JL Smokehouse

I made a quick stop for lunch last weekend while my car was getting serviced.I ended up ordering their lemon pepper wings with a side of sweet potato fries, & let me tell you, that dish was phenomenal! Fries were cooked and seasoned very well & the chicken wings were full of flavor and zest (which lemon pepper wings are suppose to have in my opinion) I know they just opened in that plaza recently so, I wanted to support. They did not disappoint! Looking forward to my next visit to sample their bbq platter eats! Definitely I recommend giving this place a try! They have a lot of deliciousness on their menu as well

A FB foodie member posted about this new place that opened up and it is not that far away from me. So I decided to stop by after work to pick up some food to take home for dinner. I was immediately greeted by a lady when I entered. This is a small store front and simple decor with 8 tables. She was so kind to share with me what was available and that they were just newly opening. The lady was soooo friendly and professional; she really made one feel at home. I decided to get some beef brisket, hot links, mac & cheese and BBQ spaghetti (all ala carte). The beef brisket is seasoned well, on the lean side and still semi-moist. A nice pink smoke ring and know it was smoked. The hot link (can't say if it is made in house or processed off site/store/butcher bought), but it has a nice kick and you can taste the smoke. The mac & cheese was good and cheesy. The BBQ spaghetti was a blend of their house sauce with some meat and cut up sausage and it has a nice flavor. Their sauce is a vinegar base with some sweet notes. A great find out this way and will be back to try more as they add more to their menu here. They do have another location, which was their first location in South Phoenix. And they had Mark Weins (youtube food vlogger) visit and do a video. Check them out.

First, the sides (greens, mac and cheese) were very good.The meats (brisket, pulled pork, pork belly ) were ok however, they had a slightly off (like lighter fluid) taste. Also, they put the pork belly in the fryer before serving. Normally not a bad thing, but they need to change/clean the grease and do a better job of draining the grease off the meat before serving. I'm also pretty sure the meats are cooked elsewhere and held in a warming box. This is definitely not my favorite thing.Would definitely come back for the sides and possibly the meats.

He's been open since May. Met the owner, great guy trying to build his business. I found his food very good and a lot had his own special touches. I highly recommend this establishment for the food, it was just as good for leftovers the next day! I am definitely going back!

The meat products were great! The staples, veggies (Cabbage, Peach Cobbler, etc.), were not available at 11:00 in the morning.We were told that the caterer had taken those items, and they didn't seem to be concerned about reupping supplies. Additionally, it was SLOOOOOW. WE WAITED for about 45 minutes, to get half of what we went there for.I really came all the way from Maryland to try their place, along with others.

Food Only 5stars restaurant could stand up dating in another bbq location that is no longer with us JL is much like the joints that are All Over the SOUTH serving really good Q huge selection of meats and Down to Earth sides Not just beans fries or a processed potato salad ALL of JL sides are made in house with Flavor that is lacking at I other bbq places the Collard greens beans potato salad are my favorites along with the special cornbread that is truly a SOUTHERN treat just to close JL Q serves their chicken On the Bone as it should be Don't forget the Peach Cobbler for dessert l'm usually too full to eat it after my meal so I get a order for later Great treat Not Frozen crap that others serve Family Owned l have eaten at both locations and the food is the same

This place just opened. Tasty bbq! Would definitely go back to try out the rest of their menu
