So I saw their grand opening sign earlier this week and decided to try out this new teriyaki restaurant. There is a lot of competition in the teriyaki market in Auburn, so I hold these places to high standards. I went in at an off time after lunch. The Good. Service: Good, wasn't able to do a half hot and spicy and regular teriyaki, but was able to add hot sauce to the order. Menu is clear and easy to read. Establishment: Clean, and well kept, then again its barely 1 mo old. The iIffy.First sauce: Watery consistency , salty and not to much flavor from it. Seems its trying to imitate a true Japanese sauce.Hot sauce: terrible, very odd chile flavor that was sickening sweet. Im glad I didn't get a order of hot and spicy. Chicken: I went to this place at about 3pm. The chicken was char broiled and tough. It had seemed it wasn't cooked fresh. Rice: Good, std white rice. Salad: Iceberg style with a decent sesame honey style dressing. Conclusion:Would I go back... No, I there are other establishments that offer a better product.

J's Teriyaki is one of those places you want to love because the owners are amazing. They are always friendly and greet you as you walk thru the door. Customer service is good, except if they both head back to cook your order. Then you kind of just sit by yourself in a empty space. The dinning space is small. There are only a handful of tables and seats. There is little walking room around the restaurant and its very small since the front counter sticks out to accommodate the kitchen. Overall the decor is plain. The food was average. The egg rolls comes in 2 cut in half. Just your plain frozen egg rolls found in the store. The chicken Katsu was tough, overcook. The salad was your normal teriyaki place salad. I enjoy the dressing on the salad. Portion are nice, on the larger side.Overall just an average teriyaki. It's normally pretty fast, because there has never been a line here since I walk by it almost every evening.

A new little place in front of Top Nails in downtown Auburn. A lot of their stuff is gluten free. But ask first. I had the chicken teriyaki. Very good and didnt taste greasy or have teriyaki sauce over poured on it. The hubbs had their pineapple chicken teriyaki. That was really good as well. The sauce for the salad was different than other places but you can tell its home made. The owner is super nice. Great little place. In general, ill definitely go back.

Conveniently located near safeway. They use to have a killer lunch deal for $6.95 before Covid. Now it's 10.95. Menu is very small/ straight forward. I don't think you can dine in but I was planning on eating to go anyways. Ordered the chicken teriyaki and egg roll combo. Egg roll was crispy and had a good amount of filling of meat and cabbage. Sad though it was only one piece cut in half. The salad was just iceberg lettuce with white dressing. Teriyaki was good -- nothing special. Food came out quick. Overall a good portion size for one person but a bit pricy coming out of ~15$. I don't mind it though as it's supporting a family owned establishment

I ordered the Beef & Chicken Teriyaki. The portion wasn't overwhelming to say the least. The taste? Wasn't anything special just like any other Teriyaki you'd order at any of the Korean owned Teriyaki joints you walk into.Reviewing this J's Teriyaki is like reviewing a McDonalds, it's all the same thing!!! The Chicken had some small black burn pieces on the tip of the Chicken strip and black flavor marks accenting the Teriyaki. The beef was nothing special just marinaded with some garlic perhaps but generously covered in sweet Teriyaki sauce. It wasn't anything they might as well have bought the bottled sauce at Safeway next door.As far as the bill It ended up setting me back $9.85. For this kind of a portion I was expecting to pay like $6 or 7.I was curious since I work in the area but won't be going back for seconds, I'd rather settle with Safeway's Teriyaki.

Dropped by last week in the late afternoon and sorry to see that they open at 11am and close at 3pm. I came in the next day at 2pm. Not much time to make a profitable teriyaki business but whatever. Customer service was excellent. The owner took my order and was very personable and professional. The ambience of the diner is very blah but if you're ordering takeout that isn't an issue. I ordered the medium hot teriyaki chicken. The chicken was overwhelmed by the sauce that was too sweet and no heat. The chicken tasted very dry and old. Also there was a weird after-taste that was not pleasant. With the new development ie apts and businesses, etc. going on in downtown Auburn , it would benefit you in the long run to get your food right. I won't be coming in anytime soon, maybe in 6 months I'll see if there are any positive changes in food quality. Good luck
