Hands down best smash burger in the area. The flavor is amazing on these burgers. Their size is big as well. Their service is great, and the vibe is a typical chill family owned burger joint. Johnny's is a quick serve restaurant located in a nondescript strip mall in Tempe.When I arrived, I was quickly greeted. As I looked around, I was pleased to see the dining room was neat and clean. There were also two televisions broadcasting Spanish language programs.After placing my order, it arrived in about five minutes. I ordered the Grilled Italian Sausage Combo.The sausage was sliced lengthwise and a little grizzly. It rested on a roll which was slightly undercooked. Atop it all was a plentiful portion of grilled chopped onions which, IMHO, was the best part of the meal. The sandwich was accompanied by a half cup of au jus which had little flavor.Served on the side was an order of crinkle cut French fries. They were completely unsalted. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Also included with the combo was a fountain drink. A standard selection of offerings was available.Here's a breakdown of what I paid:Sandwich: $7.39Combo up charge to add fries and drink: $5.09Tax: $1.0420% Tip: $2.50Total: $16.02The experience was average, though I wasn't "Wow'd". I'd return, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Saw this place on here and have been wanting to try it! We finally went to try it and thought it was just okay - some items were awesome while others were average. We had the cheese fries, Chicago hot dog, cheeseburger and the double cheese burger. The cheese fries are so good! They are crinkle cut fries with that yummy fake cheese sauce. The double cheeseburger was also very good - the meat had good flavor and there was a good bun/burger ratio. The regular cheeseburger was kind of dry and was waaaay to small for the bun. The Chicago hot dog wasn't bad but nothing special. The bun was a bit soggy but that could of been because I ate it last!

Our first time trying this spot was the other night. We didn't get a chance to take a picture! We did try to go back the next night and unfortunately we saw this devastating tragedy. Of course, I went to their instagram right away and sure enough they did mention that there was an electrical fire. Thankfully, none of the workers was injured!! I just wanted to come here and say this was by far the best Burger spot in Arizona we have had so far

Small interior, but clean. Family ran, everyone is friendly. Slightly higher prices than expected, but everything is fresh. Great taste, you can order fry sauce on the side. Highly recommended.

I hope they are just closed today and didn't close down. This is the best burger. The people are always nice and the food is delicious and fresh!

OMG! DEF try this place if you get the chance and are craving a good burger, chicken sandwich or hot dog. The counter culture is chill (the servers are kind) and the restaurant is classic and clean.

Was meeting my cousin for lunch and he said he wanted a burger. I pulled up Yelp and started searching for a place that would take us about an equal amount of time to get there. I looked at the menu and some of the other reviews then suggested this place to him. It's in a little strip mall like off of McClintock. It's not a very big place inside, maybe about 5 or 6 tables. Once I pulled up I recognized that I had been there before a few years ago. They have burgers and different types of hotdogs, I forgot all the different types because as soon as I saw the Chicago style hotdog I was done looking. They also have Italian beef. I got the Chicago dog with all the fixings, mustard, relish, tomato, onions, sport peppers and a clausen pickle on top. The only thing it didn't have was the celery salt on top. I also got the onion rings, they were really yummy. My cousin got a cheeseburger which he liked and his wife got the Italian beef and she said it was ok but not as good as Portillos. Sorry, i again forgot to take pictures.

Fantastic burger. Better than five guys. Would absolutely recommend as a Phoenix local restaurant. Great service. Secret menu looks fantastic as well (get the onion rings).

I saw the reviews on Yelp and had to try their Italian beef. The shop inside is modern and vibrant with color. The menu had quite a few options and everything looked real good. I'm a huge fan of Italian beef sandwiches so of course I got that, fries, and chili. The Italian beef can come with certain vegetables for toppings. I got onions and Mushrooms, yum. The chili had meat that was very mushy vs ground meat. I can't describe it other than cafeteria type meat for tacos. I'm not knocking it, I love that meat. It was tasty and slightly spicy too. The fries were piping hot and fresh and they were a large serving for the meal. I'm very pleased overall and I look forward to the next visit.
