J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe

Ok so I'm not sure if this got a new name change but I was led here after my search for poke led me to Chamblee. I was a little confused because when I walked in it was like all hot pot seating but when I said I was here for poke they showed me where it was on the menu.I was recommended to order the signature poke bowl and omg so glad I did. I've been on a hunt for true authentic poke that wasn't from a chain or skimped out on toppings and THIS gave me everything I asked for. It was so good, so filling, so fresh. This location is a drive away from where I live originally but I see they have a Duluth location so I'm hoping it tastes just as a good there!

Quaint hotpot with a large menu for toppings and combos to cook. The service was fast and they had everything you needed built into the table for convenience.

The restaurant's vibe was great and the service was awesome. The food i feel is a little overpriced, especially when you can go to other hot pot places and get more for your buck. Their sauce bar is also a little limited, but I like how they are labeled and also like how they give newbies tips on how to mix sauces. Overall good and would come back solely because of how nice the service was

I've been to this place multiple time throughout the years. The establishment looks nice and have a nice decor. The food is pretty good. Sometime the staff drops off the food too fast and don't explain what everything is but that's also one of the plus I like about going to this place lol. Me and whomever I'm with try to guess what we're eating then later ask the waitress what it was, so it's somewhat like a table game lol.

J's is the kind of place I'm very happy I tried but don't feel the need to return to in a hurry.On the plus side, I enjoyed the hot pot experience of choosing and cooking the food piece by piece, the beef bone broth I ordered was tasty, and the portions of veggies and meat were generous. I got mixed meat of lamb and beef, and found the lamb more tender but enjoyed both. Also tried a bite of the vegetarian broth, which was also good.On the negative side, I thought the prices were a bit high, and the service was bad. It didn't even seem that busy, but everything from trying to get seated to getting napkins to (never) getting a refill on water was an issue.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. My favorite is the lamb hotpot plus it's halal since the lamb is from new zealand. The seafood hotpot is divine too with addition of salmon makes it so unique and delicious when cooked in the broth. I highly highly recommend getting the fizou fish balls as a side order. It's a ball with eel inside of it which literally tastes like meat.

Overall this was a really underwhelming experience. I guess in my head I was thinking this was going to be like the other location. I was wrong. The service here was nonchalant. We were at the end of our meal when they asked if we wanted anything else or how everything was. There was only 4 other diners besides us so it wasn't as if they were slammed. My veggies were all fresh and well prepared so that was a big plus. It had a nice variety and I enjoyed the two types of mushrooms. My broth however was the worst I've ever had. It was just water. I was like surely this is a mistake. Then the other broth at the table, which was a different style had the same type of problem. Zero flavor. The sauce bar at this location has a lot less variety then their other spot. My favorites , leek sauce,spicy Thai, and peanut sauce were nowhere to be found. I would not be in a hurry to come back to this location due to so many other options in the area

Overall 4/5: Been going to their other location for years, decided to stop in because it's closer to where i live than the other. Food 4/5: Always fresh and ample ingredients. I got the angus beef combo which came with plenty of vegetables and meat. It was super filling with a lot of variety. I love their sauce bar, there were even suggestions posted for mixings. Super fulfilling and warming, hot pot is one of my favorite comfort foods, and i'm glad this place is still here. Service 4/5: Server was friendly. The plates came out fast, and he made sure our water was always full as well as our broths. Good service. Vibe 4/5: It is very clean in here and a much different interior than their other location in Duluth. It's very nice and modern, and i would definitely bring friends here. Overall, a disappointing showing for J's Mini Hotpot.I'll start off by saying I'm a regular patron of J's Mini Hotpot II in Duluth. However, they are currently closed for renovations and expected to reopen sometime in a October. In the meantime, we had a craving for hotpot and thought, "Of course J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe" would provide be the go to place because it will be just like the other J's...boy were we wrong.I'll start with the good. The decor was nice and comfortable. Much trendier than the Duluth location was, with newer nicer tabletops. The meat selection was plentiful. The meats, shrimp, and vegetable accompaniments were fresh and high quality.On to the bad. The sauce selection is not plentiful as the a Duluth location and the sauces that they do have are not as flavorful or high quality. The service was severely lacking. The server was...a vibe, only really saw him twice during the whole meal and both times he was depressing.The worst thing about this mean, is , perhaps, the most important. The broth was terrible. We had one veggie broth and one beef broth. My beef broth tasted like they washed a piece of meat and they served me the water runoff. The veggie broth straight up tasted like water. I was so confused and disappointed. The broths at the other location have deep wonderful flavorful and I'm absolutely miffed that this location...the DELUXE location...has awful broth as there hotpot base. I cannot wait for the Duluth location to reopen. I haven't been able to find another hotpot location that combines the same quality of food and friendly service as the Duluth location J's Mini Hotpot II.
