John's Grill

We arrived around Noon on a Sunday and were seated right away. The hostess, who was also our server, was pleasant and attentive. Food: my boyfriend's burgers with fries was very good. The eggs on my avocado toast were perfectly poached, and the tomato chutney was divine. However, the toast was small, thin, and burnt and the avocado was not quite ripe like. I chose fruit as a side. It was a sizable portion of fresh fruit, which was a nice surprise.The setting is quaint and peaceful. The sticky floors were gross.For the price, I expect a solid avocado toast and clean floors. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for good service.

I liked John's but felt like they could have done more. For a steakhouse with a view, most people here were in sweat pants and there were a lot of kids. This definitely brought down the overall vibe a lot and made it feel more like a chain restaurant than a steakhouse. I got a shrimp Cesar and it was totally average. The shrimp was seasoned well, the lettuce was fine. It's not really something that can be made spectacular so my expectations weren't too high. The staff was fine. They were attentive but forgot a few things. Our waitress also asked my mother in law how she'd like her salmon cooked which was odd, then doubled down and said that most people order it medium rare...which I doubt. The chocolate mousse was great but served in an odd cup which made it hard to eat out of. I probably won't return on my own but wouldn't turn down a free meal here from the in-laws either.

Very cozy , upscale and quiet restaurant. Wouldn't recommend coming with small kids. Despite having a hungry toddler, the service was prompt and welcoming! Food flavors were top notch, in a dark candle lit ambiance . Portions were on the smaller side and they ran out of the fresh bruschetta on the menu.We had the seafood linguine- 10/10 recommendSalmon PNW- 6/10 . Over priced for a small piece of salmon with roasted potato.Clam chowder- 8/10 . Rich with clams and corn. Studded by bacon bits. Either the bowl was too tiny or we couldn't get enough Wrapped up with a brownie sundae for dessert.

Well this was a pleasant surprise. This is a small, cozy place tucked away off the Speedway, good for a romantic setting. The food was delicious. I had the seafood linguini and my better half had the New York steak and started with clam chowder. Top notch. This is a classy place and the price tag reminds you of it, but it was worth it. Server was fantastic and very friendly. We will make sure to come back.

After a few attempts to celebrate my husband, we finally made it back in and it was awesome! From start to finish the service, atmosphere, drinks and food were spot on. A chef local to the area and a server with my husbands name? You got us! My husband is a lover of the Diamond Knot IPA so it's awesome it's on draft. I was shown the perfect wine to pair with my shrimp salad. Which by the way was my second choice as they had unfortunately ran out of their salmon special, but that just goes to show you how amazing it is. My husbands steak melted in our mouth yet again and my salad had the perfect amount of dressing. Our water glasses stayed full and helped us decide on getting dessert, it was lemon and it was good! They gifted a sundae to my husband for his birthday and promotion gift, super sweet! Looking forward to going back soon! MUST TRY! Remember to make reservations to ensure a nice seat!

Last night was our second visit to John's Grill to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first time was when they first opened so quite a while ago. Setting: Small and cozy. The dark green walls and simple decor contributed to the intimate feel.Food and drinks: We ordered the Manhattan and mojito. Hubby enjoyed the manhattan so he got another one; the mojito was nothing special. Our appetizers were Brussels spouts and steamers. Brussels were crispy and flavorful; the steamers sauce was on the bland side. We decided to add a $5 bread order to soak up the sauce but it came pre-sliced and toasted, unlike other reviews noting the bread was warm soft inside and crispy outside. Pork chop and seafood pasta were our entrees. It was a thick pork chop slightly on the dry side but hubby enjoyed it. I thought the pasta was perfect - plenty of seafood and the sauce was delicious. Subtracting one star because: 1. It took about 70 minutes from then time we were seated to get our entrees. 2. When I made the reservation on their website, it asked if we were celebrating any special occasion so I checked anniversary. Nothing was done although I overheard our waitress asking the next table if they were celebrating anything special. She never asked us. Our total bill including tip for a party of two was $199.85. John's Grill will not be our regular go-to place but it is a good restaurant to consider for special occasions.

We went here for my birthday and I don't know why I'd put off going for so long! The food was great (the clam chowder with bacon and corn is especially delicious!!), the ambiance was upscale, yet still casual and the service was very good. I had the 16 oz ribeye. It was a perfectly grilled and definitely large enough to have take home leftovers. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Another amazing birthday dinner here at John's. Love the food, service & view. Definitely recommend for any occasion!

Best date night restaurant around. It's so refreshing to eat at a restaurant where they care about everything and it really shows. Not a cobweb, not a speck of dust. The service was spot on. Our server was attentive and warm, yet not "in your face" there when you needed her and didn't even notice her box up our food. Pacing was perfect, even though the place was full. The food.... We started with the bread basket and a couple of salads, along with the massive crab cake. I got the beet salad and it was gorgeously plated, and perfectly portioned. Best beet salad I've ever had hands down, and I've had them all. Wife got the ceaser and it was perfect also. I'd have gone heavier on the anchovy but I'm crazy like that. The crab cake was HUGE and was enough for both of us, could be almost an entree. Amazing crab cake and I'm so glad I ordered it. The sauce the pair it with really hits the sweet and savory spot. For entree we got the stroganoff and the seafood linguine, although I don't much care for scallops as they're so often over cooked and tough, or chewy. These were delicate and actually palatable for me, huge hit. Her stroganoff was also amazing, the mushrooms they use are very dark, I wonder what they are, full of flavor! Altogether blown away. And so refreshed to see that this place works as a heck of a team, as all aspects of of our visit was perfect. 10/10 will for sure come back. After one meal I think it's my favorite date night place in the greater area. The ONLY thing that could be better is location, an ocean view would really set this place so much over the top. But can't have it all!

Terrific place to dine! Food is awesome, no matter what you order; very skillfully prepared. The service is to be expected. One is not disappointed. Be sure you have plenty of cash in your pocket! You will enjoy spending it!Lovely place and it's local!
