Greens is JTs version of said sandwich. It's served with grilled rapini, provolone cheese, Calabrian chili aioli all in between a sesame seed roll. A truly amazing tasting sandwich. The roast pork had so much flavor, tender and juicy. It feels good knowing that I can now get one of my favorite Philly sandwiches here locally now.

The breaded pork sandwich and the chargrilled Coney dog were absolute fire! A strong, strong recommend. Can't wait to come back.Grats to these guys.

The food is top notch and everything I've tried was incredible. Great ambiance, relaxed setting, and chill tunes playing in the background. Great spot to take a break and enjoy some really special sandwiches.My fav is the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with the fries and their special blend fry sauce. But their fried chicken sandwich and roast pork and greens sandwich are just as good. Soooo good.

The BLT is our go- to whenever we're in Chicago / Irving Park. Other things look good on the menu, and our daughter and son-in-law swear by other items, but once you've found the perfect BLT it's hard to try something else. This place is the best. I even wear a JT's tee!
